If your Sony TV screen is damaged, your first impulse might be to purchase an entirely new TV set, and in many cases, you may need to. However, with a little effort, you may be able to restore your damaged TV to its former condition. You can find replacement parts for many brands, ranging from Sony TV screens to Samsung LCD displays. How do you deal with a damaged screen?
Before you select any replacement parts, take a look at your TV and survey the damage. There are many TV components that can cause screen malfunction. Many flat screen TVs have glass panels that cover the Plasma, LED, or LCD component. If this surface is cracked or damaged, repairing may require nothing more than a new glass panel. If the underlying Plasma, LED, or LCD screen is damaged, the repair may be more extensive.
If the damage is limited to the screen, you may need one or both of the following components:Bezel: The bezel is the thin panel that sits atop the Plasma, LED, or LCD screen.

The KDL-46Z5100 was capable of a deeper than average black level for an LCD HDTV. This achievement is offset, however, by a poor gamma curve, which we"ll discuss later. Essentially, the TV"s blacks don"t have a lot of differentiation to them. Therefore, while you"ll be enjoying a somewhat deep black, you won"t be enjoying much additional detail.
The TV also had a good brightness level, which isn"t anything unusual for an LCD display. The TV was capable of outputting 339.2 cd/m2, which is above average compared to other HDTVs we"ve reviewed (including plasmas, which bring the total down a bit). While the TV isn"t capable of bright whites that will necessarily wow you, it"s more than sufficient for combating glare.
The TV held up well on our tunnel contrast test, which is typical of LCD HDTVs. On this test we make sure the black level remains constant regardless of how much black is on the screen. Typically if the entire screen is dark, TVs will have an easier time displaying deeper blacks as opposed to when the screen is 10% black.
Like most LCDs, the KDL-46Z5100 had a poor viewing angle: at 71º, the contrast will dip below 50%. This means everyone on the couch will likely be fine, although we noticed significant differences in picture quality even slightly off-center. If you have a lot of people crowded around the TV, however, you might have more issues.

Bravia (stylized as BRAVIA) is a brand of Sony Visual Products Inc.,Sony Group Corporation, and used for its television products. Its backronym is "Best Resolution Audio Visual Integrated Architecture". All Sony high-definition flat-panel LCD televisions in North America have carried the logo for BRAVIA since 2005. BRAVIA replaces the "LCD WEGA" which Sony used for their LCD TVs until Summer 2005Kasuo Hirai"s plans to turn Sony around, BRAVIA was made into an subsidiary rather than just a brand of products.
The 46- and 55-inch models of the XBR8 series features an RGB LED backlight system which Sony calls Triluminos. The new backlight system is claimed to provide a truer and higher color spectrum and allows this series of televisions to rival plasma displays in terms of dark blacks. This model also marked the debut of Sony"s new video processor, the BRAVIA Engine 2 Pro. The display panel uses ten-bit processing and offers the 120 Hz MotionFlow technology.
For sale in Japan on July 30, 2008, Sony"s green product, a new flat-panel 32-inch TV for ¥150,000 (US$1,400; €900) BRAVIA KDL-32JE1 offers ecological consumers the advantage of 70% less energy consumption than regular models with same image quality. The LCD panels within BRAVIA TVs are manufactured by Sony Corporation with a special architecture. Since 2010, the high end Bravia LX, HX and selected NX series use a 10th gen Sony Bravia ASV panel.
