canon lcd screen not working factory

I have a Canon Rebel T3i and one day it was working fine, but in the very next day BAM the lcd just stoped working and now just show me a black screen.
I searched all the internet trying some way to fix my screen, but none of them worked. Below some information about what I found on the internet and have tried.
> My LCD it"s working fine, the light inside LCD turn on, but just don"t show any image, even the menu, info and other stuff. Just a awful black screen. And if I press the Disp. button I can see the screen turn off because the LCD light turn off. And, even more strange, if I try to upgrade the firmware, the screen works again for a few seconds when show up the Loading screen (moments before appears the list of files to upgrade the firmware, but I can"t see the list, I just can see the Loading screen)
> Verify the "display off sensor". My Rebel T3i just don"t have this kind of sensor, I know how this sensor"s looks like ( http://www.manualslib.com/manual/454362/Canon-Eos-Rebel-Sl1-18-55mm-Is-Stm-Kit.html?page=15#manual ) and I can affirm that my camera doesn"t have this thing. (Anyway I have removed the rubber and plastic outer viewfinder fitting from the camera and cleaned the area around the viewfinder and doesn"t worked)
> Upgrade Firmware. I read about fix this problem upgrading the firmware, even without menu image I got it. But still not working. After upgrading the firmware I confirmed the firmware version using EOS Utility in my computer.

Your Canon camera may occasionally have issues that don’t produce warning messages or other obvious signs of what’s wrong. Solving such issues can be a little challenging. With the help of these tips, you can increase your chances of success while using the troubleshooting methods for your Canon camera.
The LCD turns on and off by pressing the DISP button on some Canon Power Shot cameras. To activate the LCD, press the DISP button. This is typical when the Canon camera has both an LCD screen and an electronic viewfinder for framing shots.
By pressing the DISP button, you can return the live screen to the LCD screen if it is currently engaged with the electronic viewfinder. There are a variety of causes for LCD problems, from incorrect settings to battery problems. To solve the screen that is not working, follow the below tips.
Try switching the camera settings back to default if the solutions don’t help. Canon is one brand of DSLR that has a two-button reset feature. You can reset the camera to its factory default settings when the Display is blank or unresponsive. Consult your camera’s handbook for a list of individual camera reset buttons.
The image does not include the time or date.●The photograph is missing the date and time of the shot. The image data includes shooting information, including the date and time. The time and date can be added to images when printing them using this information.
A few things can bring on this issue in a Canon camera. Make sure the battery is fully charged before correctly inserting it. It’s conceivable that the battery wasn’t correctly put even though it was in a charger. Alternately, it is possible the charger is not correctly inserted into an outlet, which prevents the battery from charging.
Make sure the battery’s metal terminals are clean. The contact points should be cleaned of any dirt with a dry cloth. Additionally, the camera won’t turn on if the door to the battery compartment is not shut tightly.
If you hold the camera close to fluorescent light, the image on the LCD screen can flicker. Remove the camera from the fluorescent light’s path. Additionally, when analyzing a scene while shooting in low light, the LCD could appear to flicker. However, you can need a repair if the LCD panel looks to flicker in every shooting circumstance.
Most likely, dust or other airborne particles reflect the flash’s light, which causes white dots. Alternatively, wait till the air is clear before taking the picture. The lens may potentially have blemishes that affect the clarity of the images. Make certain the lens is spotless. If not, you can have an issue with the image sensor that results in white dots on the pictures.
The LCD image and the real photo image don’t always match up perfectly in some Canon point-and-shoot cameras. For instance, LCDs might only show 95% of the captured image. This difference is more noticeable when the subject is close to the lens. Check the list of features for your Canon camera to see if a percentage of scene coverage is mentioned.
It can be challenging to understand how to display photos on a TV, to align the camera’s video system settings with the TV’s video system, press the Menu button on the device and choose the Settings tab. Due to the lack of an HDMI output port or output functionality, some Power Shot cameras cannot display photographs on a TV screen.
The camera typically cannot save additional images or videos if the memory card is faulty or full. Try recording and saving it to a different storage device to rule out a camera SD card issue. Repair your camera’s memory card if it functions.
Many Canon customers have encountered battery issues like “cannot communicate with battery” or “incompatible battery error.” It typically occurs when your batteries are improperly connected, when there is dust on the battery terminals or in the battery compartment, or when the battery is harmed.
You may be concerned if you receive camera memory card issues like “Card error,” “This card cannot be used,” “write error,” and others since they put your priceless pictures and videos on the SSD in danger.
Back up your photographs and videos before formatting the camera card. If the SD card cannot be accessed due to a logical fault, use a Canon SD card recovery program to recover the deleted files.
If you’ve tried formatting to remedy a Canon DSLR issue and it hasn’t worked, your SD card is probably destroyed. Purchase a brand-new SDXC or SDHC camera card.
After a Canon DSLR error code has been fixed, there have been reports of corrupted saved videos and photographs. Use Canon’s Stellar Repair for Photo software to repair damaged JPEG and RAW (NEF and NRW) image files. Stellar Repair for Video, which works with Canon H.264/H.265 MP4, MOV, and AVI files, is the best program for fixing damaged video.
Yes, you can fix it, as the LCD of a digital camera that needs to be shuttered again frequently has a hardware problem. The Shutter’s gear motor becomes strained, sustains damage, or becomes dirty. The gear motor may benefit from lubrication. For replacement or repair, go to the dealer if your digital camera is still covered by warranty. Avoid opening it yourself.
It’s helpful to troubleshoot Canon camera errors, while if you cannot resolve the error, get in touch with the nearby authorized Canon Service Center.Use Canon Recovery software, Stellar Photo Recovery, to recover images and movies lost due to camera malfunction. It is preferable to use the free demo version to see the files that can be recovered from a Canon camera.

