gs75 stealth lcd panel made in china
The brand-new GS75 not only belongs to the flattest gaming laptops on the market but also to the best-looking ones. In our detailed review, you"ll find out if the 17-incher can also shine under the hood.
It’s an interesting market, because for regular laptops – meaning, not the slim and light variants we’ve been talking about so far – we wouldn’t recommend a more expensive RTX 2060 laptop over a cheaper GTX 1070 laptop right now. But for slim and light systems, the GTX 1070 Max-Q and RTX 2060 are fairly priced given their performance differences. What is the better option will be down to your budget, though we tend to like a lot the value offered by the RTX 2060 GS75 just because we love this MSI design and its 17 inches for playing games.

With a spiffy thin design, lots of pep for 1080p gaming, and surprising battery life, MSI"s GS75 Stealth is a solid early entry in the GeForce RTX gaming-laptop stakes.

We have a fantasy. If we could take an MSI GS75 Stealth back in time to 2008 or even 2012, we’re fairly certain we could walk into any PC gaming LAN party and declare ourselves a minor deity. “Behold: I carry a laptop more powerful than any of your gaming computers, and it weighs less than five pounds! Grovel before me!”

MSI GS75 Stealth 8SE-066ESDo you want a high-end laptop? Check. Do you want it to be thin and light? Check. Do you want it to be cheap? Well, sorry, that is not possible.
There are too many 2 out of 3 rules in life. Same applies to laptops, electronics as well. If you want it to be high quality and ask for high performance at the same time, you can’t get it cheap. MSI’s GS75 8SE series are exactly in that category. The only thing that is not up to date is the CPU. It is from last year’s Intel 8th generation, but the performance difference vs. the 9th generation is only minimal. With the RTX 2060, you can play almost all the games on the market today in high resolutions. The screen is not 4K, but at least 144Hz. 1080p 144 Hz is better than 4K 60 Hz of course. Therefore, there is not much to complain about the screen.
There are of course smaller and lighter devices available. The thing with high performance is cooling. With the GS75, MSI does a good job. The problem with smaller devices is that they don’t have enough area for disposing of excess heat. Then what you end up is having a high end device, which can’t reach up to its performance. But with the GS75 8SE series, the case has enough size to leverage from, therefore emissions are not much of a problem for the user.
At the end of my time with the MSI GS75 Stealth, I"m still not on board with gaming laptops. Despite my preferences, MSI does a lot right with its GS75, and if I were looking for a portable gaming computer, this would be the one.
The sleek MSI GS75 Stealth 9SG handles all modern triple-A games with ease thanks to its Core i7-9750H processor and GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q GPU. The 17.3-inch device has good battery life too, lasting longer between charges than even some office laptops.
MSI GS75 9SE-278 StealthThe MSI GS75 9SE-278 Stealth is a gaming laptop that will shock gamers at just how little it weighs, which is 2.27 kg (5 lbs). That’s basically not much heavier than most 15-inch laptops. Despite being very lightweight, it packs high-performance hardware in it. For design, it has the latest thin bezel design, which not only offers immersive visuals but also fits a bigger display in a compact and small form factor. Its the perfect fit for mobile experience. The premium glass touchpad comes with an enlarged surface area and an extremely smooth finish, perfect for all click, scroll, and multi-touch gesture needs. The keyboard is the per-key RGB gaming keyboard by SteelSeries with silver-lining print. Users can customize each key to their liking and receive real-time in-game status through keyboard lighting, or even watch the lights dance to their favorite tune. The display has a 17.3-inch Full HD (1,920 x 1,080), 144 Hz, IPS-level gaming display. Users can also expand their vision across multiple displays with HDMI and Thunderbolt 3 and enjoy up to 4K (3,840 x 2,160) resolution output at 60 Hz for some extra productivity and fun.
