I purchased a 32 inch DVD/TV combo flat screen from Walmart in April 2008. First, the DVD player went out and now the TV screen is black with sound only. I am reluctant to get this TV repaired as I have discovered that I am among so many others with this same problem. I and many others, would like to be compensated. I feel that I have been ripped off by Polaroid.

I bought 2 Polaroid 42" LCD TVs from Wal-Mart on black Friday 2008. The first TV stopped working in April 2010. The second TV stopped working in May 2011. I"ve contacted Polaroid regarding this only to be told "Out of warranty, not our problem". I"ve contacted Wal-Mart and received no help with this situation either.

I bought these TVs from Wal-Mart specifically because I thought that I could count on the store to provide a good quality product and count on their formerly stellar customer service and returns if there were any problems. I will not be shopping at Wal-Mart, and will not be purchasing any Polaroid product until this is made right. These TVs were expensive and should have lasted far, far longer than they did.Read full review

I just had my Polaroid 32" (03210B) die on December 5, 2011. When turned on, it popped, lost picture and sound remained. No picture can be recovered after unplugging, rebooting and multiple attempts of checking power source. This was purchased from Wal-Mart a few years ago on Black Friday, just like so many other consumers are speaking of. This electronic item purchased should have more of a life span.

Joining a class action suit to attempt recovery would be welcomed and warranted. The faith placed in a Polaroid product and the choice to spend hard earned money on it has been betrayed. This set has been in a person"s household without excessive use or any abuse.Read full review

I bought a 35-inch Polaroid HD TV in 2007. The master board went bad very soon after purchase, including burning smell, and no picture, only sound. The warranty repaired it in 12/11. It was the same deal, only now with no warranty. Polaroid is more like hemorrhoid.

I purchased a Polaroid TV/DVD combo in 2008, model# tdx-03211c, 32inch. Approximately a few months later, the DVD player failed, also as of recently, my TV malfunctioned, as others have noted description wise, it made a popping noise, followed by smoke appearing out of the top and back side. My TV now displays only a black screen with sound, and this all took place while I was watching. I was scared the TV was about to catch fire. I"m totally upset with Polaroid, and feel ripped off, and hope something can be done to fix these multiple complaints against this company. It"s ridiculous! Please contact me, and let me know when the class suit begins, and how can I follow up at **.

I can"t afford another TV. I paid a good amount, and expected a good product in return, that should last. I would like for Polaroid to honor products, and stand behind their quality, replace, or refund.Read full review

In 2008, we got a Polaroid HDTV model tda-03211c. We paid $800.00 for it. Six months after we got it, the DVD player went out. But I didn’t worry about that too much. Then in 2010, the picture went out. From what I’ve seen on the internet, there are a lot of people with the same TV and same problems. I’m lucky there wasn’t a fire with it. I think I should get my money back for this TV or some of it.

I am here to add my name to the multitudes of dissatisfied customers owning the Polaroid LCD/DVD combo! Just as everyone else, the DVD lasted less than 6 months and here I am 2 years later with an $800 paperweight. It has no picture, but does have sound. Popping, sizzling and smoking. I am afraid to plug in the TV for risk of burning down my house. Please add my name to to the list willing to join a class action suit. I feel that I"ve been had by Polaroid just as everyone else posting here.

I purchased from Walmart a Polaroid TV/DVD COMBO Model #TDA03211C which was manufactured in Nov. 2007. Within 9 months, the DVD player stopped working. Last night,12/03/11, I was watching TV when we heard a popping and sizzling noise, followed by loss of picture and white smoke coming out of the top. Also, the TV was hot to touch.

The same as all the other complaints. My TV only lasted 3 years. It started making a popping sound and the picture went black. It"s very disappointing for Polaroid.

My 42-inch LCD Polaroid TV has had a black spot on the screen for two years. Of course this was a week after the warranty ran out. Polaroid told me to email them a picture of it. It’s impossible to do because I always get glare. I paid $800 for this TV from Wal-Mart and I will never buy a Polaroid product again.

I purchased the 32" Polaroid LCD TV from Wal-Mart in November 2007. Tonight, we were watching TV and there was a popping sound, then the screen went black and smoke started pouring out of the top of the TV. This is the same issue that several other people have complained about. This TV is only 4 years old and has been well cared for.

I also bought the Polaroid #TLX03210B at Wal-Mart in November of 2007. Tonight I turned the TV on and had sound but no picture and also a buzzing noise. I have unplugged it in fear of fire. I was searching online to see if I could find out the problem when I found all these posts with pretty much identical issue. Definitely seems like a manufacturing problem if so many are having problems in the same time frame.

