BMW 3 series (E36), 5 series (E34, E39), 7 series (E38), 8 series (E31), X5 from 1988-2003 all have the common dead / fading / disappearing pixels on the dashboard instrument cluster / speedometer (also on the board computer) - on the large LCD display that shows valuable data such as the mileage and the on board computer messages. The LCD display pixel problem lies with the OBC ribbon cable that connects the LCD display to the circuit board of the instrument cluster. The pictures below show the speedo / instrument cluster"s LCD display before and after the silver ribbon cable KIT replacement (just an example of several board computer / dashboard instrument cluster types):

The instrument cluster units in the BMW E38, E39 and X5 models from 1994-2003 are quite similar - (they were all produced by Siemens VDO) - using the same LCD and the same ribbon cable at all models. There are minor differences, like diesel or petrol powered ones, and also some speedos come with miles others with km/hrs, however the OBC LCD display and the ribbon cable is the same at all 5 series (E39) 7 series (E38) and X5 (E53) and M5 models.

Give a much newer look to your BMW with the facelift chrome rings. These chrome rings fit to BMW 5 series (E39), 7 series (E38), and X5 (E53) from 1994-2003. Easy to apply ring set, no special tools needed.

The OBC unit on the MID console - also known as radio / telephone unit on BMW E39, X5, M5 models from 1996-2003 are identical, using the same OBC LCD and the same ribbon cable. There are minor differences, like one comes with telephone button, others are witout, however the LCD display and the ribbon cable is the same at all 5 series (E39) X5 (E53) and M5 models.

Fits all E39 / E53 MID units assembled with bulbs (not leds). If you have uneven background light on the MID unit (some parts of the LCD are lighter, some are darker), most probably you have dead or almost dead bulbs.

The OBC unit on the MID console - also known as radio / telephone unit on BMW E38 from 1994-2003 have the very common fading or missing pixels, lines, columns.

Fits all BMW E38 7 series A/C (air conditioning) climate control units assembled with 2 small LCD"s - just like the one on the picture. Essential for dead or fading pixel repairs.

BMW 8 series (E31), from1988-1999 all have the common disappearing/fading pixels on the on board computer LCD. The problem lies with the ribbon cable that connects the LCD display to the circuit board of the MID.

BMW 3 series (E36), from1988-1999 all have the common disappearing / fading or completely dead LCD pixels on the board computer display. The problem lies with the ribbon cable that connects the LCD display to the circuit board of the MID. All 3 variants (8 / 11 / 16 buttons) are available.

This is a very common failure at BMW E90, E91, E92 BMW CD73 stereo / radio / head units, that the central display has missing lines and columns, missing and fading pixels all around the LCD display. Most common at BMW 3 series E90, but E91 E92 and other models are also affected.

This is a very common failure at BMW E90, E91, E92 BMW CD73 stereo / radio / head units, that the central display has missing lines and columns, missing and fading pixels all around the LCD display.

This is a very common failure at BMW Bavaria radio units, that the display has missing lines and columns, missing and fading pixels all around the LCD display.

Why do the BMW speedometer LCD displays fail with pixel failure? DIY Pixel repair helps with pixel failure? Well the BMW speedo manufacturers have a few minurtes only to produce a complete BMW speedo with LCD dispay and silver. Because of this, VDO Instrument Cluster manufacturer decied to assemble the BMW LCD display and the silver ribbon cable with heat bonding procedure. This BMW speedometer assembly design makes the contacts of the LCD display and the ribbon cable loose contact very fast, most cases in just a few years. This means, the BMW LCD display show pixel failures, it needs pixel repair, but both the silver ribbon cable and the BMW LCD display work well - only the connection of them is bad, tha is why you have LCD display pixel problems, and you need a pixel fix by a professional, or done DIY with an LCD display pixel repair KIT - a silver cable. How can we improve the quality of the LCD displays and the ribbon cables? Well if you assemble the LCD with the ribbon cable with pressure, no heat bonding, then the pixels of the BMW LCD display will work for an unlimited time. Dashboard LCD displays work on high temperature, so it is the best to avoid using the heat bonding procedure. Pixel repair DIY, or pixel fix by a professional?

