The LG 34UC79G 144Hz gaming monitor also supports AMD FreeSync. This technology allows the monitor to change its refresh rate according to the GPU’s frame rate, which in turn gets rid of all screen tearing and stuttering.

The LG 34UC79G FreeSync range within which variable refresh rate works is 50-144Hz/FPS (Frames Per Second). If your frame rate dips below 50, the AMD LFC technology is automatically enabled, which makes the display’s refresh rate double or triple the frame rate to maintain smooth performance.

The LG 34UC79G was one of the first IPS ultrawide monitors with a high refresh rate and the $450 price tag was reasonable back then. However, nowadays you can buy a 34″ 144Hz IPS monitor with a higher 3440×1440 resolution and a wider color gamut at the same price! So, be sure to check out the Gigabyte M34WQ.

You can also get the AOC CU34G2X 3440×1440 144Hz ultrawide model with a curved VA panel. It offers a higher contrast ratio, but a slower response time speed.

Overall, the LG 34UC79G is an excellent gaming monitor and it was worth the asking price back when it was released, but there are much better options nowadays.
