pressure on lcd screen pricelist
LCD TV panel prices continue to decline and more is on the way as we progress to the second quarter. Although the pace of price decreases is slowing as prices approach cash costs, there is no sign that prices will hit bottom and rebound. The potential for a negative impact on global TV demand from the Russian war in Ukraine combined with high inventory levels suggests continued price pressure in Q2.

According to TrendForce, LCD TV panel quotations bore the brunt of continuous downgrades in the purchase volume of TV brands and pricing for most panel sizes have fallen to record lows.
As Chinese panel makers account for nearly 66% of TV panel shipments, BOE, CSOT, and HKC are industry leaders. When there is an imbalance in supply and demand, a focus on strategic direction is prioritized. According to TrendForce, TV panel production capacity of the three aforementioned companies in 3Q22 is expected to decrease by 15.8% compared with their original planning, and 2% compared with 2Q22. Taiwanese manufacturers account for nearly 20% of TV panel shipments so, under pressure from falling prices, allocation of production capacity is subject to dynamic adjustment. On the other hand, Korean factories have gradually shifted their focus to high-end products such as OLED, QDOLED, and QLED, and are backed by their own brands. However, in the face of continuing price drops, they too must maintain operations amenable to flexible production capacity adjustments.
TrendForce indicates, in order to reflect real demand, Chinese panel makers have successively reduced production capacity. However, facing a situation in which terminal demand has not improved, it may be difficult to reverse the decline of panel pricing in June. However, as TV sizes below 55 inches (inclusive) have fallen below their cash cost in May (which is seen as the last line of defense for panel makers) and is even flirting with the cost of materials, coupled with production capacity reduction from panel makers, the price of TV panels has a chance to bottom out at the end of June and be flat in July. However, demand for large sizes above 65 inches (inclusive) originates primarily from Korean brands. Due to weak terminal demand, TV brands revising their shipment targets for this year downward, and purchase volume in 3Q22 being significantly cut down, it is difficult to see a bottom for large-size panel pricing. TrendForce expects that, optimistically, this price decline may begin to dissipate month by month starting in June but supply has yet to reach equilibrium, so the price of large sizes above 65 inches (inclusive) will continue to decline in 3Q22.
TrendForce states, as panel makers plan to reduce production significantly, the price of TV panels below 55 inches (inclusive) is expected to remain flat in 3Q22. However, panel manufacturers cutting production in the traditional peak season also means that a disappointing 2H22 peak season is a foregone conclusion and it will not be easy for panel prices to reverse. However, it cannot be ruled out, as operating pressure grows, the number and scale of manufacturers participating in production reduction will expand further and it timeframe extended, enacting more effective suppression on the supply side, so as to accumulate greater momentum for a rebound in TV panel quotations.

After months of price cuts, manufacturers of large-size liquid-crystal displays (LCDs) are under pressure to reduce panel prices further, following a major build-up of inventory. A recent report from US business analyst iSuppli revealed that the second quarter of 2010 saw the manufacture of 52 million large (ten inches and above) LCD television panel shipments, but the sale of only 38.7 million LCD television sets. The resulting imbalance between supply and demand is having a strong impact on the sector.
“This gap is higher than anything seen in 2009. Over-supply persisted in the first two months of the third quarter as buyers cut orders in July and August,” says iSuppli analyst Sweta Dash. “LCD television brands are expected to lower prices more aggressively to reduce their inventory levels, thus putting mounting pressure on panel suppliers to reduce prices further.”
Dash points out that manufacturers of monitor and notebook panels have been reducing supply to mitigate excessive inventory levels, and that panel prices are now stabilizing as a result. In contrast, high depreciation costs at relatively new LCD television panel fabrication plants mean suppliers have been less willing to reduce production.
However, Dash predicts that the potentially strong sales of LCD television sets in China could reduce inventory levels and help to steady panel prices by the end of the fourth quarter of 2010.
At the same time, rapidly rising sales of smart phones and tablet PCs are predicted to see the global market for small- and medium-size thin-film transistor (TFT) LCDs expanding at its fastest pace for three years. According to analyst Vinita Jakhanwal, also from iSuppli, global shipments of TFT LCD panels are set to rise by 28.1% in 2010, from 1.8 billion to 2.3 billion units.
