For most customers, visiting a professional repair provider with certified technicians who use genuine Apple parts is the safest and most reliable way to get a repair. These providers include Apple and Apple Authorized Service Providers, and Independent Repair Providers, who have access to genuine Apple parts.* Repairs performed by untrained individuals using nongenuine parts might affect the safety of the device or functionality of the display. Apple displays are designed to fit precisely within the device. Additionally, repairs that don"t properly replace screws or cowlings might leave behind loose parts that could damage the battery, cause overheating, or result in injury.
Depending on your location, you can get your iPhone display replaced—in or out of warranty—by visiting an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider, or by shipping your iPhone to an Apple Repair Center. Genuine Apple parts are also available for out-of-warranty repairs from Independent Repair Providers or through Self Service Repair.*
The iPhone display is engineered together with iOS software for optimal performance and quality. A nongenuine display might cause compatibility or performance issues. For example, an issue might arise after an iOS software update that contains display updates.
* Independent Repair Providers have access to genuine Apple parts, tools, training, service guides, diagnostics, and resources. Repairs by Independent Repair Providers are not covered by Apple"s warranty or AppleCare plans, but might be covered by the provider"s own repair warranty. Self Service Repair provides access to genuine Apple parts, tools, and repair manuals so that customers experienced with the complexities of repairing electronic devices can perform their own out-of-warranty repair. Self Service Repair is currently available in certain countries or regions for specific iPhone models introduced in 2021 or later. To view repair manuals and order parts for eligible models, go to the Self Service Repair page.

First I didn"t think the iPhone would factory reset, but I saw a video where et looked like it did. Can anyone tell me, does the iPhone factory reset after screen replacement or any other sort of repair?
My iPhone dropped, but I have a screen protector so I thought it would be fine, but the cracks went underneath the protector and my actual phone screen cracked. So are iPhone protectors even worth getting?
A military-grade maximum protection phone case is worth getting if you’re worried about that screen cracking which is always a big concern for me personally. I purchased the most rugged Otter Box I could find. It doesn’t have a screen cover which in my opinion is worth the viewing experience.

A broken iPhone screen is no fun. After all, we use our phones for almost everything. If the touch response isn’t working, using your phone can be difficult, and it might not be possible to use it at all. This can make it hard to keep up with friends, plan your day, and even do your job.
There are several reasons your iPhone touchscreen could stop working. One of the most common reasons is physical damage. If your screen stopped working after it hit something, the damage is most likely physical.
Damage from excessive heat is actually quite common. Those who use a car vent clip for their iPhones are likely to experience heat damage if they turn the heat on. Many might not realize that the vent is even on since they don’t feel it, but the iPhone could get damaged in the process.
If your iPhone was exposed to salt water before it stopped working, then that was most likely the cause of the damage. Salt water is corrosive and, while your phone might have been fine right away, the damage could continue to progress for weeks after exposure.
The iPhone actually has two parts to its screen. The top part is the digitizer and the part underneath is the LCD screen. The digitizer is the touchscreen and the LCD screen displays the contents of your iPhone.
When your digitizer isn’t working, your iPhone touch response won’t work properly. Meaning you’ll see your screen, but you won’t be able to interact with it correctly. Sometimes, only part of your screen will work, or it will take extra pressure to tap something.
If your LCD screen is out, your iPhone won’t turn on at all and you won’t see anything on your screen. Alternatively, your screen will be blurry or fuzzy or will have some sort of visible damage.
If there’s a problem with your digitizer, there are a few fixes you can try before taking your iPhone to a repair shop. However, if it’s the LCD, you’ll need to start searching for repairs straight away.
Some users might have activated certain accessibility settings that can interfere with how the touchscreen works. The most common culprit is Touch Accommodations. If enabled, your iPhone screen will seem buggy and you’ll have a difficult time navigating the touchscreen.
Alternatively, you can click the Side button three times and this will disable it on most newer devices. For older devices, you may need to tap the Home button three times.
If turning your iPhone off and on again doesn’t do anything, you’ll need to do a factory reset. Be sure to back up your iPhone before moving forward. If you can use your screen in some way, navigate to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings.
