Finally, a FREE exposure calculator for anyone to download and use! Simply download the file, print out on a transparency film, and then start calculating your proper screen exposure times! We recommend performing the exposure test on each different mesh count you use for optimal results. Also, be sure to coat all your screens in the same way for consistent burn times.

Lastly, take the number of the best row and subtract from 11. For example, if row 4 came out the best, 11-4=7, meaning row 4 got exposed a total of 7 times during the test. If you were burning in 18 second increments, the correct exposure time would be 126 seconds (18x7=126).

The power consumption of computer or tv displays vary significantly based on the display technology used, manufacturer and build quality, the size of the screen, what the display is showing (static versus moving images), brightness of the screen and if power saving settings are activated.

Click calculate to find the energy consumption of a 22 inch LED-backlit LCD display using 30 Watts for 5 hours a day @ $0.10 per kWh. Check the table below and modify the calculator fields if needed to fit your display.

Hours Used Per Day: Enter how many hours the device is being used on average per day, if the power consumption is lower than 1 hour per day enter as a decimal. (For example: 30 minutes per day is 0.5)

Price (kWh): Enter the cost you are paying on average per kilowatt hour, our caculators use the default value of 0.10 or 10 cents. To find an exact price check your electricity bill or take a look at Global Electricity Prices.

LED & LCD screens use the same TFT LCD (thin film transistor liquid crystal display) technology for displaying images on the screen, when a product mentions LED it is referring to the backlighting. Older LCD monitors used CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent) backlighting which is generally 20-30% less power efficient compared to LED-backlit LCD displays.

The issue in accurately calculating the energy consumption of your tv or computer display comes down to the build quality of the screen, energy saving features which are enabled and your usage patterns. The only method to accurately calculate the energy usage of a specific model is to use a special device known as an electricity usage monitor or a power meter. This device plugs into a power socket and then your device is plugged into it, electricity use can then be accurately monitored. If you are serious about precisely calculating your energy use, this product is inexpensive and will help you determine your exact electricity costs per each device.

In general we recommend LED displays because they offer the best power savings and are becoming more cheaper. Choose a display size which you are comfortable with and make sure to properly calibrate your display to reduce power use. Enable energy saving features, lower brightness and make sure the monitor goes into sleep mode after 5 or 10 minutes of inactivity. Some research studies also suggest that setting your system themes to a darker color may help reduce energy cost, as less energy is used to light the screen. Also keep in mind that most display will draw 0.1 to 3 watts of power even if they are turned off or in sleep mode, unplugging the screen if you are away for extended periods of time may also help.

The screen size calculator can help you determine the screen dimensions. Have you ever wondered what the statement, the diagonal of the screen is equal to 40" means? How much space does it take up on the wall? What are its height and width? Here you can determine the monitor size or phone screen dimensions. If you"re curious enough, you can even determine how to measure a curved TV screen size!

If you want to find the ideal size of your TV or its distance from your eyes, check out this TV size calculator. Another useful tool is this great projector calculator, which can help in fulfilling your dreams about a home cinema.

The aspect ratio is the relationship between the height and width of a rectangular display. Every device with a screen uses that value – your laptop, smartphone, tablet, monitor, or projector. However, it doesn"t tell you how big a screen is. It only explains the proportion between the height and the width.

The value 5.8-inch stands for the diagonal of the screen. To check whether that smartphone will fit in your pocket, you will need to know one more parameter - the aspect ratio, the width, or the screen"s height. In our example, let"s assume we know the aspect ratio, and it is equal to 16:9:

Let"s say we want to compare two smartphones: The Apple iPhone X with a 5.85-inch display and the iPhone 8 Plus, which has a 5.5-inch screen. We could expect that the former would have a bigger screen, but we can"t forget about aspect ratios! iPhone X has a narrower screen with a 2.17:1 ratio, and iPhone 8 Plus has a standard 16:9.

Choose the aspect ratio. Let"s start with iPhone X with the aspect ratio equal to 2.17:1. As that ratio is still not very popular, you can"t select it from a drop-down menu - write it down manually in advanced options fields. The first value of the aspect ratio is 2.17, and the second value is 1.

Repeat the steps for iPhone 8 Plus, choosing a 16:9 aspect ratio and 5.5-inch diagonal. And what do you get? 4.8" for screen width, 2.7" height, and 12.93 in² screen size. So even though the first iPhone has a longer diagonal, the screen size is smaller than in iPhone 8 plus. (iPhone X also has the big cutout and the curved edges, but we are not taking them into account - even with that simplification, the screen area is smaller).

