i have an a80 that i got about a year and a half ago. so far everything has worked fine except for now i have these white lines that are spreading across the lcd screen when it is turned on. does anyone know what these are and how i can get rid of them. i kind of fear that there"s nothing i can do.

i"m getting a new camera in december so i"d like to keep this one until then. Right now i´m living toward the north of guatemala so there aren"t really any servicemen that i can take it into. if my camera goes before december i"ll be stuck without a camera until the middle of december when i go back home for a few weeks. Just bought a new monitor and when I was checking for stuck pixels I noticed a thick white line on the glass of the monitor. It is only visible when light shines directly on the monitor and only when it"s either showing solid black or is turned off. Does anyone know what it is? I tried gently pressing on it to see if it would react but nothing happened. It doesnt affect the actual image in any way but I"m worried it might indicate that something is wrong. Half of the monitor is now unusable due to vertical lines and a white strip (on the right side) which began to appear just under two years after I bought it...This has turned out to be a very foolish investment indeed if Mac don"t accept responsibility and launch a repair programme for its customers. I used my Mac for making music, but can never relax now thinking that another third of the screen may disappear any minute. I didn"t buy Applecare because I thought unless I dropped the thing, a Mac would surely give few major problems. Doh.

I have the vertical line problem on my G4-17" laptop. Any laptop with the Serial number starting with W84 is susceptible to this problem. As an engineer who has repaired computers for a long time I troubleshot the problem down to the cables that go from the motherboard to the LCD. It will not show up on any hardware troubleshooting program.

I have an LCD screen in front of my cockpit on my mining ship that displays the CargoAll property in the Configurable Automatic LCDs script by MMaster. Currenty I"m having to just fill up the top 5 lines of the LCD with ===="s so the CargoAll information I want is inside my field of view. While this works, I"d prefer a cleaner setup. What"s the syntax I need to make the lines filled with ==== just be blank lines? Something equivalent to a line break in HTML, I suppose.