With the camera turned on, try shining a torch at an angle close to the LCD screen and check if there are any images visible at all. They will be very faint so trying this in a darkened room may help to see them if they are there.
If there are images then there is a backlight problem with the LCD screen. This could be due to a faulty screen flex cable connection (at either end, screen or motherboard), a faulty LCD display or a problem with the motherboard.
If there are no images, then it may be a faulty LCD screen flex cable connection (at either end, screen or motherboard), a faulty LCD display or a problem with the motherboard.
I realize that the possible causes of the problem are the same for both scenarios but if it is only a backlight problem and replacing the screen doesn’t solve it, then you are one step closer in troubleshooting the problem on the motherboard by knowing this.
I don’t know the camera but I think that the EOS 750D is the same as a Canon Rebel T6i as they share the same user manual and also use the same LCD screen. (supplier example only)
If you wish to try it here’s the ifixit Canon EOS Rebel T6i LCD Display Replacement guide that shows how to replace the LCD screen in the camera. At least you can check the cable connection to the screen and if it appears to be OK maybe replace the screen as it is not too expensive.

I did a dumb thing while travelling with my new canon M50. I tried to save battery life by turning off the LCD screen and now it is permanently off. I can still take pictures but I can’t see the menu, I can’t review photos, just completely off.
Another solution that is all but guaranteed to work for you is to "Restore Default Camera Settings". This too is found under MENU (function 5): Clear Settings... select "Clear all camera settings".
My mother once called me to say her screen had stopped working and she was unable to use it to compose or review images. Since I knew she was on a beach at the time, I asked her if she was wearing Polarized sunglasses. She was. And I knew she preferred Portrait Mode orientation. Rotating the camera resulted in the polarized light from the LCD being cancelled by the sunglasses, making it look like the camera LCD was dead.
If any of the methods above don"t resolve your screen display problem, then there"s a fault with the camera itself. It"d consider that to be extremely unlikely but it"s hypothetically possible. Be sure to let us know so we can notify others with a similar question and identify any design flaws for other users.

thanks Phil for your reply my problem is I am currently on holiday and have only took the R7 as I wanted to learn it I have tried a different battery and took the card out I’ve had the lens off I have done nothing with the camera and took a maximum of say 25 pics when the issue happened it just black screened the camera is working and firing as the beam light has been working and I can hear the shutter. I have also left the battery out overnight with the camera powered on but with no joy. I can’t see anything through the viewfinder and the screen is black but I can see anything on the screen or on the viewfinder to get to the settings to reset but I was hoping that there was a method of manual reset ie: powering the camera on while holding a combination of buttons. It’s so frustrating that I can’t take pics of my grandkids as I’m on holiday for 10 days.