If you can’t navigate here, you’ll need to plug your iPhone into a computer to perform a factory reset. After resetting, in rare cases, your touchscreen will work again.
If you do choose to get your iPhone repaired, you’ll most likely need to do this anyway. This ensures that the technician won’t be able to access your personal data. They may also need to test Face ID to make sure the repair worked and will need the phone to be unlocked to do so, which means you’re better off erasing all your data first.
If your iPhone is under warranty, you’ll want to get Apple to take a look at it as soon as possible. Visit the Apple website to figure out if you have a warranty. If you have AppleCare+, your repair will be deeply discounted.
If you aren’t under warranty and don’t have AppleCare+, you can still use the above link to find authorized repair shops near you. Apple-recognized repair shops are the best place to go to get your device repaired. However, they can be expensive.
If your phone is an older model or you’re on a budget, consider exploring other repair alternatives. Screen repair shops and kiosks are popular, and some of them do a great job for a fraction of the price. However, you might not get the best repair.
You can also attempt the repair yourself, but if you make a mistake you could do more damage. If you want to try it yourself, you can buy iPhone screens online and most of them include a DIY toolkit.
If your iPhone isn’t working but you need to access certain files, you can still do that. To do so, you’ll need to activate Voice Control. This can be helpful for backing up and restoring your iPhone.
To do this, your phone screen will need to at least partially work. If so, try to make your way to Settings > Accessibility > Voice Control and turn that on.
If Siri’s enabled, you can enable Voice Control by saying “Hey Siri, turn on Voice Control.” Once enabled, you can access your iPhone without using the touchscreen.
If your iPhone stopped responding to touch after damage, heat, or salt water exposure, a repair is likely needed. However, a user might have activated Touch Accommodations, which could be the culprit. There are also rare cases where a software problem can cause the touchscreen to work and a factory reset could solve the problem.
No matter what happened to your iPhone screen, it’s important to get your device functional again. After all, we use our phone for everything nowadays, and not being able to use it can change how we engage in daily life.

Case 1: "My iPhone 7 Plus screen goes black and won"t turn on after it was dropped. Though the screen is black, the phone is on because it still rings when somebody call. How to fix iPhone black screen of death?"
iPhone black screen is a commonly seen problem that you cannot turn on the device. Usually, the iPhone screen goes black when it comes across a critical system error which can cause the system to shut down.
Since the iPhone or iPad screen is unresponsive and black like the phone is dead, the black screen error is also called iPhone black screen of death. When you encounter this problem, don’t worry yet – below are 4 solutions to fix your iPhone which is stuck on a black screen, and they are easy to follow.
Why your iPhone screen is black and won"t turn on? Basically, it could be caused by hardware damage or software issues like a failed software update or system crashing. According to the root, the solution should be different.
Firstly, your iPhone could have black screen of death because of a hardware problem, for example, your phone screen is broken or damaged after the device is dropped or water drown. If that’s the cause of your iPhone black screen, unfortunately, it’s usually hard to handle the problem by yourself, so you had better take the phone to Apple Store.
Also, the iPhone black screen of death could be caused by a software problem, for example, a software crash can freeze your iPhone screen and make it turn black, which can be resulted from update failure, unstable firmware, etc.
Mostly, when you don’t drop your iPhone but it cannot turn on while still functioning or just keep restarting, this is due to a software problem. As for the software-related black screen problem,in the following parts we will provide 4 viable solutions to repair it.
Apart from the hardware or software issues, there’s also possibility that your iPhone screen turns black because of drained battery or a crashed app. Remember to have a check beforehand.
If that’s the case, just charge your iPhone or remove the app. If your phone is long time no use, you have to charge it for a longer time (usually more than 30 min) to see it function. And besides removing the glitchy app, you can also check for some updates. Anyway, the fix is easy, so we will not develop more here.
When your iPhone (or iPad and iPod Touch) has a black screen and unresponsive, you can hard reset the iPhone to troubleshoot black screen. It’s also an Apple recommended way to fix many subtle system error.
This solution is to fix the iPhone black screen of death using third-party iOS system recovery software. Because the way using iTunes (Solution 3) to recover your iPhone black screen will clear your data, this way is more recommended if you want to fix it simply and avoid data loss.