As for hardware, it has an i7-9750H 2.6 GHz processor and 16 GB DDR4-SDRAM. User can enjoy boosted gameplay and faster rendering with up to 45% performance gain, as well as dominate all with more cores and higher clock speed. User can have all their games and data on-the-go with up to three M.2 SSD storage slots, all within a slim and sleek chassis. The graphics rendering is handled by the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060. For cooling features, the newly designed Whirlwind Blade fans effectively increase air pressure and airflow at the same RPM. Independent thermal solutions for both CPU and GPU ensures best gaming performance, even under extreme loads. Additionally, with the first-ever passive radiator design on laptop speakers, the GS75 delivers stunning audio bass despite its compact chassis. In addition to mids and highs from the main drivers, the passive radiators generate the "extra oomph" for an even more powerful sound. The laptop also has the MSI APP Player. Developed under an exclusive partnership with BlueStacks, the MSI APP Player brings seamless gaming experience between mobile games and PC platform and leverages customized features such as specific keyboard lighting and better graphics with multi-task works. As a conclusion, the MSI GS75 9SE-278 Stealth is a very lightweight and sleek gaming laptop with decent performance. A laptop with 17.3-inch screen with the weight of a 15” screen laptop is not commonly seen. It is catered for gamers who want a laptop on the go with a big display and light weight.
I’m overall very pleased with the MSI GS75 Stealth. The performance you get in such a light package is definitely its main highlight and as a result, this notebook games well, but it"s also a great computer for productivity purposes, as it’s portable, powerful and looks somewhat professional. Nonetheless, as much as I enjoyed my time with it, the GS75 is not perfect and you"ll find out about my complaints in the detailed review down below.
It may be stealthy by name, but it"s anything but when gaming due to its loud fans. MSI has refreshed its premier ultra-thin 17.3-inch gaming laptop with both 10th gen Intel Core CPU and GeForce Super options for slightly faster performance than last year"s Coffee Lake-H SKUs.
Today we"re checking out the top-of-the-line MSI GS75 Stealth 8SG, one of a number of new RTX-powered gaming laptops from MSI. As this beast fits into their Stealth line, it"s designed to be a slim and light portable gaming system, with the GS75 branding indicating it"s their 17-inch model. Previously we reviewed the GS65 and really liked it, so we were definitely keen to check out the larger model equipped with a new GPU.
The GS75 Stealth 8SG model we were sent for testing is the most powerful unit available equipped with an RTX 2080 Max-Q GPU. There are also models available with the RTX 2070 Max-Q and the RTX 2060. Each variant of this laptop with a different GPU is then available with different RAM and storage configurations, in our case we received 32GB of dual-channel memory and a dual 512GB SSD setup in RAID 0.
In terms of CPU performance, all we"re looking for is to see whether the MSI GS75 Stealth performs especially well (or not) compared to the average result from all the Core i7-8750H laptops we"ve tested so far. It does depend on the workload, but the GS75 is a little slower on average, especially in longer workloads like Handbrake and x264 encoding where it"s about 6 percent behind. With that said, it"s a little faster shorter tasks like 7-Zip and MATLAB so this isn"t a bad result overall, it"s just can"t sustain as high performance for as long as some of the beefier laptops we"ve tested.
If you are coming from a quad-core laptop, something using a Core i7-7700HQ for example, you can expect the GS75 to deliver pretty sizable gains: 40% in workloads like x264 encoding, and over 50% in 7-Zip, with a handy 10% improvement in single-threaded tasks as well. Jumping up to six-cores is a good move, especially if you do a lot of multi-threaded work, and it can help alleviate a few bottlenecks in some games.
The GS75 Stealth uses the regular 80W configuration of the RTX 2080 Max-Q, not the faster 90W version, so the data to look at in our GPU review is for the standard configuration. But that data only refers to how this laptop performs in the default Sport performance mode, if you enable the Turbo mode, the GPU gets a 100 MHz factory overclock of sorts, which improves performance over the "standard" RTX 2080 Max-Q configuration.
We"re getting 12 percent more performance from the GS75 than a standard RTX 2070 Max-Q laptop without any factory overclocking. Some games are heavily constrained by the CPU or other hardware, like Hitman 2, while other such as Metro Exodus deliver 17 percent more performance. You"re not getting desktop-like margins here, but low double digit gains from the same cooler design isn"t bad.
How does 27 percent more performance than the GTX 1070 Max-Q sound? That"s a very healthy improvement assisted by the small factory overclock provided by the GS75. We"re not comparing the same price bracket, but we suspect some people with a GTX 1070 Max-Q laptop might be considering spending a bit more cash on their next upgrade.
You"ll also get 18% more performance than an RTX 2060 laptop. This is another GPU that"s available in the MSI GS75, so which GPU is best might come down to the pricing you can get for each variant. The RTX 2080 Max-Q is a decent amount faster.
