SINGAPORE, 16 October 2020 – Eurokars Group has officially unveiled the new crossover, Mazda CX-8, a new generation of product lineup of SUVs by Mazda. Debunking the myth that “A three-row vehicle must be a minivan”, the Mazda CX-8 belongs to a sophisticated genre of the SUV segment. The objectives of this powertrain expansion lineup are to complement the customers’ diversified and multi-faceted lifestyles while enhancing safety performance and interior quality and comfort for all vehicle occupants.
Designed to look both timeless and edgy, with an elegant and premium feel, the Mazda CX-8 is made with a focus on proportions, form and fine details to engender a strong, matured and dignified road presence. The CX-8 is Mazda’s first new-generation model in Japan to feature a more mature interpretation of Mazda’s Signature KODO – Soul of Motion design language that explores the essence of Japanese aesthetics while elevating car design to the level of fine art.
The development of this model is also in line with the spirit of Mazda Motor Corporation’s “Sustainable Zoom-Zoom 2030” long-term vision which delineates how Mazda will use driving pleasure to help solve issues facing people, the earth and society.
The Mazda CX-8 aims to satisfy customers’ diverse needs ranging from requiring more space or increased seating capacity to higher quality and greater comfort on the road, and at the same time, thrill and delight them with the exciting and dynamic performance that is intrinsic in all Mazda cars.
Packed with this gamut of exceptional attributes, it is little wonder that in 2018, the Mazda CX-8 was named the Japan Automobile Hall of Fame’s Car of the Year for its outstanding performance and space-efficient interior as well as its advanced technologies aimed at preventing accidents and reducing driver fatigue.
The Mazda CX-8 is well-equipped with a host of high-tech features and components to aid and support the driver, and improve the vehicle’s overall performance. The Mazda CX-8 is powered by Mazda’s trademark SKYACTIV-G 2.5 litre gasoline engine which offers drivers nimble handling, excellent fuel economy and agile driving performance. The high 13:1 compression ratio; lower weight of the aluminum-alloy cylinder block and a redesigned balance shaft reduce low frequency booming noise, which in turn propels the engine to achieve its high levels of dynamic performance and cabin quietness.
Now, coupled with its exquisite and stylish design, the Mazda CX-8 also offers a three-row seating option which caters to the needs of families or people who enjoy the freedom and flexibility of increased space without having to compromise fuel efficiency, space, safety and driving performance.
For greater versatility, customers can choose between a six-seater model variant or seven-seater model variant to meet their need for space. Comfort is assured as the Mazda CX-8 boasts a cabin environment that provides the occupants in all three rows with sufficient legroom for a smooth ride. The cabin design is aimed at fully utilising the available space and creates an environment that allows each occupant to sit comfortably by adopting a natural posture.
Mazda has also made strides when it comes to soundproofing in the Mazda CX-8 by creating an even quieter cabin environment that allows the occupants to engage in conversations with relative ease. The quietness in the third row of the Mazda CX-8 is achieved by applying the adhesive which bonds the glass to the liftgate in a different position that suppresses the sound resonance. The area and the number of layers of coating-type vibration-control material under the luggage-room floor were increased as well.
The handling stability and ride comfort of the Mazda CX-8 are superlative due to refinements made to the suspension and steering system to achieve more linear vehicle behaviour. Moreover, the G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC Plus) — an advanced version of G-Vectoring Control (GVC) — enables direct yaw moment control for more stable vehicle behaviour at high speed.
The Mazda CX-8 delivers the latest and state-of-the-art connectivity and infotainment to everyone on board. Mazda’s advanced Mazda Connect system allows the driver to safely access a compatible smartphone’s contact list and music through Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connection.
The exceptional audio sound system is integrated seamlessly throughout the cabin – providing clear tunes from the front row to the third. The seven-inch TFT LCD display mounted in the center of the meter cluster can show a variety of information directly in the driver’s line of sight which reduces the amount of eye movement required, and improves readability and usability. The rotary switches and dials were designed to convey a more refined look to the commander control.
The Mazda CX-8 is fitted with Mazda’s cutting-edge i-ACTIVSENSE safety technology features which are designed to recognise and avert potential hazards, and pivot the driver’s and passengers’ safety at the heart of all of Mazda’s safety innovations.
The full suite includes Adaptive LED Headlights (ALH); Lane-Keep Assist System (LAS); Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS); Advanced Smart City Brake Support (Advanced SCBS) with day and night pedestrian detection and Driver Attention Alert (DAA). The Mazda CX-8 is also equipped with a 360° camera and display system with eight parking sensors at the front and rear that detect proximity to obstacles and trigger an alarm when necessary.
The All-New Mazda CX-8 will be retailing from S$153,888 for the 7-Seater (Elegance) and S$157,888 for both the 6-Seater and 7-Seater (Luxury).