The LCD display repair ribbon cable KIT is available in silver cable version. Once the BMW dashboard instrument cluster LCD display pixel failure was properly repaired, the BMW speedometer display will work as new, the silver ribbon cable and the LCD will work for good in the speedometer.

- If the bulbs are out behind the display, then all the rows and colunms do work on the BMW speedometer LCD display, but the background light of the LCD display is uneven, or some cases the BMW LCD display is completely dark. This case no need to repair the pixels, you do not need a silver or carbon ribbon cable, nor a new LCD display. This case you just need to buy the lightbulbs that provide light behind the BMW LCD display.

- If the BMW speedometer LCD display has really pixel problems, then typically lines or colunms of the display are missing. Several cases the characters are broken, numbers and letters shown on the speedometer display are unreadable - tha backlight is even. In case of a real pixel problem, when one or more pixels are missing from the display, you need to buy a silver ribbon cable, a carbon ribbon cable, or some cases a complete BMW LCD display. It really depends on that if it is a BMW, a Mercedes, and Audi, Saab or other make, and of course if it a MID display, a speedometer, a board computer or other LCD dipslay. Most cases, when you have a pixel failure, and you decide to repair it, it"s really worth to buy a set of bulbs too, as bulbs tend to go out during repair - this is due to the massive mechanical shocks experienced during the pixel repair procedure.

Well, most of the BMW pixel repair KITs we sell are designed to be simple and easy to use. The word easy should now be the subject of further discussion. An average BMW speedometer LCD display pixel repair is far more difficult then replacing a lightbulb. You definitely have to have good mechnical skills, and some household tools, such as nippers, screewdrivers, household tape, and other goodies to fix things around the house.

If you have to ask one of these questions, then you definitly should NOT do a BMW speedometer LCD display pixel repair at home (we were asked these questions before, this is not a joke):

Well, Pixelfix is an internationally registered trademark. Pixelfix only sells the highest quality BMW speedometer silver ribbon cables, that are capable of lifetime operation. We sell most of our repairs with lifetime warranty, and you will find the exact same displays, cables, and other spare parts that we use for professional repairs. The silver ribbon cables we use for BMW E38 E39 M5 X5 LCD display pixel repair are real silver, which is a very expensive base material, that is why the price is much higher compared to carbon ribbon cables.

You may keep an eye on your package, if you ordered the BMW LCD dispaly with postal delivery on you may check the status on your local post office"s website, or if you ordered next day deliver then you need to see TNT / FedEx or DHL tracking site for status.

All BMW LCD displays, ribbon cables, BMW speedometer spare parts bought in the webshop will come with an invoice. All invoices are issued electronically, so you will receive an e-mail with the printable invoice in it. This invoce can be printed and filed to the accounts.

No worries, we do provide technical support, and help repairing of your BMW speedometer LCD display. No worries, this symptom can be due to a bagatel problem which is easy to fix. If there are no pixels on the BMW instrument cluster"s display at all, that MUST be due to one of the followings:

Let"s talk about the worst case scenario, you started the repair, but you do not seem to deal with the repair of the BMW instrument cluster"s display. This case we have a backup solution. We always stand behind our customers, so you may send the BMW speedometer LCD display unit to us for repair, and no matter what the condition of the unit is, we can help. More precisely, up to this point we always succeeded, meaning none of our customers managed to do such a damage in the unit that we could not fix. The repair does not cost a fortune, in a lucky case it is 20-30 Euro plus return delivery cost only.

Hey folks, got an annoying problem with my instrument cluster KOMBI unit. My bottom lcd is screwed up badly, and it came that way when I got it. I just barely read my mileage and the temp info but it is super blurry throughout the center of it. I"ve been searching for any related threads but there seems to be few out there with this same issue.

