However, if the digitizer or LCD is also damaged during a fall, that screen no longer carries value because it cannot be refurbished. Repair shops cannot sell broken LCDs to refurbishing companies; therefore, they cannot offset the cost of an LCD repair. That is why repair stores often charge a little extra if there is damage to the LCD or digitizer, to make up for that loss. Repair stores that don’t have an additional charge for an LCD repair typically inflate their glass repair price to make up for the loss from damaged LCDs. If they have one price, that means everyone is paying more to cover the cost of customers who have damaged LCDs and customers who only have cracked glass. This is why TCR separates the price of glass and LCD repairs for you! If you only have cracked glass, you only have to worry about paying to replace the cracked glass.
If your phone or tablet’s glass is shattered there will be cracks or chips on the screen itself. If it is just the glass that is damaged, the device may still function and you may be able to use it normally. If this is the case, it is likely that only the glass needs to be replaced. To prevent further damage to your device it is best to get it repaired quickly. For example, if liquids seep through the cracks it could cause permanent damage to the LCD.
Many people may continue to use their touchscreen with shattered glass and delay fixing the glass on their devices; however, if the touchscreen isn’t responsive, it could be a sign of more significant damage to the device’s digitizer which is integrated with the LCD screen.
A pixelated screen can indicate LCD damage. This would look like a patch of multicolored dots, a line or lines of discoloration, or a screen with rainbow colors. For many people, these colors are an easy way to know that their LCD is broken and that they should get it repaired.
Dropping your phone isn’t the only reason you’ll end up with a pixelated screen. Over time, your screen’s LCD may break down through regular use. This happens to other devices aside from your smartphone or tablet. Pixelation can happen to TVs and computers, too. People typically decide to buy a new device when this happens. Fortunately, with an LCD repair, you can fix the device without needing to replace it.
A black screen or black spots on your smartphone or tablet is an indication of a damaged LCD. Often with a bad LCD, a phone may still turn on and make noises, but there is no clear picture. This does not necessarily mean any other part of the phone is damaged and a simple screen replacement will get it functioning again. Sometimes it can mean a battery or other internal component is damaged. It is best to have a highly qualified phone repair technician diagnose what is wrong so the appropriate repair can be made.
Fortunately, your mobile device is fixable whether you cracked the glass or damaged the LCD. Stop by or call TCR: Triangle Cellular Repair at (919) 263-2699 for a free diagnostic and quick, affordable cell phone repair in Chapel Hill and surrounding areas. We’re always happy to help!

Years ago, one of the least valuable portions of a cellphone was the LCD screen. Now LCD screens are becoming one of the MOST valuable parts of the entire smart phone… costing even more than the value of the main board!
In fact, at this point, the average LCD part (for a repair) costs so much to purchase, it doesn’t make sense for store owners like yourself to buy them keep them in stock because your customers aren’t likely to convert anyway. The life cycle of phones is just too short now. Consumers are too willing to just sign a new two-year contract to get a new phone for free, or they’ll just purchase a used smart phone off of eBay or Craigslist for cheaper than the cost of repairing their old one.
You see, because the cost of production on LCD screen parts is starting out so much higher now, it can only go one way down. In truth, LCD screen production costs are dropping every single day. That should be good news, for you, but unfortunatelyit’s extremely difficult to keep up to date on the exact fair market prices.
There are suppliers who take advantage of the market changes, knowing that business owners (like you) aren’t totally “in tune” with themost updated LCD parts costs. Usually you won’t even know you’re being ripped off until you notice that your competitors are offering lower prices.
This is a HUGE problem for business owners like yourself, and it is an area that we can absolutely help you in. Rather than paying the outrageous prices for these parts that the suppliers demand, we’ll provide you a smarter alternative to avoid these suppliers altogether and dispose of your old broken LCD screens for CASH.
If you’ve got LCD screens, then you’re sitting on CASH! All you need is a legitimate, honest recycling company to buy-back those parts from you – and you will walk away with a great margin!

The LCD underneath the digitizer is damaged, probably by someone dropping it or pressing down on the cracked screen...or moisture/dirt getting into the crack.
A replacement LCD and digitizer will probably cost around $40 just for the replacement parts. If you don"t know how to replace these yourself, you"re looking at around $30+ for labor, if you go to a locally owned repair shop, depending on where you live.
Depending on how much you paid, it may be cheaper to get a new tablet, unless you"re comfortable with changing out the LCD and glass yourself—which I do NOT recommend if you have no phone or tablet repair experience, as its fairly tricky and there"s a high chance of accidentally damaging something and wasting your money.

Whether you stepped on it, leaned on it, dropped it, closed it on your keys, or subjected it to extreme temperatures, one thing’s for sure: right now you can barely see anything on your laptop screen!
Some other issues people may have with their screens are vertical lines or bars; these may be white, a bright color, or solid black, as below, and commonly result from a failure of tiny electrical connections within the screen’s body.
In all these situations, the screen itself has been ruined – the glass cannot be repaired, and humans are incapable of fixing the tiny connections that have broken.
But all is not lost!Replacements for PC laptop LCDs are usually fairly inexpensive – around $150-200 in most cases. We can find the perfect matching part for your screen and install it in short order (our primary vendor is in Apex and can usually get screens to us the next day), and all will be as good as new!
We also can replace Apple MacBook displays! We source entire display assemblies from a vendor in Virginia which means you can get your Mac screen replaced in as little as 24 hours! Try getting service that fast anywhere else!

LCD bending is a term applied to the process of pressing a broken LCD display when the device is powered on. YouTube user Kaptein KUK has created LCD bending art, which you can see in the video above, and the results are quite beautiful.
We"ve all experienced an unfortunate cracked LCD screen, whether it"s from a wayward Wii remote or simply dropping a touchscreen phone. LCD bending is a way to turn this misfortune into an interesting piece of interactive art.

Use our “Get an Estimate” tool to review potential costs if you get service directly from Apple. The prices shown here are only for screen repair. If your iPhone needs other service, you’ll pay additional costs.
Your country or region offers AppleCare+ for this product. Screen repair (front) is eligible for coverage with a fee by using an incident of accidental damage from handling that comes with your AppleCare+ plan.