MSI"s current-generation triple-fan cooling solution is very good, it"s definitely one of the better designs we"ve seen for this sort of portable gaming system. Even when using the overclocked Turbo mode, the GS75 is quieter than your average gaming laptop, at 44.5 dBA. And it does this while keeping the GPU around 75 degrees C, which is cooling performance you"d normally expect from a chunkier laptop like the ROG Strix Scar II, not a slim system like this.
In fact, the GS75 is significantly better it this regard than the GS65 with the GTX 1070 Max-Q, although it is slightly louder, it"s also a larger system so there"s more room for heat dissipation, and the GPU is different. More impressively, it"s quieter and cooler than the Gigabyte Aero 15 X9, which uses the slower RTX 2070 Max-Q. However, this does come at the cost of CPU cooling, which is right at its limit, hitting 91 degrees C under a gaming load.
Looking at storage performance, the GS75 we received with 1TB of SSD space was configured with two Samsung PCIe NVMe drives in RAID 0, so naturally it delivered extremely good sequential speeds. Random performance is at the limit of these drives but is still excellent for a gaming laptop, and it"s safe to say this SSD is much faster than what you need for game loading.
The display is 17.3-inches in size, it packs a 1080p resolution and it has a 144 Hz refresh rate. You don"t get adaptive sync, which is a trade-off to allow better battery life through GPU switching, but the quality of this panel is great and the high refresh rate is a perfect pairing for this GPU that often pushes frame rates above 100 FPS at 1080p with Ultra settings.
Overall the MSI GS75 Stealth 8SG is an excellent portable gaming laptop. There"s not a lot to complain about in regards to the hardware package. We absolutely love the metal chassis, the 15-inch display is very good, it"s cooler and quieter than an average gaming laptop despite the size and powerful hardware inside, and there"s good I/O.
Unfortunately, this hardware comes at a price, and it"s a high one. To get top-end performance in this size, you"re going to need to fork out $2,800, and that"s just for the GS75 with a 256GB SSD and 16GB of RAM. For the configuration we reviewed, with a 1TB SSD and 32GB of RAM, it"s closer to $3,000.
The value situation is further muddied by Pascal laptops, which admittedly are getting harder to find as stock clears out. Right now you can get a GTX 1070 Max-Q system like the Asus ROG Zephyrus S for around $1,800, which is slightly better value than the RTX 2060 GS75, given the 1070 Max-Q is also slower.
It"s an interesting market, because for regular laptops - meaning, not the slim and light variants we"ve been talking about so far - we wouldn"t recommend a more expensive RTX 2060 laptop over a cheaper GTX 1070 laptop right now. I created a custom power plan based on High-Performance and then went into the Nvidia Control Panel>Manage 3D settings>Preferred graphics processor - changed this to High-performance NVIDIA processor.
CES for MSI is generally focused more on the components side of the business, however, this year was a bit different as the gaming laptops took centre stage and the MSI GS75 STEALTH was the showstopper. Built along the same design philosophy as the MSI GS65, this new laptop takes things up a notch with the new NVIDIA GTX 2080 mobility GPU. Aside from the latest Turing-based GPU, another facet that stands out with the GS75 STEALTH is the massive 17-inch 144 Hz display. We had a few moments to play around with the GS75 STEALTH after the MSI press conference. Here’s what we thought about MSI’s latest and slimmest gaming laptop.
The MSI GS75 STEALTH borrows heavily from the design of the GS65. In fact, you wouldn’t be able to tell the two apart unless they were put right next to each other. The chassis is all aluminium with a matte black finish. This is paired with the bronze trim along the edges of the top side and the bronze accents at the hinges. Together these give the GS75 that all too familiar look which is signature to the series.
Coming to the sides, we see the same mish-mash of triangular and trapezoidal cutouts for the cooling vents. The MSI GS75 STEALTH has cooling vents on all three sides while the intake is from the bottom. Also, the bottom is where we see a snazzier looking arrangement for the intakes. The intake has a massive footprint as well, taking up about 30-40% of the entire bottom surface. We like the fact that there are rubber spacers around the intake to keep them elevated, thus ensuring plenty of airflow.