So a few questions. Does anyone know if it"s possible to swap one of these displays from a cluster bought off eBay? And if so does it need to be coded? I assume since it"s just a screen I would assume it"s plug and play.

Over the last decade or so, more and more of our interaction with our cars has been through a screen on the dashboard. The BMW screen -- the focal point of the iDrive navigation system -- lets you see vehicle information, navigation directions, messages and more. As time has gone on, the list of things you"ll find on the iDrive menu has increased, meaning more time spent staring at the dashboard display.

With the BMW iDrive screen being so important to your in-car experience, it"s worth getting to know a little more about it. So what types of BMW vivid screens are there? How do you protect and maintain it? And what aftermarket or OEM BMW screen upgrades and navigation screen replacements are available if you need it?

Like the screens on our phones, computers and TVs, BMW improves the screen technology in its central information display with each generation of vehicles. Compared to the screens in older models, today"s are larger and sharper, and often feature advanced features, like touchscreen control.

These screen improvements were quick to find their way to BMW"s premium models, but enthusiasts of the more mainstream vehicles often had a long wait to enjoy the latest and greatest features.

The screens in most modern BMWs stand upright from the top of the dashboard, but BMW has used a few different designs through the years. In many older vehicles, like the E65 7 Series or E60 5 Series, the screen was embedded in the dashboard itself. A small number of vehicles, like the E87 1 Series, even offered a flip up screen that could fold down into the top of the dash.

The most obvious change to BMW"s screens has been the size. The earliest iDrive screens were 6.5" -- roughly the same size as the largest iPhones or Samsung Notes. Making do with a screen the size of a phone had obvious consequences; cramped menus, poky navigation maps and a generally underwhelming experience were hallmarks of the early iDrive experience.

To remedy this, an improved BMW panoramic screen was available with higher-end navigation options. A size bump to 8.8" meant a lot more screen real estate. As these screens also took on a wide-screen aspect ratio, the space could be used more effectively. For example, iDrive split screen options allow using navigation and music side-by-side, for extra convenience.

More recently, BMW went on to introduce a larger 10.25" wide-screen display. Though initially reserved only for premium models, in the current generation it can be found in vehicles throughout BMW"s catalog. With more screen space than earlier versions, the 10.25" display is popular with people who make heavy use of their iDrive system, including CarPlay, video playback and other features.

The premium place previously occupied by the 10.25" has now been taken up by an even larger 12.3" screen, found in some of the latest vehicles like the G05 X5.

BMW has also added touchscreen control to its information displays in recent years. Like larger screens, these were first found in high-end models, but have since spread to more mainstream vehicles. Most of the latest generation have touchscreen control either as standard, or as an optional extra.

Our NBT Evo ID5/ID6 retrofit comes with a 8.8” or 10.25” BMW touch screen as an optional add-on for those vehicles that were equipped with an OEM touch screen from the factory. The 8.8” touch screen option may be available for F2x and F3x BMWs, while a 10.25” touch screen is on offer for F15, F16, G30 or G31 vehicles. Still, it’s always important to check your vehicle compatibility beforehand. Decode your VINhereand see if BMW touch screen could be an option for your car.

The latest BMW screen feature, gesture control, allows drivers to control select iDrive functions with the use of hand gestures captured by a 3D camera. If you’d like to activate it in your car, remember that only G-Series models are equipped with this function. Gesture control premiered in 2015 with the coming of the G11/G12 7 Series BMW, which included an NBT Evo ID6 iDrive, and nowadays can be found in almost every BMW with the newest MGU head unit.

Which screen you"ll have in your vehicle depends not only on what year it"s from, but also which model it is and what navigation option you have. Unsurprisingly, luxury models with premium navigation options are going to have bigger screens, and they"ll get extra features quicker.

In the 3 Series F30, for example, all vehicles with the basic Business navigation had the smaller 6.5" screen, while vehicles with Professional navigation system had the larger 8.8" screen. The only major change through the model run was the addition of touch screen control for the larger screen starting from the 2018 model year.