Unfortunately without a screen it will be difficult to set to factory defaults so I would attempt a hard reboot. In the older cameras with a date/time battery all one had to do was remove that battery but the 60D maintains date/time by another method. This procedure will often work with newer Canon DSLR"s; note that I said "often" so no guarantees. Having said that it will not damage anything.
5. If you have to wait a few hours for the battery to charge that is fine. Once you have indication it is charged, reinstall it in the camera (check it is OFF) and once the battery is installed turn the power ON. If you have successly done a hard reset you will have to reset the date and time. Obviously you will be aware of this by a working screen, hopefully. Good luck!

Photography is not just a creative pursuit but a skill mastered with practice. Nevertheless, you don’t need to wrap your head around this problem. Camera recording black or dark photos is a common issue. And can be easily fixed using the below methods: Set aperture, shutter speed, and ISO to prevent dark pictures
Your camera would do the best job when it receives the good amount of light. A combination of right aperture, shutter speed, and ISO settings is a key to perfect photos. When the 3 elements are not set to the correct level, your camera will produce underexposed, dark, or black photos.
In addition, the camera pictures can turn out black because of shooting on low battery or with a dirty lens. In case the LCD screen shows a black screen instead of a photo, the problem could be with the LCD backlighting.
As an amateur photographer, you may not want to fidget with the multiple settings in your camera. Instead, take advantage of the camera Auto, also called Program Mode. The automatic mode in the camera auto selects the aperture and shutter speed settings to generate the best possible light exposure in your photo.
If photos are black on camera LCD screen but appear fine on computer, it is possible that your LCD backlight is dead. Besides, to be rest assured that camera taking black pictures is actually an LCD display issue you can do the following checks: Make sure the digital camera powered on when viewing the photo.
If your camera LCD display still shows black and you can’t see any picture, contact the manufacturer for repair. If the camera is in warranty, they should replace the LCD display.
If the pictures continue to come out black, try by resetting your digital camera to default settings. The reset option may vary with camera model. For instance, Canon variants usually have ‘Clear all camera settings’ options whereas to reset Nikon DSLR, navigate to ‘Reset Shooting Options’ from the camera menu.
Histogram helps to assess the picture exposure settings on your camera LCD. It is a graphical representation of the brightness levels in the picture. You can quickly find if the photo is underexposed and change the camera settings accordingly.

The digitiser is (usually) a matrix of very thin horizontal and vertical contacts that lay across the front of the touch screen as a grid. The horizontal contacts make contact with the vertical ones when the screen is touched. The electronics of the camera is then able to use these contact points in the same way that we would figure out our position on a map with a grid reference number (X axis and Y axis co-ordinates).
Digitisers are extremely difficult to replace. It is much more time and cost effective to replace the entire touch screen / digitiser assembly as a unit rather than try to separate the digitiser from the screen and attach a new one (assuming that you can get hold of a replacement digitiser only)
If you are able to buy a replacement touch screen assembly from eBay for example, and are willing to take apart your camera then you should be able to replace it your self. The replacement touch screen assembly will already have a new flexible circuit board attached and should hopefully solve your problem.
I would recommend that you take your camera to a professional repairer and pay for the service to have it repaired (or return it to Canon) as you will have some sort of warranty on the repair, and they are professionally equipped to complete this task.

