I am in the same boat and need to replace the top screen. Almost bought a cheap one and when I asked a seller if that cheap one would work, he did not answer the question so I noped out of that and bought a refurbished top screen. It comes in Monday and going to do the second half of the repair (the 3ds is already torn down) Tuesday after I vote.

There are also sellers that are putting the new 3ds xl model number in the title for those cheap screens and should also be avoided. In the end if people are not comfortable buying the part and can opt for a repair from someone, they probably should.