“Sales of smart phones and tablets are booming thanks to the iPhone, iPad and other competing products,” explains Jakhanwal. “Smart phone manufacturers are now adopting TFT LCDs that use in-plane switching technology, which supports a wider viewing angle and better picture quality than a conventional LCD.” But the fast-paced market expansion probably won"t last, predicts Jakhanwal. “Growth in TFT LCD shipments will slow in 2011 and beyond as the expansion of smart phone and tablet markets cools to more normal levels.”
The adoption of touch-screen technology in the mobile phone industry is fuelling the demand for active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) displays, reports US market research firm DisplaySearch. AMOLED displays have been the only technology in the mobile phone display market to increase revenues every quarter this year, as both unit shipments and average prices have risen. “With an average worldwide market penetration of mobile phones at 70%, manufacturers are eager to introduce new features such as touch-screens to ensure continued growth this year,” says Calvin Hsieh, research director at DisplaySearch. “The success that AMOLED displays are finding in high-end smart phones reflects these trends.”
AMOLED technology rose in popularity after its integration into mobile phones manufactured by Samsung and HTC. In the first quarter of 2010, the average screen size for an AMOLED display exceeded three inches, which is larger than that of competing TFT LCDs. Taiwan-based display manufacturers AUO and Chimei Innolux are scheduled to start mass-producing AMOLED displays in 2011. Hsieh believes AMOLED technology will now see increased year-on-year growth, although TFT LCDs will still ship more units.
US-based quantum-dot and materials developer Nanosys has opened a new facility in Gyeonggi-do, Korea, to support its recent expansion into the Asian market. Led by former LG Electronics vice president Jong-Uk Bu, Nanosys Korea will develop "architected materials" for Asian electronics manufacturers, including high-performance LED backlights for displays and silicon composite anode materials for use in lithium–ion batteries. Earlier this year, Nanosys unveiled QuantumRail, quantum-dot-based LED backlighting units that improve LED backlit display colour gamut and efficiency. Nanosys says that its quantum dot LED technology makes it possible to deliver saturated red, green and blue colours that exceed the NTSC 1953 guidelines for displays. This latest announcement follows collaborations with Korea-based electronics manufacturers LG Innotek and Samsung Electronics to develop display products based on quantum-dot crystals.
Liquid crystal displays, the thin color screens seen on portable computers, are quickly falling in price--and they"re dragging notebook costs down with them.
few quarters. And the trend is likely to continue, said David Mentley, vice president of display technology at Stanford Resources, a San Jose-based consultancy.
In the end, this will lead to more affordable notebooks--including those that fall to $1,000 and below, since the screen accounts for one-third or more of a notebook"s cost.
Starting at the high end, notebooks with 14.1-inch active-matrix screens will come down about $1,000 from their lofty $5,000 level. In the mainstream of the market, a number of notebooks packing the popular 12.1-inch size will be well below $2,000, added Sweta Dash, another Stanford Resources researcher.
Only a few are now below that mark. Hewlett-Packard is already there, selling an OmniBook model with a 133-MHz Pentium processor and 12.1-inch active matrix screen for just under $1,600.
Only last year, 12.1-inch active-matrix displays were considered exotic and sold on machines in the $3,000-to-$5,000 range. Later this year, 12.1-inch displays could be on notebooks that are priced around $1,000, according to Mentley.
Active-matrix LCDs offer the highest quality image and ship on the majority of notebooks today, though the lower-quality passive-matrix, dual-scan LCDs are still popular.
At the same time, manufacturers will improve the technology so that screens will be brighter, consume less battery power, and have wider viewing angles. There is also a possibility that manufacturers will try to push for a 15-inch screen and a wider notebook form factor.
As with memory prices, the price declines come as a result of growing manufacturing capacity. The number of fabrication lines, or assembly lines, for LCD screens has increased to 38. By the end of the year, there will be 48 fabrication lines spread among the major manufacturers, an increase in capacity that will further fuel price drops.
The South Korean giant has increased production of glass substrates for 13.3-inch screens in its plant in Chunan, according to the online version of Nikkei Business Publications, an Asian news service. With the new capacity, the Chunan plant is producing 280,000 13.3-inch screens a month, which could increase the pressure to lower prices on these screens dramatically.
