ssd1963 tft lcd mikroc pic made in china

I have bought 2 x 5" East Riding TFT display which use the SSD1963 controller. My MCU is PIC32 795 and is connected with 8 data lines and then 16 data lines. Using 8 bit data lines and by using the configuration below the display can fill the screen with different colors correctly. The time to fill the screen with example 8 bit TFT_Fill_Screen(CL_red); is about 4 seconds. As this is too slow I have connected up 16 data lines but can not get this to work, I get a white flashing screen, I have tried many configurations but with no positive results. I am not sure if the problem is using PMP and also the 16 bit configuration, I also show this below. It is possible the SSD1963 timing requires the configuration data to be sent slower, so the using PMP might be an issue. Any ideas are welcome.