Last night we were watching a movie on our 32" Polaroid flat screen. It started sizzling and smoke started coming out the top. We immediately unplugged it and removed it from our center. It will come on with sound but no picture. We bought this TV 3 and 1/2 years ago and paid at least $400 for it. I see a lot of other people that purchased this same TV had the same problem and we should all get our money back! I will never buy another Polaroid ever!

We got the HDTV in 2008 and had problems with the DVD player in about its first six months after we got it. Then on October 15, 2010, the picture went out but still has sound. From what I"ve seen, lucky that there wasn’t a fire model.

I bought my 32-inch flat screen TV from Walmart 3 yrs ago. I was lying in bed one night and I heard a pop sound and then a sizzling sound. The next thing I saw was smoke coming from my TV and I could smell something burning. I immediately jumped up and unplugged my TV. Polaroid sucks because my TV should have lasted longer than that. After all, I did pay over $400.00 for my TV.

I bought a 32 inch TV at Walmart on Black Friday in 2007. On November 24, 2011, it made a sizzling sound and smoke came out of the top and now there is no picture and it doesn"t work. I am very upset as I am a single mother of 4 and cannot afford another TV. I am left without a TV, have lost 400 plux taxes and lost faith in Polaroid as a brand.

I bought a 32" Polaroid HD LCD TV/DVD combo, Model TDA-03211C in 2007, and less than 3 years later, smoke suddenly started coming out of it. The screen didn"t go black, like in other cases, it kept working, so it was good that an adult was nearby to unplug it right away. This happened in 2010, and at that time, I realized there were already multiple (thousands?) complaints, so I"m surprised to see consumer authorities have not enforced a recall yet.

The 32-inch DVD/TV combo is plagued with issues. Our system lost its DVD and was replaced with warranty. Then like many others, the TV just quit. Many articles online seem to point to a faulty power supply. We just replaced the power supply, and the TV is still dead. This is a great company name, too bad they have very poor products, and lack luster support. Where are you Ralph **? I would add my name to class action as well. The consequences include loss of value, risk of fire in our residence and business, loss of income related to above, death, exposure to toxic by-products from electronics failure.

I purchased a 32 inch flat screen Polaroid TV on Black Friday 3.5 yrs ago. It is now totally useless. One night, while watching, the TV went totally black but had sound and then started smoking out of the top vent of the TV. I immediately unplugged everything from the TV and removed the plug from the wall. This was of great disappointment to me for having faith in this brand and also the risk I have taken owning this product in my home. I have read many other posts pertaining to the same TV that I had purchased and the same exact descriptions as to the failure of their TV was as mine. I request immediate action for the limited use I had of this TV. I want a refund and also the public made aware of how dangerous it is to have and use this product.

I had bought a 46 in Polaroid LCD 1080p online through walmart.com in April,2009 and then in May 2011, it started crackling and popping on and off then it started smoking then completely shut down.

I purchased a 32 inch Polaroid TV in 1/1/08 7. Had problems right away. The remote didn"t work. Walmart said I could either return the TV, or buy a universal. Which I did, and it didn"t work. By this time, Walmart did send me another remote. I now have 3 remotes but only one would work at a time. I would switch between the 1st and 3rd. Eventually neither would work and I would have to re program one of them. After 2 years of this, the screen went black. I had audio, but no picture. I called Polaroid over 6 times and was told to buy a convertor for $200.00. I filed a complaint with the bbb and also with the atty general of mass, Martha **. I called Polaroid one last time on 8/16/11 and talked to a Mark, who told me I needed to buy a converter. I said that wouldn"t work because I threw the piece of ** away and got a Toshiba.

I bough a flat screen Poloroid LCD TV on black Friday from Wal-Mart in "07 or so. I came home today and the screen is black with no picture or sound with the buzzing noise also. I just read that a lot of yours started smoking, so I just unplugged that bad boy. What the heck Wal-Mart and Polaroid?

I bought a Polaroid tla-0464c TV around in July or August 2007 and it has broken every single year almost to the month. I had purchased the extended warranty, so they fixed it three times with a new control box but would not give me a different TV. Now Polaroid says I will have to buy a control box for $400 or so that obviously will only work for up to one year and then require another $400 or so replacement!

I purchased a Polaroid television from Target less than one year ago and the picture goes black without any sound for several hours. Using the remote, the television will come on, flash a snow screen for a second, then go black. There is no rhyme, reason or explanation as to how this occurs.