Prices took a major dive between the third quarter and fourth quarter of last year because of a glut in supply, Mentley said. The average selling price of 14.1-inch screens in volume dropped 24 percent, from $1,045 to $794. 14.1-inch screens now sell for an average of $746, with high and low price ranges at $650 and $950.
Screens sized 13.3 to 12.1 inches with pixel resolutions of 1,024 by 768, meanwhile, dropped 23 and 12 percent, respectively, from $887 and $800 to $678 and $703 between the third and fourth quarters.
In the second quarter of this year, 12.1-inch screens with 800-by-600-pixel resolutions will be selling for a mere $377 in volume while 10.4-inch screens will be selling for $305.
The decline has slowed a bit this year, but continues downward. By the second quarter of next year, 14.1-inch screens will sell in volume for $698, while 13.3- and high-resolution 12.1-inch screens will be at $591 and $622. Those at 13.3 inches could even drop to $450 by the third quarter. The lower price on the 13.3-inch screens results from supply imbalances.
Beyond the second quarter, things will get worse for manufacturers, and better for consumers. "For the end of the year, we see more panic," Mentley said.
Standalone LCD monitors are shrinking in price as well, he pointed out. A 15-inch LCD monitor in the third quarter last year cost an average of $1,500. It will sell for $972 by the second quarter this year. Like all the prices listed, the prices refer to the wholesale, volume prices that computer vendors pay.
Ironically, other segments of the portable screen market are not suffering the same price declines. 12- and 13-inch "passive-matrix" dual-scan screens, while mostly selling in the $200 to $400 range, remain relatively stable. "There is actually a shortage," he said.
While functional, passive-matrix screens do not match the eye-popping glamour of active-matrix machines. Every pixel in an active-matrix screen comes with its own transistor. Color and lighting are adjusted on a pixel basis. Tone for passive screens is adjusted as a whole. Therefore, active-matrix LCDs produce faster images with richer color.

Repercussions of Russian-Ukrainian War and Rising Inflation, E-sports LCD Monitor Shipments Estimated at Approximately 26.1 Million Units in 2022, Annual Growth Reduced to 14%, Say TrendForce
According to the latest TrendForce research, although factors such as panel and component mismatch and supply issues and the fading effects of the stay-at-home economy influenced shipments of e-sports LCD monitors (defined as refresh rates above 100Hz) in 2021, many brands targeted e-sports LCD monitors in 4Q21 with a strategy of aggressively reducing e-sports product pricing to prompt a volume surge and successfully boosted shipments of e-sports LCD monitors to 22.8 million units in 2021, with an annual growth rate of 24%. However, growth momentum will slow in 2022. In addition to long lead times, the most significant variable remains the impact of the Russian-Ukrainian war. If the war continues, it will impair European market demand and affect the shipment performance of e-sports-related products. In addition, the Russian-Ukrainian war has triggered a surge in the prices of crude oil, metal, and agricultural commodities, spiking previously growing inflationary pressure. Thus, TrendForce conservatively estimates shipments of e-sports LCD monitors at 26.1 million units in 2022, with an annual growth rate of 14%.
In terms of product types, the market share of flat-screen e-sport LCD monitors reached 59% in 2021, officially surpassing the 41% of curved monitors. Last year, when Samsung Display (SDC) faded out of the supply chain, it caused a shortage in the supply of curved panels, increasing the magnitude of price hikes. In addition, the supply of flat IPS e-sports products continued to increase, resulting in a decline in the competitiveness of the curved panel market. In 2022, the market share of flat and curved panels will remain unchanged but the supply of curved gaming panels from the two major suppliers, AUO and CSOT, will continue to grow with curved e-sports panel pricing the first to fall. The cost-effective advantage of whole curved e-sports devices has reemerged, which will bump the market share of curved e-sports LCD monitors to 43%.
