This is a Digital Panel Meter which is intended to operate from a 9 Volt DC supply. The power drain is quite low - About 0.25 mA in the unit I measured (With an alkaline 9 Volt battery it should last up to 2000 hours). As it comes, it is set up for +/- 0-200 mV (0.2 Volt). The calibration is fairly accurate, it matched my Fluke bench DVM. This version has a trim pot on the back to calibrate the display - That comes in handy.

You can change the range of the Panel Meter as indicated in the table that comes with the meter. Please note - unless you are good at soldering on printed circuit boards I recommend you add the divider resistors outside the meter on a terminal strip.

Although the meter configuration table calls out some hard to find resistor values for Ra and Rb you can use more common values and slightly recalibrate the meter with the trim pot on the back to match a reference DVM looking at the same test Voltage to correct for the divider error. For example you could use 10 Meg and 100K for Rb and Ra respectively for a 0-20 Volt Range (the divider error is 0.9% and can be easily adjusted out). For 0-200 Volt Range you could use 10 Meg and 10K for Rb and Ra respectively (the divider error is 0.09% and can be easily adjusted out). Be sure to use at least 1% tolerance resistors for good stability; and you must use a resistor rated for the maximum Voltage for Rb. Above the 200 Volt range I strongly recommend using an external divider.
