Waveshare actually has several round LCD modules, I chose the 1.28-inch model as it was readily available on Amazon. You could probably perform the same experiments using a different module, although you may require a different driver.

Open the Arduino folder. Inside you’ll find quite a few folders, one for each display size that Waveshare supports. As I’m using the 1.28-inch model, I selected theLCD_1inch28folder.

Once you do that, you can open your Arduino IDE and then navigate to that folder. Inside the folder, there is a sketch file namedLCD_1inch28.inowhich you will want to open.

Unfortunately, Waveshare doesn’t offer documentation for this, but you can gather quite a bit of information by reading theLCD_Driver.cppfile, where the functions are somewhat documented.

Here is the hookup for the ESP32 and the GC9A01 display.  As with most ESP32 hookup diagrams, it is important to use the correct GPIO numbers instead of physical pins. The diagram shows the WROVER, so if you are using a different module you’ll need to consult its documentation to ensure that you hook it up properly.

WO128128A is a circular monochrome COG graphic LCD module made of 128x128 dot matrix format. This Round STN COG module is built in with ST75161 IC; it supports 8080/6800 parallel, 3-wire and 4-wire serial SPI, I2C interface, Viewing Direction 6 o"clock, 1/136 driving duty, 1/12 BIAS.

The supply voltage for logic of WO128128A is 2.7V to 3.3V, typical value 3V. This module can be operating at temperatures from -20℃ to +70℃; its storage temperatures range from -30℃ to +80℃. WEA012832F is a graphic COG with PCB OLED module, which is made of resolution 128x32 pixels, diagonal size 0.91 inch. WEA012832F is built in with SSD1306 IC; it supports I2C interface, 1/32 driving duty. WEA012832F model is having PCB outline size 35.80 × 12.0 mm with 4x1 metal pins on module.

The supply voltage for logic of WEA012832F is 3V/ 5V, supply voltage for display is 7.5V (Internal Boots), display with 50% check board current is 13mA@ 3VDD (typical value). This OLED module can be operating at temperatures from -40℃ to +80℃; its storage temperatures range from -40℃ to +85℃.

WEA012864L is a graphic COG with PCB OLED module, which is made of resolution 128x64 pixels, diagonal size 1.28 inch. WEA012864L is built in with SH1106 IC; it supports I2C interface, 1/64 driving duty. WEA012864L model is having PCB outline size 35.50 × 32.0 mm with mounting holes on board and 4x1 metal pins on module.

The supply voltage for logic of WEA012864L is 3V/ 5V, supply voltage for display is 7.5V (Internal Boots), display with 50% check board current is 25mA@ 3.3VDD (typical value). This OLED module can be operating at temperatures from -40℃ to +80℃; its storage temperatures range from -40℃ to +85℃.