In terms of e-sports product resolution, FHD (1920x1080), QHD (2560x1440), UHD (3840x2160), and Ultra-wide (2560x1080/3440x1440/5120x1440, etc.), in 2021, FHD captured the highest market share at 62.9% followed by QHD, Ultra-wide, and UHD. TrendForce believes, in addition to continuously improving e-sports product specifications, the simultaneous improvement of resolution will assist monitor brands in maintaining or improving profitability. Especially since, starting from 4Q21, the supply of 34-inch (21:9) wide-screen VA products increased significantly. This coupled with noticeable panel price reductions, expands profit margin and allows monitor brands more room to operate and is expected to drive wide-screen monitors to compete for a 13.4% market share in 2022.

The uncertainty of current global political and economic circumstances have upset demand for three major display applications including TVs, LCD monitors, and notebooks.
As the Russian-Ukrainian war directly affects the entire European market, the supply of raw materials has destabilized and prices continued to soar, exacerbating inflation and pummeling the global economy. In addition, lockdowns and work suspensions caused by the recent pandemic outbreak in China and the government’s insistence on a dynamic zero-COVID policy may lead to complex problems such as reductions in factory production efficiency and logistical delays. TrendForce expects the uncertainty of current global political and economic circumstances have upset demand for three major display applications including TVs, LCD monitors, and notebooks, overshadowing 1H22 with pressure to correct expectations.
In terms of the TV market, due to the deleterious effect of the Russian-Ukrainian war on inflation and assuming consumer budgets remain unchanged, expenditures on non-essential items will fall, deferred demand for TV products. In addition, due to issues in 2021 such as the shortage of cargo containers and port congestion, shipping costs spiked, indirectly inflating the production cost of TV sets.
Before the pandemic, shipping costs on a 65-inch TV was $9. Last year, this jumped to $50-$100, scaling with TV size. Even though current TV panel pricing has plunged by 30% to 40% compared to last year’s peak, the fact that freight costs are not expected to improve in 2022 will inevitably affect TV brand promotions and scale of stocking during the peak season of overseas markets in 2H22. Therefore, TrendForce revises downward its TV shipment forecast for 2022, from the original 217 million units to 215 million units, reducing annual growth rate to 2.4%.
In terms of the LCD monitor market, the scale of the 2022 market will be smaller than that in 2021 as the overall market is no longer supported by strong demand from last year’s stay-at-home economy. In addition, relatively stable past demand originating from the European market ran headlong into the Russian-Ukrainian war at the end of February. This, coupled with a subsequent butterfly effect that may lead to a downward revision in demand, as well as problems such as inflation and sustained high freight rates, make it difficult for brands to realize aggressive shipping goals.
In line with these, TrendForce preliminarily revises downward its LCD monitor shipment forecast for this year, from 144 million units to 142 million units, expanding annual negative growth rate to 2.3%, without ruling out a possibility of further downward revision.
In terms of the notebook computer market, TrendForce revises downward its original 238-million-unit shipment forecast to 225 million units, a decrease of 8.5% year-onyear (YoY). There are three primary factors to this downgrade. First, Chromebooks benefited from the pandemic driving demand for distance education in 2021, accounting for 15% of total notebook shipments. Chromebook shipments are forecast to decline by more than 50% in 2022 as a whole, disrupting total notebook shipments by approximately 7~10%.
Second, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has caused most notebook brands to suspend shipments to Russia. Russia accounted for approximately 2% of global notebook shipments in 2021 and a suspension will also curb the demand for notebook shipments. Third, every notebook brand has revised 2022 shipment forecasts downward by approximately 10-15% on average compared to the beginning of the year, indicating that inflation has clouded these brand’s future demand outlook. The inventory of the entire supply chain including certain in-transit ODM/OEM components, continues to climb while the prices of some components continue to face downward pressure, resulting in intertwined problems and forcing notebook brands to prudently control purchasing momentum, which may further impact the upstream supply chain.
3M Co. gave in to competitive pressures and said on Friday it would cut prices on its profitable films for LCD television screens. The news sent 3M shares down 5 percent.
The news and price drop came even as the maker of Scotch tape and Post-it Notes reported that third-quarter earnings climbed 7 percent on strong growth across all regions, and the company raised its profit outlook for the full year.
But the company said it would begin selling lower-priced films for coating LCD television screens to protect its dominant position for higher-priced films. Those films have been a key, profitable 3M product but have come under pressure as TV selling prices drop.