The crucial geometric difference between the curved and flat monitor is that the curved one occupies more space perpendicular to the screen from a user"s point of view while being a little narrower. We call these dimensions depth and width, respectively. To avoid confusion, we can depict all essential measures in a single picture.

Assuming the screen"s length is the arc length of a circle, we can find the base depth and width by using the following formulas which we use in the screen size calculator:

The size of a 16:9 screen depends on how long the screen"s diagonal is, as 16:9 is merely the ratio of the screen"s width to its height. If you have the screens diagonal, you can multiply that measurement by 0.872 to get the screen"s width. You can also multiply the diagonal by 0.49 to get the screen"s height. Then, if you wish to find the screen area, multiply the width by the height.

Support for braille. Students who are blind can read and write equations using the two mathematical braille codes used in the United States: Nemeth and Unified English Braille (UEB).

Accessible graphs. Students who are blind can create their own graphs in real time and determine the shape of a graph through audio trace. The pitch of the tone increases or decreases depending on the shape of the wave or graph. Students can then emboss their graphs and share print or braille versions with classmates and teachers.

Support for screen readers. Fully supporting keyboard navigation, the calculators communicate with screen readers, which voice additional cues to indicate a student’s location within an expression or within a graph (numerator or denominator, superscript or subscript, baseline, points on the graph, etc.). Paired with a refreshable braille display, these features offer students who use braille the same opportunity as their peers to access an online calculator.

Colors that have sufficient contrast. The calculators provide support for students who have low vision or students who have difficulty with visual perceptual skills.

The PPI Calculator finds pixels per inch (PPI) and pixels per centimeter (PPcm). It will calculate PPI when inches are entered and calculate both PPI and PPcm when centimeters are entered.

PPI is a measure of pixel density or resolution of a computer screen, television screen or other display device. Pixels per inch or PPcm indicates how many pixels are in a 1 inch line or 1 cm line on a display. Also calculated are dot pitch, diagonal in pixels and total number in megapixels.

The number of pixels per inch or PPI tells you how many pixels are in a 1 inch line on a display screen. The PPI will be the same whether it"s a horizontal or vertical or diagonal inch because pixels are square and therefore symmetric. If a display does not have square pixels then this calculator does not apply.

Multiply PPI × PPI to get pixels per square inch. The number of pixels in a square inch represents the resolution or pixel density of an area of one square inch. Substitute 1 cm for 1 inch to find pixels per square centimeter or PPcm2.

You have a computer screen that is 1920 pixels wide by 1080 pixels high. The diagonal is 10 inches. You want to find the pixel density in one linear inch of display.

Diagonal dot pitch is the diagonal distance from the center of one pixel to the center of the next. Dot pitch is calculated from the diagonal length in inches and pixels then converted from inches per pixel to millimeters per pixel but normally only expressed in millimeters (mm).

For example, let"s say you have a screen width equal to 1920 pixels and height equal to 1080 pixels. The ratio of width to height is 1920:1080. To reduce this to lowest terms we find the

greatest common factor of 1920 and 1080 which is GCF(1920,1080) = 120. Reduce our ratio of 1920:1080 by dividing both terms by the GCF of 120. 1920/120 = 16 and 1080/120 = 9 so our reduced ratio is 1920:1080 = 16:9. 16:9 is the aspect ratio, the ratio of width to height in lowest terms.

In some cases we want to know the aspect ratio in terms of 1 as the second term. In that case, divide both terms by the second term to get 1920/1080 = 1.7 and 1080/1080 = 1. The aspect ratio in terms of 1 is 1.7:1 and we can say 1920:1080 = 16:9 = 1.7:1

They are segment (as opposed to graphic) LCD displays (Liquid Crystal Display displays). There are two basic types, static and multiplexed. Static types have single common pin and the segment pins are driven with a 50% duty cycle square wave either in or out of phase depending on the segment state (in either state the average voltage is zero ideally, in practice mV). The static type is very low power and can be made quite stable with ambient temperature changes.

When there are too many segments for that to be practical, multiplexed displays are used that have two, three or more commons and a number of segment pins that is reduced to 1/2, 1/3 or less of the number of segments. This kind of display is driven with a complex waveform that keeps the average voltage of "off" segments at least somewhat below a threshold voltage, and the average voltage of "on" segments at least somewhat above. Since the threshold voltage of the material is invariably temperature-sensitive, a manual or automatic "contrast" control may be required for wide temperature applications such as automobile displays. Usually for multiplexed LCDs a driver

And a multiplexed type (4 commons) here It has (14+2)*8 = 128 segments, but only 34 pins rather than the 129 that would be required with static drive.