You may experience problems with your Canon camera from time to time that don"t result in any error messages or other easy-to-follow clues as to the problem. Troubleshooting such problems can be a little tricky. Use these tips to give yourself a better chance of success with your Canon camera troubleshooting techniques.
A few issues can cause this problem in a Canon camera. First, make sure you charge the battery and insert it properly. Even if the battery was inserted in a charger, it"s possible the battery wasn"t inserted properly. Or, possibly, the charger was not plugged into an outlet properly, meaning the battery did not charge.
Make sure the metal terminals on the battery are clean. Use a dry cloth to remove any grime from the contact points. Also, if the battery compartment door is not securely closed, the camera will not turn on.
Some Canon PowerShot cameras have a DISP button, which may turn the LCD on and off. Press the DISP button to turn on the LCD. This is common when the Canon PowerShot camera has an electronic viewfinder option for framing photos, along with the LCD screen for framing photos. The live screen may be active with the electronic viewfinder, so pressing the DISP button can switch the live screen back to the LCD screen.
If you hold the camera near a fluorescent light, the LCD screen image may flicker. Move the camera away from the fluorescent light. The LCD also may appear to flicker when viewing a scene while shooting in minimal light. But if the LCD screen seems to flicker in all types of shooting situations, you may need a repair.
Some Canon point and shoot cameras don"t exactly match the LCD image and the actual photo image. LCDs might only display 95 percent of the image shot, for example. This difference is exaggerated when the subject is close to the lens. Look through the specification list for your Canon PowerShot camera to see if they list a percentage of scene coverage.
Figuring out how to show photos on a TV screen can be tricky. Press the Menubutton on the camera, select the Settingstab, and match the video system settings in the camera with the video system the TV uses. Some PowerShot cameras cannot display photos on a TV screen because the camera doesn"t have an HDMI output capability or an HDMI output port.

If images are not displayed on the LCD monitor or in the viewfinder even after you have performed the above procedures, your camera may be malfunctioning. Please contact the service centers.

The Canon EOS-1D Mark III has a rather different user interface than did the 1D Mark II N, including some new arrangements on the LCD status displays.
Top LCD panel. The new Top LCD panel is familiar, with slightly larger icons, and the addition of High and Low speed icons (H and L) for the two continuous capture modes, and an S for Single frame mode. A Mirror Lockup icon has been added, and the "# Personal Function" icon is now deleted. The new battery icon also has four bars, which Canon calls six modes, as indicated in the diagram above. The last two modes are flashing with one bar, and just flashing empty, at which point the camera usually stops working. (Illustration below courtesy Canon USA.)
Rear LCD panel. More changes are visible on the Rear LCD panel, due to the addition of an external media option (requires a WFT-E2A and a self-powered hard drive or other option). You can set just how to write to all three of the media types via the Function button and the Quick Control dial. Also new is the Wireless LAN connection icon and Data transfer icon that seems to indicate signal strength as well. Gone are the Blue/Amber and Green/Magenta white balance compensation indicators, in favor of a simple "WB +/-" icon. (Illustration below courtesy Canon USA.)
Record Mode. In record mode, pressing the INFObutton displays current camera setting information on the main LCD. Most of this info is not available on the Top or Rear LCDpanels. There is also an option in the Custom menu to display shooting info, for situations when it is difficult to see the other LCD displays.
Playback Mode. The Canon 1D Mark IIIby default shows each image as it"s captured, though you can turn off this function through the Shooting menu. The display mode used in Record Review is the same as was last used in Playback mode, or you can hit the INFO button to cycle to a different mode. Likewise, in Playback mode, you can cycle between the available display options by pressing the INFO button repeatedly. The displays available are single image with basic information displayed on the top (the file number is displayed upper right, the shutter speed and aperture in the upper left), the same but with an overlay displaying image size/quality and and frame number, a detailed shooting info display with a luminance histogram, and a histogram display with RGB and luminance histograms.
If you press the Zoom Out button while viewing a single image on the LCD screen, it"ll take you to a 4- and then a 9-image thumbnail display. You can also zoom in on an image, up to 10x at the highest resolution. The small navigator window in the lower right-hand corner shows you what part of the larger image you"re currently viewing. The multi-controller lets you navigate around the full image, and the zoom in / zoom out keys increase or decrease the magnification level. You can also rotate, protect, erase, copy, and print images in playback mode, as well as add voice memos.