Passvers iOS System Recovery is a handy and powerful iOS system recovery program that can replace iTunes to fix common iOS system issues, including iPhone black screen of death, iPhone stuck in recovery mode, Apple logo, update failure, unresponsive iPhone, and etc.
The program can fix iPhone black screen with 3 different modes, i.e., Free Quick Fix, Standard Mode, and Advanced Mode, from quick troubleshooting to deep scanning. You are recommended totry from the free way firstto do the fixes. And in most situations, it prevents from erasing data on your device (except if you use the Advanced Mode).
Next, connect iPhone in black screen to PC via USB cable. The program will detect your device. If your iPhone can be detected, please choose "Free Quick Fix" to repair your phone. If you cannot select such mode, move on to the next.
Passvers iOS System Recovery also offers Standard Mode and Advanced Mode to repair the dead iPhone. Select Standard Mode if you don"t want to lose data. (Advanded Mode will deep scan your iPhone and erase all data.)
In this step, you need to put your device into recovery mode, just follow the instruction of the program to put your iPhone 6/7/8/X/11/12/13/14 or other iDevice into recovery mode.
In this step, the Passvers program will detect your phone model and the iOS version. If it fails to do that, you can manually select them for your device. Then check the "Repair" button.
The solution uses iTunes to fix iPhone/iPad that has black screen and won"t turn on. But you should be aware that all your data on the iOS device will be erased after restoring the iPhone with iTunes.
Step 1. Install the latest version iTunes on your computer. Launch the program. Then connect black screen iPhone to the computer with a USB cable that came with it.
If iTunes couldn"t recognize your iPhone, you can enter your iPhone into the recovery mode manually. Do the same way as when you try to hard reset your iPhone (
Step 3. Click Restore to restore the iPhone to factory settings. If you have an iTunes backup, the iTunes will prompt you to restore the backup to get back data.
However, the iTunes solution doesn"t work for some users. When trying to fix black screen with iTunes, some users get new problems: iPhone is stuck in recovery mode, iTunes couldn"t recognize your iPhone and throws error 9, error 4013, etc. One way is to fix in the DFU mode, but because it"s relatively complex, using a way without iTunes (
If your iPhone screen turns black after screen replacement or after the phone has been dropped/ water-damaged, the black screen of death is probably caused by hardware damage, especially when the iPhone screen is black but the phone is still on.
If you fail to fix iPhone black screen with the above methods or iPhone screen went black but the phone still works, you should get iPhone screen repair service from the local store. If your iPhone is still under warranty or under AppleCare plan, take the phone to local Apple store to get help.
For software issues, it’s hard to tell. If you have no memory that your phone has been damaged due to some reason, we recommend you try the fixes for software problems first: charge it for 30 min, identify some unstable apps, hard reset your iPhone, fix it with
Fixing your iPhone black screen of death will erase your data or not usually depends on the method you try. The most common methods like hard resetting will not cause any data loss. But if you try to restore your iPhone with iTunes, your data will be cleared.
Here are some points you can pay attention to:Keep your iPhone in a normal temperature. Your phone may turn into black screen when it’s too hot or too cold.
Backup your data. Sometimes you may need to restore or factory reset your iPhone to troubleshoot the problem, so back it up beforehand is always preferred.

The iPhone® continues to be one of the most widely used smartphones available and it"s not hard to guess why. Apple® products are accessible, easy to use, and pair effortlessly with the other devices we use every day.
We use our iPhones for everything from work to staying connected to family, so it can be a huge hassle when it stops working. Despite their durability, iPhones can still break or malfunction and a common issue Asurion Experts see regularly is what"s called the "black screen of death."
Almost every electronic device has its own version of a "screen of death." Computers and laptops have the "blue screen of death" and game consoles have the "red ring of death." This phrase is used to identify issues that the device is facing that are serious enough to cause the device to become completely non-working, often needing professional intervention to repair.
In the case of the iPhone black screen of death, the device"s screen is blank and won"t respond to touch, but you can tell by vibrations or sounds that the phone is still functioning. This is an immensely frustrating issue to face because, without screen visibility or touch responsiveness, your iPhone is not much more than a vibrating paperweight.