The overall finish looks good but is a serious fingerprint magnet. The good part is that you can only notices the blemishes under a powerful light. The unit is also surprisingly slim and because of the thinner bezels, the MSI GS75 STEALTH ends up being much smaller than other 17-inch laptops. In most gaming laptops, we see the display ending up slim and most of the bulk is moved to the lower body. In this case, the entire unit clocks in at 18.95 millimeters which is impressive. Especially considering that it houses a NVIDIA RTX 2080 Max-Q GPU which is more power-hungry than the previous gen Pascal GPUs and are rated for a higher TDP.
Not much has changed with the keyboard. We have the same keyboard as seen on the MSI GS65, except the GS75 STEALTH comes with a full keyboard including the numpad. The RGB mechanism is still powered by Steelseries Engine 3 and provides per-key RGB with the ability to customize them all. There are no macro keys, but you can assign macros with software as is the case with any other keyboard. Steelseries Engine 3 has the Gamesense feature which allows you to map ingame stats such as health, ammo, armour, etc onto the keyboard RGB pattern.
For obvious reasons we can’t comment about the performance of the laptop since we did not see any benchmarks being run nor did we run any ourselves. However, we do know that the hexa-core Intel Core i7 processors pack quite the punch. On top of that, the MSI GS75 STEAKTH comes with the NVIDIA RTX 2080 Max-Q GPU which is much more powerful than the GTX 1070 present on the GS65. With RTX GPUs, there’s the added benefit of being able to run games which have ray-tracing features and support NVIDIA’s new DLSS feature.
Another key improvement is that you now get to have 3 NVMe SSDs in the GS75 STEALTH. We’d only seen this many slots in the Acer Predator 21 X and that thing costs $9000 or Rs.6,99,999 in India. So getting a feature set that’s usually reserved for the absolute high-end machine at a much more affordable segment is always a plus point. Not that the GS75 STEALTH isn’t a premium laptop, but compared to the GT-series, the GS-series is a step down.
Just like the GS65, the GS75 also comes with a 144 Hz IPS-level panel. That is to say that it isn’t actually an IPS panel but the colour reproduction is pretty much in the same league as most IPS panels. This is because of the MSI True Colour technology wherein MSI calibrates each laptop display to achieve near about 100% SRGB colour gamut. Moreover, you aren’t limited to just the one panel, you can hook up two additional displays to the HDMI and Thunderbolt ports. The additional panels will only run at 60 Hz.
All MSI GS75 STEALTH SKUs come with 82 Whr (4-cell batteries) which according to MSI’s internal benchmarks can provide over 8 hours of battery life. Usually, this coupled with the fact that it’s being powered by an RTX 2080 would mean that the power requirements are quite high. And that means you’ll have a bulky power adapter but that’s not the case here since MSI has opted to go with a slimmer adapter. Compared to the 230 W adapters that shipped with the previous gen laptops, these new ones are about 38% smaller. We started seeing these slim adapters introduced at COMPUTEX 2018 and it’s about time that OEMs started shipping laptops with these smaller power bricks.
The MSI GS75 STEALTH will not be coming to India anytime soon. We will be getting the upgraded GS65 within this quarter but the GS75 will be coming along much later. As for the pricing, we have not received any official word as of yet.
The MSI GS75 Stealth is an excellent gaming laptop with plenty of power and superb graphics. Additionally, despite its large screen, it features a very sleek design and slim chassis. The only drawback is that it has a short battery life and gets hot quickly when gaming.
Have you been on the lookout for a gaming laptop with a huge, colorful display? If so, read this MSI GS75 Stealth review to learn more about the laptop and whether it is right for you.
The MSI GS75 Stealth design is examined in depth in this review. I’ll also give you an overview of how the processor, RAM, storage, graphics, and battery perform.
Finally, after reading this review to the end, you will have enough information regarding the MSI GS75 Stealth. As a result, you will be able to make an informed decision on whether or not to purchase this laptop.
MSI wowed the gaming world when it released the 15-inch GS65 Stealth in 2018, which is the GS75 Stealth’s predecessor. GS65 Stealth had it all: slim bezels, impressive gaming performance, an unbelievably thin chassis, stunning design, just name it.
A year later, MSI brought the same design to the 17-inch GS75 Stealth. Along with its larger size are updated components such as NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti graphics.
However, coming with an updated component and larger screen size, you wouldn’t expect MSI to sell the GS75 Stealth at a cheap price. The laptop starts at $1,199.00 in September 2021, at the time this review was published.
