gopro hero+ lcd touch screen in stock
The LCD Touch BacPac is a removable LCD touch screen for GoPro cameras*. As a removable accessory, the LCD BacPac keeps your camera as small and light as possible, yet provides the convenience of an LCD screen when attached.
The GoPro HERO+ LCD expands upon the all-in-one design of the HERO model by adding the convenience of a built-in touchscreen LCD. Like the HERO, the HERO+ LCD is waterproof to depths of 131" without requiring a separate housing; simply secure the Touch Backdoor in place for a watertight seal. The camera also sees a boost in its imaging capabilities by offering 1080p video at up to 60 fps and 8MP still photos in single-shot, time-lapse, and 5 fps burst modes. Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth lets you connect the camera to the GoPro Smart Remote or to the GoPro App on your mobile device for shot preview, complete camera control, and easy content sharing to social media sites.
In addition to a Touch Backdoor, a Skeleton Backdoor is included for use on dry land, which features cutouts for improved audio capture using the built-in microphone. Also included with the HERO+ LCD are flat and curved adhesive mounts for surfboards, helmets, boats, and other smooth surfaces, as well as a quick release buckle that clips in and out of them. Apart from these, the camera can be used with a range of separately available mounting hardware for adaptation to just about any scenario.
All GoPro fans out there have much to be happy about as the new touchscreen which will provide you with a friendly user interface and on-the-fly change of settings among many other things. The touchscreen can easily be used for shot framing in order to get a perfect recording. As the HERO+ LCD is capable of shooting videos in 1080 and 720P and in 60 and 30 fps, you can change these settings in a heartbeat thanks to this addition.
As the HERO+ LCD is an action camera, it is to be expected that it’s pretty sturdy and well-built. Waterproof for up to 130 feet below the water surface, this camera can withstand a lot of punishment, even being able to resist damage from sand, dirt and snow. All the better, because the best shots can be made only in places and under conditions in which regular cameras are useless.
The HERO+ LCD can also shoot photos in 8MPand can do so in several modes, including burst mode, time lapse and individual photo stills. The QuikCapture feature from the HERO model is here which is always a good thing, because it allows you to power up the camera and start recording very quickly. Another button was added on the right lower side and this one allows you to create highlights while recording or after, while you are reviewing the video on the screen.
WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity will let you connect the camera to your smart device so you can share your favorite shots or transfer them for editing. However, creating video clips and highlight stills is now an action which you can perform directly on the camera, once again thanks to the touch screen addition. For an entry level camera the GoPro HERO+ LCD will let you make amazing videos and photos and all of that can be done from various angles and during awe-inspiring situations since it is compatible with almost all GoPro mounts.
Well color us surprised: GoPro has a new camera in the middle of the year. It’s called the Hero+ LCD. It’s basically a hybrid of the entry-level Hero camera and the higher end Hero4 Silver, which was GoPro’s first camera with a built-in touch screen. Here’s what you get for 300 bucks.
Like the entry-level cam, the Hero+ LCD is built into a non-removable waterproof case, which is rated to depths of 131 feet. If you want to charge or swap micro SD cards you just open up the back panel to access the slots and ports in the back. We assume that you’ll need to open it in order to actually touch the touch screen, but you should still be able to use it for framing shots even when it’s closed. The big disadvantage here is that you can’t swap batteries in and out, and GoPro cameras aren’t known for their stamina. There’s also no HDMI out for instantly hooking it up to a TV.
One interesting twist is that GoPro is debuting an in-camera video trimming feature. Basically, you’ll use the touch screen to make short clips out of longer ones, so you can share a highlight quickly and more easily from your smartphone. This is definitely a handy feature and we were told it will be coming to the Hero4 Silver (and the Hero4 Black if you have an LCD BacPac) later this summer via a firmware update.
This is certainly a huge improvement over the entry-level Hero. That said, it’s also more than double the price. The entry-level Hero is $130, and the Hero+ LCD is $300. At that price it just seems that you should save up a little longer and get the Hero4 Silver for $400. You’ll have so many more ways to mount it, audio will be better because you can take it out of the case, you’ll be able to swap batteries, and you’ll have access to higher resolution/frame-rate shooting modes (and Protune), too. It just seems like that extra hundred bucks is worth it. Anyway, the Hero+ LCD will be available as of June 6th 7th. [

It may be either a loose connection to the LCD screen, that the LCD screen is faulty and needs to be replaced or worst case that there is a fault on the motherboard.
Try shining a torch at an angle close to the LCD screen to check if you can detect an image at all when using the camera. It will be very faint so try it in a darkened room if possible.
If you can detect an image it means that there is a backlight problem with the screen. Either there is no power being supplied from the motherboard to the backlight circuit in the LCD screen or the backlight circuit in the screen is faulty and the screen will have to be replaced as it cannot be repaired. Hopefully it is not a motherboard problem in supplying backlight power to the screen.
If you cannot detect an image (or even if you can) then unfortunately without a schematic, the only way to determine if it is a problem with the screen or the motherboard is to replace one or the other. Again hopefully it is not a motherboard problem.
Here’s a link to a video that shows how to replace the LCD screen + digitizer in the camera. This will also help you to check if the LCD video flex cable connection is OK.
Here’s a link to the GoPro Hero5 Black Repair guides which may also help if the video isn’t clear enough at some points. Unfortunately there is no ifixit guide showing the LCD screen removal.