By 2018, the 7 Series had already had a touchscreen for two years, along with a larger 10.25" display. A 10.25" non-touchscreen display was also available in the F10 5 Series throughout production, starting in 2010. It would take the launch of the G20 3 Series in 2019 for fans of BMW"s more compact model to get the option of a similarly sized screen in their own cars.

If you’re preparing for an iDrive screen replacement you have several choices - either change it along with a full head unit replacement or get a standalone screen upgrade such as VividScreen or Panoramic Screen. See which option will suit you best.

No iDrive upgrade brings so much technology and convenience as this one.NBT Evo ID5/ID6 retrofit comes with loads of multimedia features already activated, like CarPlay,Video & Services in motion,BMW Apps, etc., and most importantly features a high-definition screen.

However, when retrofitting your BMW with a new iDrive system, it"s worth remembering that the screens available to you depend on your model, not the iDrive system you"re upgrading to. BimmerTech"sNBT Evo ID5/ID6 retrofit kitscome with 8.8" and 10.25" screens, either with or without touchscreen capability. Checking the screen(s) available for your vehicle is easy:

The fact that one iDrive system can potentially include a variety of different screen sizes sometimes means it"s possible to upgrade your screen size -- for example from 6.5" to 8.8" -- without changing any other hardware. OurPanoramic Screen retrofit for BMW F30et you step up your screen size without having to replace your whole iDrive system.

Up for a standalone BMW iDrive screen replacement? If you want to change your factory screen for one with twice or more the resolution, BimmerTech’sVividScreenandPanoramic Screen upgradeare the retrofits you can’t overlook. Both of those displays are, all in all, quite similar to each other, yet each of them comes with different kit components that fit separate technology upgrades.

The latest 8.8” 1280x480 BMW screen replacement provides noticeably better image quality compared to the factory screen, as it doubles or even triples its pixel density. Plus, it significantlyenhances the quality of the image and contrast while viewing. VividScreen is also designed to resemble the factory screen to perfectly match your BMW interior, so you shouldn’t worry about fitting it in the car. But what’s especially convenient about this BMW navigation screen replacement, is the fact that it comes with an inbuiltMultimedia Interface (MMI) module, which supports ourSmartView mirroring devicesand ourRear & Front View cameras. This means, if you’re compatible, you can get them all for a much lower price.

However, if you want to retrofit CarPlay in your BMW, VividScreen is NOT an option for you. The only screen matching ourCarPlay upgradeis a BMW Panoramic Screen upgrade.

OurPanoramic Screen upgrade, just like the VividScreen, packs a sharp 1280x480 display, OEM quality and spot-on integration with your BMW"s interior. It also comes in two screen sizes:

Although this BMW iDrive screen replacement doesn’t have it’s own MMI module, it will be a perfect fit for our CarPlay MMI Prime, if you want to add one. Pairing up the CarPlay retrofit with Panoramic Screen will enable you to use Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in full-screen, with a lot more space for your icons, messages and maps.

BMW Panoramic Screen installation will require some coding to optimize your iDrive for the bigger display, so right after you add it to your head unit remember to schedule a remote coding session with our BimmerTech technician. The session is included in the price of the retrofit.

If your iDrive screen is flickering or frozen, and no iDrive screen fixes are working, it could be necessary to replace it. If you do decide to, either because your iDrive screen is not working or you just want to change to a larger version, it"s one of the easier DIY projects you can do.

As the internal trim in each model differs, how to change your iDrive screen will depend on your vehicle. However, in general you will only need to remove the air vents below the display to allow access to the screws connecting the screen to the dashboard. With that done, the screen is attached with a simple wiring harness, which can easily be unplugged. Connecting the replacement is just as easy, and requires no soldering or wire cutting. The entire process can be completed in up to an hour.

When replacing your iDrive screen with a larger one, it"s important to remember the difference between the aspect ratio of the smaller 6.5" screen and the 8.8" or 10.25" wide-screen display. Without adjusting your iDrive, the picture on the screen will be stretched to fill the wider screen.