When your technology works, your life does too. Asurion Experts have the tools and experience to help fix problems in more than 6,000+ devices, and the iPhone is no exception. While it"s true that many of these "issues of death" are serious malfunctions, very few of them are irreversible. Here are the tactics our experts recommend to diagnose and troubleshoot your iPhone"s black screen of death and get it working again.
Most often, a black screen of death issue can happen from damage to the screen during a bad drop or accident. If the components connecting the screen to the motherboard sever, the phone screen will be unresponsive. But the black screen of death can also happen because of software issues in the device. Malfunctions with an iOS upgrade or downgrade can potentially cause the issue, as well as complications from attempting to jailbreak or modify the firmware on your own.
No matter how the black screen of death in your iPhone occurred, there are a few troubleshooting methods that you can use to try to fix it or at least prevent the issue from permanently affecting the data or photos you have stored on the phone.
The very first troubleshooting trick to try is just making sure that your device is, in fact, a victim of the black screen of death. A drained battery can look just like this issue, so it"s important to rule that out first. Connect your device to a functioning power source, and wait for it to respond. If you see the Apple logo or another interaction on the screen, you"ve solved it. If you continue to see no response from the screen or the device vibrates as if it was charging, you know with certainty that you"re facing the black screen of death.
Malfunctions within app software can also cause iPhones to have the black screen of death. All apps are not created equal, and if your iPhones current software is not compatible with a particular app, you could get a screen malfunction. In this case, killing the app should enable your screen again. To do this, swipe up or quickly press the home button twice (if your phone still has one) to see all of your open apps. Swipe up on your recent apps to identify which is causing the malfunction and close it. With the app closed, you should be able to have full responsiveness on your screen again. If the problem persists or you can"t access your apps due to a blank screen, you"re likely dealing with a bigger issue.
If you"ve encountered issues with your favorite electronic devices before, you"ve probably heard someone say, “Well have you tried turning it off and back on again?". This may not sound like the most helpful advice, but it"s actually the first thing our experts suggest when facing a potential software or hardware issue with your iPhone. Turning a device off and back on again is sometimes called a forced restart, or a hard reset. Doing this simple action forces your iPhone to power cycle and in turn, clears its short-term memory. This will not wipe your device or remove any of your data; it just gives the device an opportunity to clear all open applications and start fresh. If your issue is being caused by a rogue app or malfunctioning system process, the force restart will clear it.
If none of the aforementioned troubleshooting tips solve your iPhone"s black screen of death, it"s time to consider heavier duty fixes. iPhones have a special troubleshooting tool called "recovery mode" that allows a computer to diagnose and attempt to fix software issues.
Situations like these are why it is beneficial to perform a backup on your iPhone from time to time. That way, if something goes wrong, you"ll have a recent backup to restore from. Need help? Check out our guide on how to restore your iPhone from a backup.
If after these troubleshooting tips, you"re still left with the black screen of death, it may be time to consider a factory reset for your iPhone. Factory resets should always be the last thing you try because unless you have backed up your iPhone recently, you risk losing your data. But if a truly sinister bug in your system is stopping your screen from working, a factory reset could take care of it.
If you"ve tried these steps and still need a little help, we"re right around the corner. Schedule a repair at the nearest uBreakiFix® by Asurion or Asurion Tech Repair & Solutions™ store and our certified experts can get your device back up and running as soon as the same day.

iFixit has been offering OLED screens for those who would like to tackle repairs on their own. Those go for around $100 less than what Apple charges for an official screen replacement but now, it’s started offering LCD replacement for iPhone X, XS, and XS Max. It’s an interesting downgrade from OLED but some on a budget with DIY interest might find it’s a great option.
Apple’s screen repair costs jumped considerably with the arrival of the iPhone X. At this point, it costs between $279 and $329 to get an OLED on the X, XS, and 11 Pro.
we’re now offering an LCD screen option for the iPhone X, XS, and XS Max. These LCDs (and their Fix Kits) are less than half the price of the OLED models we sell. They’re a little darker (about 50 nits worth), the resolution is a little lower, and the colors and contrast ratio won’t be quite the same.
