In healthy batteries after a few weeks of not turning on your camera will lose its charge. If you have issues with your RTC or lithium-ion battery, you may lose power immediately, and your settings are lost when your camera turns off.

Some of these solutions may require you to change your firmware or disassemble the camera. Updating the firmware may cause your camera to stop working if done incorrectly and you may lose the warranty. Disassembling the camera will almost always void the warranty but you may have no choice as return shipping (especially China for cheap products) may cost too much money.

Solution: Adjust the camera so that you have about 1/3 sky and 2/3 land on the screen, even if it means that you have the car hood in view. Set the EV (exposure value) to +2/3 or if video seems too washed out, try +1/3.

Solution: Press the WiFi button off / on one time on the camera. Close the app on the phone (even if running in the background). Restarting the app usually resolves the problem. Alternatively, uninstall and reinstall the app on your phone. Also update to the latest firmware.

Solution: You can try to use a different SD card or specifically the Thinkware SD card. Download the firmware, unzip the file and copy contents to the root of the thinkware card. Insert the card and turn the camera on, the device will update. Power cycle the camera and then try reconnecting.

Stage 2: Reflash the firmware. If the camera is still stuck it’s likely a firmware issue. Download the latest firmware to the root of your microSD card. Plug the camera into your computer’s USB port and wait one minute until it reboots into the “mass storage” display screen. This was a disappointment. Upon arrival I immediately noticed the LCD was cracked. While it was still view-able I wanted to see if it lived up to other expectations. It didn"t. By now everyone should know the manual is a joke. Hardest part of the setup was learning that the "OK" button is actually the red record button. After that it was easy to set up all remaining options. Two big disappointments on the unit was that, when recording, the red record button is blinking red. While some may find it comforting to know it is actually recording, I want this to be invisible to me and my passengers until its needed. Second is the video quality. Perhaps this unit was bad due to the LCD damage but it was horribly out of focus. And it is most certainly not HD even if it was. I set the resolution to 720 and the picture was grainy.