3M had resisted dropping prices on its LCD screen films, trying to maintain its identity as a high-end product. But low-cost TV makers such as U.S.-based Vizio Inc. have been grabbing market share fast. Vizio alone had 12 percent of the flat-panel market in the second quarter, more than four times its share a year before and larger than big names like Sony, Samsung, and Sharp, according to market researcher DisplaySearch.
“Long term we are genuinely very positive about this market,” he said on a conference call. “It doesn’t mean in the short run you won’t have some hand-to-hand combat. You always do.”
For the third quarter, net income grew to $960 million, or $1.32 per share, from $894 million, or $1.18 per share, in the third quarter of 2006. Excluding gains in both periods, the company earned $1.29 in the latest quarter, up from $1.17 a year ago.
Analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial expected a profit of $1.28 per share on higher revenue of $6.29 billion. Analysts typically do not include one-time charges when polled by Thomson.
3M raised its outlook for 2007 earnings for the second time, forecasting a profit of $5.54 to $5.62 per share, up from a prior estimate of $5.40 to $5.60.
Operating profit in 3M’s Display and Graphics division, which makes the LCD films, fell 1.7 percent to $288 million, even as sales grew 2 percent to $1 billion. 3M reported a slight increase in sales of LCD films for televisions and computers.
Profits in 3M’s Industrial and Transportation division, the company’s largest, rose 11.5 percent to $378 million. Sales rose 9.3 percent to $1.8 billion. In local currency, sales rose 5.4 percent, including 1.2 percent from acquisitions.
3M said growth in its electronics and communications business was dampened by a sluggish consumer market. Operating profits rose 16.4 percent to $140 million. Sales in that division grew 7.6 percent to $714 million, although that included a boost from foreign exchange.
A wide price range of Rs. 2000 - 8000. Why? Well, of course, there are various types of screens available with different price tags. And the problems with the screens are not always the same as well. Although, if your laptop is still protected under the warranty period, then it"s a different issue. You may not have to pay anything if the display is not broken accidentally.
In my case, what happened is that my Dell laptop screen started showing one or two lines on the screen. At first, I ignored them. But then, more lines started appearing and I wrote how much it cost to fix a laptop screen in India in the search engine bar. Astonishingly, I didn"t write the full question in the Google search bar as it came along on its own. I understood, what a "burning" issue it had become among laptop users.
Not only that, the Google search bar gets flooded with questions like "How can fix pressure marks on a laptop screen", " How can Fix Laptop Screen Cracked Internally", and "How much to get a laptop screen fixed?", "How much does to repair a laptop screen?", "How to fix a broken laptop screen?". Search Bing, and you"ll get similar queries like "How much to repair an LCD laptop screen?", "What happens when the laptop screen is cracked?", "How to fix pressure spots on LCD Screen", "How to fix a broken HP laptop screen?", "How much to replace a laptop screen?", “How Much Does an HP Laptop Screen Replacement Cost India
But the shattered screen of my old HP laptop was not in any condition to be fixed without a replacement. So, I was curious about laptop screen problems, and especially about HP Laptop Screen Replacement Prices in India. So I studied more.

Also, if the DC jack can"t be adjusted to the plug"s angle, you may see the laptop turning on but no booting starts. In that case, the jack is required to be replaced. Cracked laptop screen repair priceis the most important thing for customers. They want to know about the cost of cracked laptop screen repair. In this article, we have shared about cracked laptop screen repair prices. Laptop screens are made of glass, which may be broken or cracked due to any reasons like falling, hitting against a hard surface, dropping your laptop to the fl/or, etc. It is very important to get a cracked laptop screen repaired as soon as possible because otherwise it will cause major damage to your computer and you may even lose data or lose power due to dust particles that could enter your system through this crack in your laptop screen.