But you might remember that, until a couple years ago, most phones had LCD displays, including phones you probably loved. Apple notably stuck with LCD displays while Samsung was experimenting with early OLED, and Apple still uses LCDs in its iPhone 8 and XR models.
Indeed, it’s like turning your X or XS into a XR, display-wise anyway. iFixit’s new LCD options run $75 for the X, $85 for the XS, and then jump up to $165 for the XS Max.
iFixit highlights “these LCD replacements are hand-tested in the USA to our rigorous quality standards, and we back them up with a lifetime warranty.”

Q:"Vertical lines on iPhone 11 screen!! This is what happen to my phone after I bought it 3 days. Several lines appeared on the screen suddenly. Any idea why it happens? Any other user facing the same problem with me?" – From an iPhone 11 user
There are always a large number of reports from users stating that they find vertical lines on iPhone screen. This is an old problem, starting with the iPhone 4 and continuing through the iPhone X, 11 and 13. the color of the lines may vary from black, red, blue, green, pink, grey or purple. It could result from physical damage and software problems. Anyway, to solve this problem, you should follow the 10 solutions below, so that you can get rid of the lines while reducing the cost of the repair to the minimum.
The colored lines on the iPhone screen in vertical direction could be caused by a few things. No matter which specific situation you"re encountering, the following content will give you some idea of why.
The vertical line problem often occurs with Apple users and you might not know what to do when it appears on your screen. Here a video tutorial will lead you to the right place and guide you to fix this issue clearly.
A force restart is similar to taking out the battery and putting it back on. It is going to completely shut down all the apps and programs running on your iPhone. Whenever you see there are lines across the screen, you can fix it easily by hard rebooting your iPhone. After the hard reboot, the lines on the screen may disappear. To hard restart your iPhone, follow the tutorial enclosed below.
iPhone 6 or former iPhones: Press the "Power" and "Home" button on your iPhone simultaneously for around 13 seconds. You will feel the vibration of the phone, then it will turn on.
iPhone 8 and later iPhones: Press the "Volume Up" button and release it quickly, then press the "Volume Down" button and release it quickly; then hold the "Power" button until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
It might seem ridiculous, but in some cases, iPhone screen lines vertical problem are caused by things as little as water drops or dust. These things can be difficult to notice when you have a screen protector on the screen. If the water drops or dust get stuck between the screen and the screen protector, it is natural that there will be vertical lines across the screen. Therefore, you might as well remove the screen protector, clean the screen with a cloth and see if the lines have gone.
Essentially, cycle charging means charging the battery to 100%, then using it until it drains to 0%. When the phone is charged to capacity again, the vertical lines might disappear.
It is also possible for vertical lines to appear when LCD cables become disconnected from the logic board during sudden jolts or a fall. A slightly shifted iPhone screen does not necessarily mean that it is damaged; it is just a slight shift.
It might be workable to remove the vertical lines by gently pushing the iPhone"s screen back into place to reconnect the cables with the logic board. Make sure that you do not apply too much pressure to the screen in order to prevent the screen from breaking further. The steps are as follows:
This issue may result from the bugs of some outdated iOS versions. A user complains to us that vertical lines on iPhone 5s screen, and simply updating the system works. We understand that some users may think that iOS updates are useless in general, but that is not true. Except for the updates of new features, iOS update often contains bug fixes, which is very important to the normal function of the iPhone.
Step 2. If there is an available update, press the "Download and Install" button to confirm your update. The updating process will begin, what you need to do is just make sure the Wi-Fi connection is good and wait for the update to finish.
Firstly, install and launch Joyoshare UltFix on the computer. Next, plug your iPhone into the computer, and click on iOS System Repair section. After that, hit the "Start" button to proceed.
You are now in the mode selection window. To avoid losing data, choose the "Standard Repair" and click on right-arrow button. If your device failed to be detected, refer to the on-screen operations to enter DFU/recoevry mode.
Some of the info about your iPhone will be displayed on the screen. Make sure all the info is correct and change the wrong points. Then click the "Download" button to download the matching firmware package.