My Polaroid HDTV was purchased on Black Friday as well. It was a gift. But TVs should last more than 3 years. Yesterday I noticed the TV was left on for a few hours while we were gone. I turned it off then back on again only to watch the screen fade to black. So now there is no picture, but there is sound. It appears I have the same problem as most I"ve read here.

My sister and I both purchased the Polaroid TLX-03210B on Black Thursday at Wal-Mart. About two months ago, my sister was working from home, her TV started smoking and then went black. Today, my husband called and said that our TV had done the same thing. Ridiculous! I cannot believe that Polaroid would sell such a defective product and I will never buy a Polaroid or TV from Wal-Mart again! We want our purchase price refunded.

There are vertical lines just right of center on the screen. The TV is only a couple of years old. I purchased 2 of them from Wal-Mart. Someone needs to step up and stand behind this product! I lost what I consider a lot of money on something that should last longer. Emotional distress.

This TV was a spontaneous purchase for me and my girlfriend. We decided to go HD and what better place to do so than our friendly neighborhood Wal-Mart Supercenter.

We eventually purchased the Polaroid TDA-03211C on September 9, 2007 as a seemingly good value buy and at least in name an American company, so much for economic patriotism. Out of the box the TV worked, looked, sounded, and once again, seemed great. It went kaput on October 17, 2007 and after 16 calls, 8 different customer service reps, 3 repair techs, and three wrong parts, I am officially going to warn every person that I can of this TV and the Polaroid Corporation.

To state that I feel cheated, lied to, and downright robbed is an understatement. There is a known problem with what they call the control-box, which is the key component of the television. Customer service sent us a new one initially without even taking a look at the TV. I inferred that there is probably a known design flaw with this part if Polaroid automatically sends new ones without actually first trouble shooting. If the part is in backlog, which it was for me, it will take about 1 month for the part to arrive from China. You will have to wait for the "independent tech" to contact you to schedule an appointment for repair. Polaroid outsources the repair of their product.

Polaroid does not want to give you a new TV nor does it want to refund your money. WARNING!!! Polaroid does not want to give you a new TV nor does it want to refund your money. It is their tactic to lie, give the customer the run around, and avoid resolution. Not a timely resolution, essentially no resolution whatsoever. I am now approaching the half-way point of the Polaroid 1 year warranty. This TV worked for 5 weeks and has become a 4 month headache. Do not purchase any Polaroid product. I personally believe that the restructuring after their bankruptcy has corrupted their capacity to manufacture quality products. Avoid this brand.

Turn off the TV and disconnect the power from the TV and then check the power board or maybe a separate inverter board (look for 2 or 4 wire cable going into the screen area somewhere) for bulging or domed capacitors.

Be safety aware. Always disconnect the power from the TV when working in the back as there is exposed lethal AC voltage on the power board when the power is connected to the TV, even if the TV is not turned on.

Measuring the inches on your LCD television is done by measuring the diagonal distance between for example the upper left corner and the lower right corner of the screen (not the edge). One inch equals 2,54 centimeter, so when you measure 99 centimeter, this means your LCD television is 39 inches.

Both techniques use an LCD screen that emits no light by itself. The difference is in the lighting behind the screen. With LCD screens this is done by CCFL (cold-cathode fluorescent lamp) and LED makes use of LED lights.

One of the more notorious problems encountered in older LCD TVs is the no video/not powering up problem caused by bad capacitors in the power board module. Usually you’ll get the LED power indicators to light up when turned on but LCD screen stays dark and no picture comes out. Of course there may be other causes but one of the things you should check first is the power board and look for blown capacitors. This was the case for the LCD TV in this video. It was a Polaroid TDA-03211C You can determine a capacitor is bad or blown when it shows a bulge at the top. Sometimes it will be obvious but as the video indicates, sometimes the bulge will be very slight so you’ll probably need to familiarize yourself with how good capacitors look so you’ll have a baseline.

You’ll need some soldering skills but it’s fairly an easy fix. You’ll want to make sure you can reassemble the unit back together once you take them apart so you’ll want to think that through if you’re new to this. You can draw the LCD TVs back panel on paper and mark the screw locations as well as important components that you shouldn’t forget about as that can help you in the reassembly process.

The above video talks about replacing only two bad capacitors but if you find other ones that need replacement like the ones under the heat sink, you’ll need to get a little bit more surgical. If you need help with removing the heat sink you could check out the video below which shows how to get replace more parts on the power board. The TV looks like a different model but power board is similar. This one’s a 2-part video.
