I was getting chirps from my machine at random times but it never effected my print. Hasn"t happened in over a month now I think but I went through every connector and made sure they were well seated and hot glued in so... I also get weird times where my Y and/or Z will move in one direction and not the other and turning off the printer and jiggling the plugs on all the steppers by firmly pressing in and wiggling a bit and turning back on seems to fix it. I"m about to do one of my 80"s hacks and hand crimp every pin on the board so it presses into the metal inside the connector better. I"ll probably do that when I install these diodes to fix the salmon skin issue.

If you suspect the firmware then what I would do would do is first initialize the EEPROM, turn off and flash a new copy of the firmware, initialize the EEPROM again, load factory defaults, store settings, then input all your calibrations again and save.