If you want to turn off the EOS R eye sensor on this Canon digital mirrorless camera to stop the screen from turning off whenever you or another object comes close to the viewfinder, here’s what to do.
The electronic viewfinder on your Canon EOS R mirrorless camera will now be disabled and you can use the camera’s LCD screen for your video shoot without the screen turning off whenever you or another object get too close to the viewfinder proximity sensor.
If you look just below the viewfinder of the Canon EOS R mirrorless digital camera you will see a small dark shiny rectangle. It looks not unlike the window over infrared emitters on remote controls.
Having it built-in to the camera makes a lot of sense. Obviously, while you’re looking through the viewfinder you do not need the screen to be powered on.
By blanking the screen battery power is conserved. It will also prevent peripheral light from the screen distracting you when shooting at night or in low light level situations.
Of course, there are times when using the viewfinder makes sense, like shooting outdoors on a sunny day when the screen is difficult to see clearly. I tend to use the screen most of the time.
That’s especially true when using the touch screen to quickly change focus points. So, when using the screen to watch what’s being recorded the last thing you want is for the screen to go blank.
For instance, it can detect my hand, a mug, or a piece of clothing. When it senses something close by it switches the display from the screen to the viewfinder. So, I don’t need to bring the camera’s viewfinder to my eye for the sensor to detect me.
The electronic viewfinder on your Canon EOS R mirrorless camera will now be disabled and you can use the camera’s LCD screen for your video shoot without the screen turning off whenever you or another object get too close to the viewfinder proximity sensor.
But hang on. Sometimes being able to use the viewfinder during a video shoot is useful. It is great to have the ability to quickly switch between the screen and the viewfinder.
Perhaps the screen is difficult to see properly because of the sun. Alternatively, maybe you want to shoot at night without the screen lighting you up as a distraction behind the camera. With the Canon EOS R mirrorless digital camera, it’s not a problem.
You can easily toggle between the viewfinder and screen by customizing the button of your choice. It’s mentioned on page 558 of the Canon EOS R Advanced Users Guide.
So, you manually selected the screen as your display in the wrench menu but say you didn’t customize a button to toggle between the viewfinder and screen. But what if you happen to be in a situation where you’d like to switch to the viewfinder only.
If you want quick access to the electronic viewfinder here’s what to do. Simply flip the LCD screen over and snap it into the back of the camera body. The display will automatically switch to the viewfinder and the screen will turn off.
The electronic viewfinder on your Canon EOS R mirrorless camera will now be disabled and you can use the camera’s LCD screen for your video shoot without the screen turning off whenever you or another object get too close to the viewfinder proximity sensor.
The Canon EOS R is a full-frame 30.3-megapixel mirrorless digital camera, the first camera to feature Canon’s RF lens mount. It has been compared to the Canon 5D Mk IV and has the same Dual Pixel AF system. In photo mode, it can shoot at 8 fps, or 5fps with continuous autofocus.
EF and EF-S lenses can be used on the Canon EOS R mirrorless camera by using a Canon EF-EOS R mount adapter. Canon provides 4 different adapters, each offers distinctive features, but all are 24mm deep and allow you to use your existing EF and EF-S lenses on an EOS RF mount. They do not have any lens elements so there is no loss of image quality. The standard adapter only allows EF and EF-S lenses to be used on cameras with an RF mount with full functionality. The other three adapters. The next model is the Control Ring Adapter, which adds an extra control ring. The third adapter is a Drop-in Filter Mount Adapter within a drop-in circular polarizing filter. The fourth is a Drop-in Filter Adapter with a drop-in variable ND filter.
The Canon EOS-R is a weather-sealed camera. The buttons and dials are sealed, and rubber flaps protect the camera’s sockets and connectors. Some of the RF lenses, such as the RF 24-105mm f/4, have weather-sealing gaskets that provide a snug fit of the camera’s mounting ring. The weather sealing does not make the camera waterproof, and additional protection would be necessary for wet conditions.
The Canon EOS-R has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. It will connect with smartphones allowing remote control and the ability to auto-send images to the phone. It can auto send images to computers and web services, as well as print from wi-fi printers.
Tosh Lubek runs an audio and video production business in the UK and has been using the Canon EOS R since it was released in the Autumn of 2018. He has used the camera to shoot TV commercials for Sky TV, promotional business videos, videos of events and functions, and YouTube creator content. He has also won international awards for his advertising and promotional work. You can meet him by visiting his “video booth” at HashTag business events across the country.
