b) Wear and tear of the LCD panel due to usage over time. I bought this iPhone XR in July 2018, so 3 yrs running. Seems like a short run window for this sort of LCD panel aging issue cropping up. (If it’s the underlying case)

I suggest to go to those service centre where one day screen replacement facility is there. I went to my nearby apple store but now regret that if I directly went to little far from my home then I may get my phone back same day.

It"s not the glue. Call up OPO customer care and they"d now tell you its coz the "screen portion at the bottom has been UPPED" (yes that is what they say!!!) And its not a defect.

I tried to mess around with the manual brightness as you mentioned. And I agree with you. To that it further, the screen shows a more true representation of what you see and what you get the lower you set the brightness. Somehow the yellow of the screen increases more than the other colors the more juice the screen gets.

I find this an annoyance though, but not a deal breaker. Though i would love the have the screen work better in terms of color it is still doable because you can check the color fidelity better through the EVF. So though I compose with the rear screen, if I want to check for color use the EVF.

I just purchased an iPhone 11 Pro, and I noticed the screen has a yellow tint color. I was previously using an iPhone X. On both phones "True Tone" was off, but the screen color on the iPhone 11 Pro had a yellower tint. I put the iPhone X and the iPhone 11 Pro side by side, and it made the yellow tint more noticeable. As you can see from the image above, the iPhone 11 Pro has a yellower tone than the iPhone X. To the naked eye, it"s a lot more noticeable than the image above. Fortunately, you can make adjustments to the screen to remove the yellow tint. The directions below are for iOS13, but iOS 12 or lower should be similar.

I would recommend playing with the hue until you find a color that you like. I think it would be challenging to get precisely the color that was on your old iPhone, but you can get the screen to look cooler rather than warmer and yellowish. After you find the screen color you desire, I would recommend using the phone for a day to see how you like it. Although the screen color may not be the same as your previous iPhone, you will find that your eyes adjust to things. I found an adjustment that made my iPhone 11 Pro look "cooler," and now after putting my iPhone X side by side with my iPhone 11 Pro, the iPhone X appears to have a slight yellow tint compared to my iPhone 11.

After doing a little research, I noticed complaints about the yellow tinted screen as far back as iPhone 7. Though most of the complaints I found were on iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max.

For those curious about the Color Filter settings that I used, see the image below. The intensity was all the way to the left and the Hue is at about 75%. I would recommend playing with it until you get the screen tint you desire.

Unfortunately at this point, there is no real solution - yes, displays do vary in color temperature and the adjustments are limited. This being a budget, entry-level model, it"s likely one reason the price is low is that the screen is low in cost. While you could replace the panel, that will also void your warranty. Short answer: there"s no practical solution to the issue at this point short of using an external monitor, or if you"re OK with losing the warranty, replacing the panel yourself.

Some iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus screens appear very yellow, or at least seem to display a much warmer color spectrum than what many people were used to on a prior iPhone display. If your new iPhone has a yellow screen or a warmer display, we’ll show you how you can color correct the iPhone display quickly and do away with any yellow screen tint.

Before proceeding, realize that on some occasions, select prior iPhone and iPad devices have had a yellow tint to the screen that seemingly resolves itself over a several day period. Supposedly this is because an adhesive on the display is not yet entirely dried, which can cast a slight yellow color hue onto the display. If this is the issue, it should resolve itself just by doing nothing other than waiting a couple of days for that glue to dry. Consider this before adjusting the iPhone display color hue as we’ll cover next.

Adjusting the color tint intensity and hue should let you quickly get to a display that does not have a yellow tint or warmer hue. You can also easily overdo it and get a very blue cooler screen, or an ultra warm screen, but adjust away according to your own visual preference.

You can see a few different examples of the yellow screen side by side before color correction, the regular color iPhone 6S Plus is on the left and yellow tint iPhone 7 Plus is on the right. These pictures were taken with an iPhone 6 Plus so they’re not going to be the most amazing photos in the world, but they do demonstrate the notable difference in screen warmth:

Do note that if the earlier mentioned adhesive screen glue drying thing is legitimate (and not just a longstanding rumor that seems to recirculate with every iPhone and iPad launch), then your iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus display is probably going to look oddly cooler in a few days, so you’ll probably want to return back to the Color Tint settings and either turn the feature off, or re-adjust it as needed.

The ability to adjust color tint on the iPhone (or iPad) screen is a new feature to iOS 10 and it’s really quite nice, sort of similar to how calibrating a screen on the Mac works in Expert Mode with precise color adjustments. Since adjusting the screen tint to be slightly more cool seems to do away with this yellow display tint, it makes you wonder if the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus display was just color calibrated to be warmer to begin with. Time will tell, because if it’s just a yellowish screen glue thing, it’ll go away on it’s own shortly.

Did your iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus screen have a yellow tint or warmer hue? Did you use the color adjustment tip to fix it? Let us know in the comments.
