planar 997-5253-00 black dual monitor stand for lcd displays factory

After doing a lot of research I have decided to order this monitor stand. Here is some info on my own reasons for wanting a dual stand and how it will be used, what with, etc.

So, I had a lot of trouble choosing a stand due to the fact that I like to lay on my bed and watch movies. However, my bed it parallel to the computer, and the monitors are set around where my feet are. With that said, a big concern of mine was whether or not this stand would allow for me to watch movies on the primary monitor despite the fact that I am maxing out the allowable size screens. The answer to this is a yes. I can move the edge of one monitor behind the other and it allows for a greater range of movement.

With that said, I only gave this product three stars for a very important reason. I was forced to send back my original order because one of the arms that holds a monitor had a hole that was not drilled properly and did not fit the lever/screw that was supposed to go through it to secure it in place. This resulted in me having to try to ratchet it into place and nearly breaking the thing in the process. I was forced to order a replacement and wait through the weekend in order to get it(A+ to customer service for response time. I got the replacement on Monday morning when I filed the complaint on Saturday). I believe that this is very important to take into consideration. If something breaks I want to know that I can get it replaced and not have to wait 3 months to do so - not that I think something should break on this relatively simple piece of equipment.

Due to the wait for the replacement and only receiving it on Monday (this morning) I have not really had a chance to test out all of the functionality that I will need to utilize this monitor for. Due to this fact I will update this review once I have played around with it a bit more. With that said, I still only give it 3 stars (at the moment) due to the fact that the replacement had the same exact problem with the screws that the original had. This leads me to believe that there is a quality problem when manufacturing these. I have no clue why it is only one arm, but I tried it with both screws and they work great in one arm (like butta in both stands) but the other is like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. I have ended up just sending back both of those arms that do not work and keeping the two that do. These arms are completely generic and either one can go on the left or right, so it really makes absolutely no sense that this problem arises.

All in all, I am happy with how this looks and how it lines up my monitors. I will let you all know how it works out in the long run. Feel free to leave a comment if you have a question. I am always reluctant to purchase something like this if I haven"t ever tested it - I hate going through the hassle of sending something back. I"ll do my best to answer any questions that anybody might have.