You can check the AC adapter or DC jack from outside. If these are not the cases, it could be the motherboard or other hardware stuff. It is always the best way to check if it"s the display troubling you, or something else. And your question may change from how much it costs to fix a laptop screen to Laptop Repair Cost in India. We can always test it as suggested in the Dell support video I mentioned before. It"s called LCD BIST (Built-In Screen Test). If you have an HDMI or a VGA port to connect with an external monitor, then try to connect some other display with your PC. Even if you don"t have an extra computer monitor, a smart TV can do the same. If the problem does not seem to follow in the other screen, then it"s your laptop screen problem, which may require replacement. If the problem is the same there too, it can be a hardware issue. In that case, you need to consult an expert in case you don"t have any clue anymore. Although it"s the last step after you are done trying all the troubleshooting mechanisms I described herein each step. Sometimes you may notice that after turning your laptop on, you can hear some noise that wasn’t there before. It may have been caused because the motherboard connection with the screen through the display cable got loose. Then it"s nothing serious and the laptop repair cost, in this case, may be the least. For a laptop motherboard repair, or hard disk repair or replacement, you may have to spend a fortune of Rs. 2000 - 6500 or Rs. 500 - 4500 respectively, depending on your problem. Again, if you have got an SSD in your device, try removing and then plugging it into another computer to check if it"s working properly or not. If this is the one giving you a hard time, your question will surely change from "how much does it cost to fix a laptop screen" to "how much does it cost to fix an SSD", and we have got it all covered in NSS Laptop Service Center. To answer you in short, you may have to shell out Rs. 500 - 8500 based on your requirement of a mild repair to a replacement or upgrade of the SSD.
If you don"t have any external monitor available, you may also contact the manufacturer"s website to let you check for the same, as it is offered by Dell here.
I have seen a situation once. When my friend"s laptop was turning on, the power button lit up, and we could hear the fan running and the HDD starting, yet the screen remained black. If you are facing the same and considering it as a display mishap, then think again. As I happened to learn, it is also not a screen setback always. In 90% of the cases, it could be the motherboard or the system RAM. You can also experience the machine restarting continuously if these internal organs malfunction. If the reason behind this issue of the laptop screen remaining black when turned on is a dirty memory module or a broken one, it can be easily dealt with with the DIY discussed here. And then your search for how much it costs to fix a laptop screen in India dissolves on its own.
For RAM replacement, it is crucial to get the same model. Check your laptop’s manufacturer"s website using model no. Or, you should better take some advice if you are not confident enough to get the exact memory stick. RAM upgrade may cost you Rs. 2000 - 4000 depending on the RAM power you need. Unfortunately, if no above combination can get your device run back again, then it’s not a RAM problem at all. Stay with us to do some more troubleshooting. And if nothing works in your case, we will decide then how much it costs to fix a laptop screen in India for your special display.
The cost to replace a laptop screen is dependent on the type of screen and how many pixels are in it. A standard 15-inch laptop will have a 17-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, which is four times more pixels than a standard computer monitor. The average cost to replace a laptop screen is 6000, but this can vary depending on the model you have and the quality of the replacement screen. You can also add 5000 if you want to upgrade your RAM or hard drive size and faster processor speed.
The price of a laptop screen replacement depends on several factors such as the make and model of the laptop, the size of the screen, the brand name of the laptop, and the location where you are getting it replaced. The price also varies according to whether you are getting it done by yourself or getting it done professionally. If you choose to get it done by yourself, then you will have to spend money on the tools and equipment required for the job. But if you choose to get it done professionally, then there are no additional expenses apart from labor charges which may vary depending on where you live and what kind of repair shop or service center you visit for the job.
If you are looking for the best laptop screen replacement services, you have to make sure that you have done your research properly. This is because there are a lot of companies out there promising to offer the best quality laptops at cheap rates, but they don’t deliver. There are many things that you need to consider when looking for a good laptop repair shop. One of them is to make sure that you get an estimate on how much it will cost for your laptop screen replacement before you start working with them. The reason behind this is that some companies tend to charge high prices and others that charge low prices but do poor work.
LCD (liquid crystal display) screens are standard on most laptops, while OLED (organic light-emitting diode) screens are becoming more popular as they become more affordable. LCD screens use backlighting to provide a picture. They"re cheaper than OLED screens and have been around longer, but they require more power and don"t offer as good contrast or color reproduction as OLED screens do. The biggest advantage of LCD screens is that they"re easier to repair if something goes wrong with them, making them a better choice for DIYers or those who want to save money by doing their repairs. The laptop screen is the most important part of your computer. It is the window to your world and the gateway to all kinds of entertainment, whether it is movies or games. Many times, people use their laptops as their primary computer and they do not want to experience any problems with them.