Depending on your vehicle and factory system, it may be possible to code your iDrive to correct the screen resolution and remove stretching. When possible, BimmerTech offers this service with all screen upgrades.

One advantage of having one of the bigger BMW iDrive screens is the possibility to use split-screen mode, to show two different things on the screen at once. For example, you might want your navigation directions on one side, with the current radio station on the other.

One time you might not want to split your screen is when using Apple CarPlay. In vehicles that support it, BMW uses a split-screen CarPlay interface by default, keeping a section on the right of the screen back for the iDrive system.

In many vehicles it"s possible to unlock full-screen Apple CarPlay by coding your iDrive, which can be done via USB or in a coding session with a skilled technician. To find out how to code BMW CarPlay full-screen mode and whether it"s available for your vehicle, take a look at ourBMW iDrive coding options.

Coding is a great way to unlock other screen features, too. Activating the USB Video Player option makes it easy to watch videos on your iDrive screen, and with the Video in Motion option, your passengers will even be able to watch as you drive. For business rather than pleasure, you can also switch to showing full text messages on the dashboard display, or your choice from dozens more iDrive options.Learn more about BMW iDrive coding, and how it can help you put the growing screens in the latest vehicles to good use.

In some BMWs, you can even get videos, messages, navigation and more straight from your Android mobile phone. The Android Screen Mirroring feature lets you cast your phone"s display to your iDrive, and get your favorite apps on your BMW dashboard screen. In many of the latest vehicles, it"s available as a coding option from BimmerTech, and is just one way toconnect your mobile phone and iDrive system.

If coding an Android Screen Mirroring feature is not for you, there are some other ways you can add an iDrive screen mirroring functionality to your vehicle. Our screen mirroring retrofits will make it possible to have your phone content mirrored onto your head unit display, but also play videos from the most popular VOD platforms on your iDrive screen.

If you’re a loyal Apple owner and don’t plan on changing your iPhone for an Android supported system any time soon, you may find ourSmartView HD Apple TV3orSmartView HD Apple TV4a spot-on screen mirroring solution. These retrofits are also the only ones to enable video streaming from the most popular VOD platforms, such as Netflix, HBO, Hulu or Amazon Prime, and fit perfectly with our BMW VividScreen upgrade.

Current-generation iDrive screens are exposed, with a special coating to prevent damage and ensure good visibility in all light conditions. However, that does mean it"s important to take good care of the screen, to prevent scratches and other damage.

Even routine maintenance can cause problems if you don"t know how to clean the BMW iDrive screen properly. Repeated rubbing with a rough cloth or harsh chemicals can wear away the anti-glare coating or cause scratches. It"s important to always use a soft microfiber cloth when wiping your iDrive screen, along with distilled water or high-quality, dedicated screen cleaning solution.

Whether you"re looking to replace your iDrive screen, upgrade your hardware, or just make a few changes to help you make the most of your dashboard display, our expert team is on hand to help you find the right upgrades and retrofits for you.Get in touchand we"ll be happy to help.

I have a 2006 BMW 525i. I"m replacing the radio with an after market radio. How do I hook my I drive system up once I unhooked it from the stereo. I need to see the rest of the car functions.

Mine is a 2007 530xi. I drive screen comes on and off and displays the BMW logo. No radio, navigation no display. Sometimes during a drive it comes alive with radio , navigation and all the other functions and lasts for the duration of the trip and engine turn off. At the next engine start it is off again!

My 2007 BMW 530xi display screen is very faded, hard to read and colors nearly nonexistent. I bought the car 6 months ago. Will the quality of the display deteriorate over time?

My car does not have the navigation feature. I assume I will need replace the screen? What is the part number for the non navigation idisplay for my car? I see many replacement displays but not sure what I need.

Yes, the screens wear over time. Tike for a new display. With your vehicle info handy, give The Pelican Parts parts specialists a call at 1-888-280-7799. They can figure out what part or repair kit you need.