As I already hinted, the MSI GS75 Stealth follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, the GS65 Stealth, in terms of design. It isn’t flashy, but it stands out.
Gaming laptops do come with subpar displays, but that has changed in recent years. The GS75 Stealth’s screen is excellent: it’s fast and responsive for gaming, and it has good contrast and color accuracy.
Specifically, the GS75 Stealth features a 17.3-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) display screen. This screen boasts a 144Hz refresh rate, which means it supports frame rates of up to 144 fps without screen distortions.
Moving on, the MSI GS75 Stealth comes with a Steelseries keyboard. With 1.5-millimeter key travel and 71 g of actuation force, this keyboard is quite comfortable to use.
The GS75 Stealth is quite slim and lightweight despite featuring a 17.3-inch display screen. Specifically, it measures 395.9 x 259.5 x 19 mm and weighs 2249.8 g.
Comparatively, the GS75 Stealth is lighter than high-end laptops such as the Aorus X9 and Alienware 17 R5. The Aorus X9 weighs 3674 g while the Alienware 17 R5 weighs 4445 g.
The GS75 Stealth features a good number of ports for a gaming laptop this thin. On the left side, you’ll find the power jack, one RJ45 port, one USB 3.1 port, and a microSD card slot.
MSI doesn’t have a lot of its own branded bloatware, but the ones it includes in the GS75 Stealth are quite useful. For instance, MSI preinstalls the MSI Dragon Center app which allows you to keep track of your GPU, memory, and processor.
The MSI Driver and Application Center is another useful app for keeping all of your graphics drivers and MSI-related apps up to date. In addition to its useful bloatware, MSI sells the GS75 Stealth with a one-year warranty.
In conclusion, the GS75 Stealth boasts a sleek design and besides that, it is also lightweight. Additionally, it comes with a good number of ports – something unusual in gaming laptops.
The MSI GS75 Stealth comes with a six-core (Hexa-core) Intel processor which is mostly found on high-end productivity and gaming laptops. Specifically, it features an Intel Core i7-9750H which has a cache memory of 12 MB.
This is evident as the GS75 was able to run demanding applications such as Photoshop and Corel draw without any problem. Also, while running these applications, the MSI GS75 Stealth didn’t slow down and continue to perform smoothly like nothing ever happened.
The MSI GS75 Stealth continues with this exceptional performance as it excelled on a Geekbench 4 test. Geekbench 4 is a benchmark test that assesses how well a computer’s processor can handle real-world tasks and applications.
On this Geekbench 4 test, the MSI GS75 Stealth recorded a score of 20,921 points. Interestingly, the MSI GS75 Stealth recorded a slightly higher score than the Alienware 17 which uses a more powerful processor.
To further determine how well the GS75 Stealth can perform in a real-life scenario, I conducted a HandBrake benchmark test. HandBrake benchmark test involves transcoding 4K video to Full HD (1080p), with shorter time meaning better performance.
So, on the HandBrake test, it took the GS75 Stealth 11 minutes to transcode a 4K video to 1080p. Unfortunately, this time is longer than the category average of 9 minutes and 50 seconds.
In conclusion, for a gaming laptop, the Intel Core i7-9750H processor is more than capable. Therefore, I will rate MSI GS75 Stealth a nine out of ten in this processor review.
Based on my CPU review, I believe you must be impressed with the GS75 Stealth’s processor performance. I assure you, you will be even more impressed with its memory performance.
The GS75 Stealth features two 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM slots with a standard memory of 16 GB. However, the memory can be increased to a maximum of 32 GB on each slot – a maximum of 64 GB RAM altogether, impressive right?
My review laptop came with 32 GB RAM on one slot, which I think even for gamers should be sufficient. Moreover, with 32 GB RAM, most laptops as well as the GS75 Stealth should be able to multitask efficiently without hindrance.
Therefore, I was able to open 30 tabs on Chrome browser while playing Battlefieldand streaming a song on Spotify. First off, launching the tabs, game and application were swift, and besides that, the GS75 Stealth didn’t lag a bit.
To further assess the memory performance of the GS75 Stealth, I conducted a PCMark 10 test. PCMark 10 determines how well a laptop functions when performing tasks such as video conferencing, word processing, and web browsing.