Lastly, click the "Repair" button. The downloaded firmware package will be unzipped, and the program will start to fix the vertical lines on your iPhone screen. A few minutes later, the repairing process will finish, and the lines on the screen will disappear.
No matter is purple vertical lines on iPhone screen, or other colors, these ways may help you. A factory reset will be needed in the way. In this process, your device is wiped and returned to its original factory settings. All your data will be lost. Before restoring your data, ensure that it has been backed up. To revert to factory settings:
Another alternative to restore your iPhone with vertical lines to default settings is to using iTunes. As we all know, iTunes always be regarded as an official Apple solution to help troubleshoot some software issues. You can make it by directly connecting iPhone to the latest version of iTunes, click iPhone device sign, then go to Summary → Restore iPhone → Restore.
The DFU mode, Device Firmware Update, can be tested to restore your iPhone. This way clears data on your iPhone and reloads settings by default. You can first enter DFU mode and then do operations below:
As we mentioned in the beginning, the vertical lines on your iPhone screen are usually a sign of physical damage to your hardware. If you see the lines after dropping your phone, it is very likely the screen or the motherboard is damaged. In this case, letting the Apple technicians fix the hardware damages will be much safer than repairing it on your own.
It is common for smartphone devices to have vertical lines. A variety of gadgets are affected, not just iOS devices. Plug your iPhone into a working charger and leave it for at least an hour. If you come back and it still won"t turn on, then you can move onto the next steps.Quick tip: You should also feel the back of your iPhone, without its case. If it"s incredibly hot, your iPhone might be overheating and will need to cool down before you can use it again. Leave it in a cool area for a while.
Hard reset your iPhoneOn an iPhone without a Home button (iPhone 8 and newer): Press the volume up button, then the volume down button, and then press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo appear.

It usually does this by installing a fresh version of iOS, the software that your phone runs on.Quick tip: There"s a chance that putting your iPhone into recovery mode may factory reset it, erasing all of its data. Treat recovery mode as a last resort, and if you have the chance, make sure to back up your personal data.
If none of these solutions work, then you"ve run into a problem that you probably can"t fix on your own. It"s probably a hardware issue — for example, the wires that power your iPhone"s screen might be faulty.

Despite its price, the iPhone is a delicate device that needs to be handled carefully. Obviously, this means that you shouldn"t drop it or smother it in honey. But it also means that you need to keep track of its temperature.
An iPhone that gets too hot or too cold will shut down and give you a black screen — worst case scenario, your battery might short out permanently. This can be a big problem if you"re trying to run multiple high-performance apps at once, or have your iPhone in a thick case that traps heat.
If you keep hitting black screens despite uninstalling recent apps, there might be an issue with your version of iOS. You can put the iPhone into recovery mode, like we described earlier, or you can factory reset it.

As often as you use your smartphone, it’s almost inevitable that you’ll eventually drop it. You may be extremely careful, but it only takes one fumble for your phone to tumble. While iPhone screens are designed to withstand impact, you might still end up with a shattered screen.
The good news: a broken screen doesn’t mean your phone is kaput. In fact, if only the glass is broken, the fix is quick and inexpensive. The bad news: if the LCD screen is broken, you’re looking at a pricier repair.
If you’ve looked into replacement parts, you’ve likely come across two very different options: a glass screen, and an LCD screen. While the first option is cheap, the second is definitely not. Here’s the difference:
1. The glass screen is the exterior layer on your phone’s display. While it is specially engineered for durability, it’s still just glass (between layers of plastic film), which is why it’s not very pricey to replace.
Most of the time, the damage to your screen will be pretty obvious. You’ll see the spider web patterns of shattered glass across the front of your iPhone. Occasionally, however, the glass screen will be intact, and you might not realize the damage until you try to use it. Whether the damage is visible or not, it’s a good idea to run a quick diagnostic to determine the extent of it.
If you encounter any of these problems, you’re dealing with a broken LCD screen. If the glass is shattered, but the display is clear and touch capability is working, that’s a good sign. The problem is probably just the glass screen.
Whether you’re dealing with cracked glass or a broken LCD screen, you can find a quick, reliable repair service at FastPhoneRepair.com. Our qualified technicians will get your iPhone repaired and up and running again in record time and at reasonable rates.