Hi, I have a 08 bmw 528i it only has the one eject I guess for the cd player. I see the display flicker but doesn"t show anything. The radio plays but cannot change the station. It will accept a cd but the cd will not play. None of the functions works on the steering wheel except the volume. I"ve tried pressing the eject and power button. Still nothing I do not have a separate player for the navigation. Any suggestions?

Nick, thanks for your reply, but how would replacing screen impact the radio not working too? both nav system and radio was going on/off/on about 4 times a minute..when the ccc was replaced it would stay on after first start and then on all others of the day go back to old cycle of on/off/on/off...now sadly it does not starts the cycle even after first start..does it when ignition is on accessory on

Hi, i have a bmw 530i 2005 model, and i want to upgrade my screen to a display that has navigation, the reverse camera, bluetooth, etc. is it safe to change the idrive display? or is it better to leave it in? i just want to know if installing a new display is safe or not because people have told me it is not a good idea to tamper with the idrive but i also see a lot of people changing their display screens so could you guys at pelican staff maybe help me out?

Hi, 2004 e60 display stuck on BMW logo at start. Radio doesn"t fuction as well. What could be the problem? Is there any way to fix instead of replacing CCC?

With your vehicle info handy, give The Pelican Parts parts specialists a call at 1-888-280-7799. They can figure out what part or repair kit you need.

2007 BMW E60 LOST MY NAVIGATION CCC COMMON ISSUE PURCHASED A USED UNIT EVERTHING COMES ON EXCEPT FOR A FEW FUCTIONS I DID EXPECT THIS DO I NEED TO CODE THIS UNIT WITH MY CAR? I DONT KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THIS MEANS I DO HAVE BMW INPA SOFTWARE THAT I HAVE USED OVER THE YEARS THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP

My I drive on my 2004 e60 5series has a constant blue screen. I can not navigate around the options on the I drive properly however I still have radio and cd working. Please help!!!

Sounds like the iDrive unit has failed. You can try a reset with a scan tool. https://us.autologic.com/news/bmw-idrive-display-reset-how-to - Nick at Pelican Parts

2008 bmw 528i.screen goes dead ,radio turns on/off itself. cant use bluetooth.controls on steering wheel will not work, then will. navigation idrive knob cant control screen, next time it works just fine.

Sounds like the radio / Nav unit has failed. You can try a reset. https://us.autologic.com/news/bmw-idrive-display-reset-how-to - Nick at Pelican Parts

Hi i have a 2005 bmw e60 i can connect my phone to the idrive but no sound comes out of the speakers. Also the communications just says please wait.... I have tried different mobiles which all connect but same issue. i have also tried a mulf unit but still the same. Thinking of trying another idrive screen what do you think.

This could be a faulty RAD module or iDrive screen. You can try a system reset using an advanced BMW scan tool like Autologic. - Nick at Pelican Parts

I would like to upgrade my 07 bmw 530xi from ccc to cic. do you know if the 8.8 displays are all the same resolution. does it matter getting it from an 04 to a 2010?

So, for the past year, the iDrive system 2004 545i is dead at times, but comes back to life from time to time. Lately it has been more dead than alive. Suddenly, it has come back to life, but the menu button does not return you to the main screen. If I want to change from Entertainment to Navigation, I must reset the system vol+eject button and quickly change to up/down/right/left when main screen shows. Otherwise, it goes back to where it was last. This is also true for settings by pressing knob down. Any ideas? Doesn"t sound like a screen issue. My mechanic who I have been trusting less and less says it is a fiber optic cable issue. Could that be true? Thanks.

Looks like a resolution problem with the display. It is possible you have the wrong screen. did this just happen or when you replaced a part? Looks to me like it thinks it has the extended monitor in it. - Nick at Pelican Parts

I have a BMW 2005 545... the navigation screen went blank and I"ve tried everything I even replaced the screen with a second hand screen and it still won"t come on what could be the problem?