Based on the PCMark 10 test outcome, the GS75 Stealth scored 4995 points. Comparatively, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus S scored 5241 points on the PCMark 10 test.
Apparently, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus S has a better performance than the GS75 Stealth. Regardless, GS75 Stealth has an outstanding performance and its memory capacity is also impressive.
Additionally, the GS75 Stealth features a microSD card reader for extra storage expansion. However, for a gaming laptop, a maximum storage capacity of 1 TB is insufficient.
Therefore, if you are planning on playing a lot of games on the GS75 Stealth, an external storage drive is highly recommended. To determine the speed of the MSI GS75 Stealth’s SSD storage, I carried out a Crystaldiskmark test.
Crystaldiskmark is a benchmarking tool used to measure the read and write speed of an SSD or HDD storage. The GS75 Stealth has a sequential read speed of 3387MB/s and a sequential write speed of 2703MB/s according to the Crystaldiskmark test.
Comparatively, the Dell G7 15 has a sequential read speed of 2924MB/s and a sequential write speed of 2821MB/s. Therefore, the GS75 Stealth has a faster read speed but a slower write speed compared to the Dell G7 15.
Moving on, I also performed a file transfer test on the MSI GS75 Stealth to further determine its storage speed. On this test, the GS75 Stealth duplicated 4.97GB of multimedia files in 6 seconds at a transfer rate of 848 Mbps
In conclusion, despite the fact that the GS75 Stealth’s SSD is really fast, I believe the storage capacity is insufficient. As a result, I will be rating MSI GS75 Stealth an eight out of ten in this storage performance review.
As expected from a gaming laptop, the GS75 Stealth comes with a discrete graphics card. Discrete graphics are independent graphics cards that are separate from the CPU.
In terms of graphics, the GS75 Stealth comes with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti graphics card with a 6 GB dedicated VRAM. This graphics card has a 1500 MHz base GPU frequency and 1770 MHz boost GPU frequency.
As a means of determining the graphics performance of the MSI GS75 Stealth, I performed a 3DMark Skydiver test. 3DMark Sky Diver is an innovative DirectX 11 benchmark test for assessing mobile GPUs, discrete graphics cards, and integrated graphics performance.
On this 3DMark Sky Diver test, the MSI GS75 Stealth scored 38915 points. This score is higher than the scores received by the Alienware 17and ASUS ROG Zephyrus S.
I also put the MSI GS75 Stealth to a real-world gaming test to further determine its graphics capabilities. For the gaming test, I played Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
While playing this game, the MSI GS75 Stealth delivered a smooth frame rate of 90 frames per second (fps). This frame rate is better than the Alienware 17’s 76 fps.
Unfortunately, on playing the game for 15 minutes, underneath the MSI GS75 Stealth reached 135 degrees Fahrenheit, which is quite hot. However, it is expected, due to the fact that I already mentioned that discrete graphics generates a lot of heat.
In conclusion, the MSI GS75 Stealth graphics performance is superb but it runs hot after playing a game for few minutes. For this reason, I will rate MSI GS75 Stealth an eight out of ten in my graphics review.
For battery, MSI offers the GS75 Stealth with a 4-cell 82 Whr, Lithium-ion battery. According to MSI, the GS75 Stealth should be able to last 6 hours with this battery.
However, that is just another manufacturer’s claim which I have learned not to trust. Therefore, I put the GS75 Stealth on a battery test to determine its actual battery runtime.
The battery test involves setting the laptop’s display brightness to 150 nits and browsing the internet via WIFI until the battery runs out. The MSI GS75 Stealth lasted only 2 hours and 29 minutes on this test – not even up to half of MSI’s 6 hours claim.
Regardless, the MSI GS75 Stealth’s battery life is very disappointing for a gaming laptop. Therefore, in this battery performance review section, I will rate the MSI GS75 Stealth a six out of ten.
Yes. The MSI GS75 Stealth is an exceptional gaming laptop with lots of power and excellent graphics performance. However, the only downside is that its battery life is very poor and it gets hot easily when gaming.
The GS75 Stealth has a gorgeous look and packs a ton of power into its tiny chassis. Moreover, the GS75 Stealth’s display, graphics, and processor performances are especially spectacular.
All of that power, though, comes at the expense of good battery life, and the laptop gets hot underneath quickly. Asides from those few flaws, the MSI GS75 Stealth is one of the best light and thin high-performance gaming laptops out there.

