WH0802A1 is an 8 character by 2 lines 8x2 character LCD display. It is available in no backlight or with LED backlight options. This 8x2 LCD module is available in various LCD panel colors including gray, yellow/green and blue LCD options. WH0802A1 LCD module is built in with ST7066 controller (or equivalent). The ST7066 IC has different language fonts as options, there are English/Japanese, English/Western European, English/ Eastern European, English/Scandinavian European, English/Cyrillic (Russian), and Hebrew/Arabic WH0802A1 model has different interfaces available, it’s default 6800 4/8-bit parallel 6800 interface, also it’s optional SPI and I2C by using RW1063 IC.

LCD character modules are “characteristically” simple display devices known for their very low power consumption, low cost and long-term reliability. They are designed to display alpha-numeric characters in preset patterns and do not have much. In most cases, they are small displays with only 8 or 16 or 32 characters, utilized for status reports and simple communication. It is the most popular display for hobbyist because of its ease of operation.

The LCD panel technologies include TN, STN, FSTN, FFSTN or VA (Vertical Alignment) types and also with positive mode and negative mode and options of reflective, transflective or transmissive polarizers. There are different LED backlights available in various colors including yellow-green, white, red, blue, green, amber, and RGB LEDs as well as no backlight option.

The viewing angles for these character LCD displays are available with 6:00, 12:00, 3:00, and 9:00. Orient Display offers various IC options of character fonts including English/Japanese, western European, eastern European, Scandinavian European, Cyrillic (Russian), and Hebrew/Arabic. These LCD character modules and LCD modules can be used on industrial and consumer’s applications including printers, microwaves, water machines, medical devices, car and home audio, white goods, game machines, toys, industrial meters, etc.

RC0802A1 is the smallest-sized character LCD module in our product line. This 8x2 LCD display module is powered by voltage 5V or negative voltage 3V. Backlight is optional, you can choose module with backlight or without it. There are a lot of combinations for backlight, for example, yellow-green, blue, white, amber, red, and RGB backlight. This 8x2 character monochrome LCD display has built-in IC ST7066 offering a selection of fonts, including English/Japanese, Western European, Eastern European, Scandinavian European, Cyrillic (Russian), and Hebrew/Arabic, etc. Default interface of RC0802A1 8x2 LCD display is 6800; if you require interface such as SPI or I2C, they’re also available, but the IC will be replaced with RW1063.