The ccc on my 2008 BMW 550i msport keeps rebooting. The screen shows the BMW logo and disappears continually. I found that if I press the mode button near the CD player repeatedly the ccc will start working again until i shut the car off. Then I"d have to repeat the process to get the ccc to work.

Sounds like the CCC is faulty. First have someone with a BMW scan tool confirm the software is up to date, if so you may need a ccc. - Nick at Pelican Parts

Sounds like it is mechanically broken / worn out. Give The Pelican Parts parts specialists a call at 1-888-280-7799. They can figure out what part or repair kit you need.

Hmmm. I am thinking that perhaps you used the wrong type cable, they are specific! Typically when this is done there will be components near the LVDS connector on the logic board that may get damaged or perhaps a chip onboard will fry instantly. However, since you still have signs of life I suggest that the connector in the logic board is damaged, look carefully (with a magnifying glass and a strong light to see if any conectiins to the connector is damaged. Also you can look inside the connector on logic board to see if any black areas are preventing a connection. There is also a fuse in that location but since you have lines this fuse should be good but there is one line obviously not making contact. Perhaps you used a used defective cable but since using the old cable gives you the same results I"m tho king it"s in either the connector inside the screen or where it attaches to logic board. I have used the striker from a book of matches to wedge inside the connector and rub gently back and forth to clean the contacts as the striker is a very fine sandpaper. You can download free Board view schematics but you may have to watch Louis Rossmann videos to get tips and if you see his board views the name of the free Board view websites is on his screen sort of a water mark. This will give you ideas of what voltages are supposed to be.

I would suggest you let someone else handle this as they will have test parts etc to eliminate the possibility of a bad cable or a bad LCD. Knowledge rules but without proper tools knowledge is almost useless.

NOT recommended procedure but while the laptop is on I have removed the LVDS cable from the logic board and slipped it in and out a few time until it worked. When and if it does work if you turn it off and on and it reverts back to lines them a diode or capacitor is likely damaged and this is a technical repair requiring SMD and a microscope, as well as a donor board to rescue parts from.

Without test parts you have a difficult task ahead. Try to find a local repair guy on Kijiji to help you since SMD repairs are typically $300. range. Aliexpress also have mail-in sites that may offer a cheaper fix than Rossmann.

Sorry I can"t help further and hope all works out but people, don"t attempt these type of repairs yourself unless it"s something you picked up off kijiji for cheap and you don"t lose hundreds of dollars making a mistake due to lack of knowledge, skills, equipment.

The navigation system may work intermittently. The cost to repair or replace the CCC navigation unit at BMW dealerships varies between $1000 and $1600.

Another popular solution for BMW owners is to use a third-party vendor who offers BMW CCC Repair on eBay and will repair your existing unit. CIC is a newer system and more powerful than CCC. Unfortunately, many BMW CCC units fail after five years of use. Some common BMW CCC failure is due to a processor chip partially separated from the PCB or a failed capacitor.

The owner may remove the CCC unit and try to heat the onboard chips with a heat gun. This method doesn’t always guarantee that the CCC will work, and you can cause more damage with this method. Before you spend hundreds on BMW iDrive CCC repair, there are a few things that you can try yourself.

A ‘no sound’ issue may be caused by a bad amplifier or a damaged optical cable. In the next section, we will discuss some of the most common causes of BMW CCC failure.

Remove the fuse for CCC Navigation for at least fifteen seconds and reinstall. In some cases removing the fuse for a few minutes can make your BMW navigation come back to life.

One of the cheapest ways to fix BMW CCC units is to find a company that offers BMW CCC repair services on eBay. You will spend under $400 to repair your damaged CCC iDrive system vs. 1000+ at the dealer.

BMW CCC units can fail due to various reasons. Try some of the following tricks to get the CCC to work before spending hundreds of dollars on changing the CCC.

If the device does not fully turn on and load the home screen or if it cannot stay on without being connected to a charger, it"s considered not able to turn on.