If you eager to have an ultra-slim gaming notebook and think GS65 is really good, you will feel even greater with the latest GS75 Stealth 8SG. At larger 17.3" display with thinnest bezel frame design, it looks even smaller than normal 15.6" notebooks, and right side comes with numeric keys are more convenience for office user or some type of programs.
With the faster 144Hs IPS display, GS75 Stealth presented really good colors on video and gaming, even in the coffee shop with yellow lights reflection, you could see that the display quality is amazing, because GS75 got "True Color" function which make the accurate color with sRGB Mode, that"s how MSI make better color presents even with same level display, it"s still better than most of other 144Hz display laptops.
When I got the GS75 Stealth, my first question was how is it possible to have RTX2080 Max-Q with a 18.9mm height of a 17" gaming laptop? In the previous GS65 with GTX 1070 Max-Q, it came with triple fans and 4 heatpipes in a very limited space. It"s good but not really enough for RTX 2080/2070 Max-Q.
But MSI is the expert to have powerful gaming laptops with better cooling system compared with same level products. The GS75 Stealth designed with cooling system of "Cooler Boost Trinity+", which came with 3 slim but powerful fans, and 7 heatpipes. It"s really amazing that MSI designed such a powerful cooling system under 5mm thin inside this ultra slim gaming notebook. Evan many bigger size and weight notebooks are less than 5 heat pipes for their latest RTX graphics models, and that’s why MSI gaming notebooks got higher performance mostly in any segmentation.
GS75 Stealth comes with brand new design, the most eye-catching at first glance is the shiny golden hinge, it looks strong and solid. The new hinge design is smoother, just need to use 1 finger could easily open the display, the hinge is really better than previous GS63/73 design.
Let"s take a look on overall performance to see how good is the GS75 Stealth. The 3D Mark 11 P might be too light to see the difference for higher level GPU performance, but still a basic reference to make comparison with old GPUs. The score P20165 is just over GTX1080 a bit. About 20% higher than GTX1080 Max-Q graphics.
Check the DirectX12 of Time Spy benchmark, GS75 Stealth with RTX 2080 Max-Q got 7129 score, previous GS65 with GTX1070 Max-Q only got 4540 score, new GS75 is 57% faster on this heavy loading DX12 features test. The GTX 1080 Max-Q got 5500 score, RTX 2080 Max-Q still 29% faster.
On the heavy loading game of "Assassins" Creed Origins", set all detail to Ultra High with built-in benchmark test, GS75 Stealth got 8764 score with over 72fps in average. That’s also higher than GTX1080 Max-Q at 58fps and GTX 1070 Max-Q with 52fps.
Let"s come to the most important and popular FPS game, Battlefield 5, the 1st game that support Real-Time Ray Tracing, the in game frame rate is around 60~85fps with ultra-setting, at this theme is 74fps, this already enabled the DX12 and Ray Tracing features in the game. That"s really smooth and powerful for this latest game title on the GS75 Stealth with RTX 2080 Max-Q graphics. See the lights reflection on the gun and river, that"s really close to realistic photo image.
Since GS75 comes with 2x NVMe SSDs with RAID0 mode, it’s should have extreme speed on the storage, both read and write speed over 3200~3400MB/s, even 4K access also very fast over 1200~1400MB/s, that"s really the highest speed of the PCI-E Gen3x4 bandwidth. And still got 1 M.2 SATA port to install up to 1TB capacity SATA SSD.
Slimmer but powerful GS75 to play smoother games on 17.3" 144Hz display just like a piece of cake, play any games smoother from 70~144fps easily, use Per-Key RGB keyboard with fancy lights, experience more detail sound from Dynaudio Speakers with over 91dBA high quality passive speakers. Watch video in the coffee shop with good headset is worth of it because GS75 comes with Hi-Res Audio at 24bit/192kHz for hours with longer battery life. Everything you eager to have with a best gaming notebook, you could find all advantage on the GS75 Stealth 8SG model!
The overall performance on RTX 2080 Max-Q is around 20%~30% faster than GTX 1080 Max-Q, will even higher in some heavy loading games, so it"s just a beginning to have GS75 Stealth 8SG RTX 2080 Max-Q laptop, you use it longer, you enjoy the value and advantage more! I will give it 9.5/10 Score!
