The Autotune kit can be configured to run and correct at all times or by using the “map switch port” on the PCV you can set it up so that you can switch back and forth between the tuning mode and the base map settings. The first major improvement over PC III from a tuning standpoint as far as Harley models are concerned is the ability to capture live ECM data thru the PC V software. In addition to the available functions in PC III USB software such as RPM, TPS, Duty cycle, and fuel change, the PC V now allows you to view valuable ECM data such as Cylinder Head temp, Intake Air temp, MAP, Battery Voltage, F/R Cyl Injector Pulsewidth, F/R Cyl Ignition Timing, Knock Sensors, Vehicle Speed, Gear Position and more. In addition, when the Auto Tune module is used real time AFR is also displayed, this is awesome! You can also view or log these parameters with the optional LCD-200 display as well. The software features individual tables for each cylinder for fuel and ignition timing as well as demanded AFR tables for each cylinder if the Auto Tune module is used. Fuel tables continue as a percentage of fuel change and ignition timing is in degrees.

Another big improvement is the ability to control EFI adjustments based on additional inputs such as gear position. For example you may want to lean the mixture a bit for 6th gear highway cruising for better MPG? No problem, the options are nearly endless and can be easily configured in the PC V software. You can also easily configure the PC-V to run 2 maps using any open/closed style switch. PC V continues to allow users to raise the Rev limiter to 6200 RPM"s and the Accellerator pump feature is included in the software. Gone is the 9V battery adapter that was required on the PC III USB for powering the unit when removed from the bike to make changes, the PC V now is powered thru the USB connection when removed from the bike.

Another great feature of the PC V is its size, as the PC V is much smaller than the PC III USB. This is especially helpful on bikes with tight fitments such as the Softail where we can now easily mount it under the seat, or on the Dyna where we can mount it in the hole in the frame under the seat.

Auto Tune is the ultimate add on for PC-V which allows for live, closed loop EFI tuning. Based closely on Dynojet"s new Wideband Commander 2 featuring an Auto Tune module and dual Bosch Wideband O2 sensors. The Auto tune module allows users set a demanded air/fuel ratio in the PC V software and the Auto tune will make adjustments in real time. There are AFR tables for each cylinder and they have the the same 250 RPM increment resolution as the fuel and ignition tables. The Auto tune can be configured for minimum run time before live sample, minimum Cylinder Head temp, as well as maximum +/- fuel adjustments in relation to the base map.

The Auto Tune kit can also use the Dynojet map switch or any open/closed switch which allows the user to switch between live tuning to the parameters set thru the PC V software or the base map in the PC V unit. You can leave the map switch in "live" mode, or if you want to write the fuel map you can connect to the PC V software, retrieve the fuel trims and either write them to the map or clear them. The firmware and tuning strategy has been well written and in our testing we have been able to develop very, very accurate maps using the Auto Tune module opposed to some of the other Auto tune units on the market we have tested in the past. We have also compared several Auto Tune derived maps to dyno tuned maps and the results were impressive.

A very important requirement for building a good tune is to have a somewhat close base map to start out with, as the Auto Tune writes its fuel trims off the base PC V map. The Auto Tune module does require some basic wiring from the sensor harness into the modules. The Auto Tune module is a very good choice for those with a unique build where a close map is not available or for those looking for the ability to tune in real time. The ultimate combination we recommend is combining a full dyno tune session with the Auto tune. We build the map for the best combination of performance and efficiency, and then implement the AFR"s we developed into the Auto Tune AFR table. This strategy will provide the best performance under all conditions.

7. The LCD displays engine rpm (great for bikes without tachometer) as well as throttle position (great for knowing where adjustments need to be made). Multiple maps can be stored in the LCD (requires optional SD memory card); the user can store several map settings and change them “on the fly.” These could be setup for things like “fuel economy” vs “full power.” On a long trip the user can choose the fuel economy setting (at the expense of throttle response and power) and once at the intended destination can switch back to the full power mode. Also, as the timing is adjustable via the maps in the Power Commander, the user can have both high and low octane settings. This allows the use of lower quality fuels (if that is all that was available) without worrying about detonation. Additionally, maps can be adjusted using the controls on the display. The LCD Display has the ability to log the data being displayed for later analysis on the same SD memory card.

8. Starting from the Main Menu, the user can make the same type of adjustments normally done using the faceplate buttons on the LCD at startup with the touch screen panel while the bike is running. This is great for seeing if additional fuel in a certain area can increase throttle response or if leaning out the bike for improved fuel economy affects smoothness (all without a laptop computer). For shop use, a technician can use the LCD to load maps into customer bikes.

9. The throttle position calibration of the PC USB can be reset using the LCD along with the fuel trims through all rpm range (prior to this it could only be reset by using a computer).

10. & 11. The LCD is also a data recorder (requires optional SD memory card) so the user can record things like rpm, throttle position, etc. to help with making map adjustments if no dyno is available. Data can be downloaded and played back on a computer. There are software updates that will allow the LCD to record and display 0-60 times as well as 1/4 mile times/speed (requires optional Dynojet Multi-Function Hub).

Additionally, for advanced users, the PCIII USB allows individual cylinder mapping. Now each cylinder can be mapped individually throughout the entire rpm/throttle position range.

The PCIII USB software allows you to compare two map files without the Power Commander connected. There is a numerical display as well as a brand new graphical display.

The button adjustment has been made easier by introducing a "startup delay". This lets the user have enough time to start the bike and then switch the PCIII USB into "button adjust" mode. The ranges of the buttons are now displayed in the software. Simply connect the unit to the computer and press one of the buttons. Their ranges are shown on the screen.

Every PCIII USB comes with a "power up" adapter which allows users to program and interface with the Power Commander on their desktop without being connected to the bike. Accelerator Pump - You can adjust: A) The amount of fuel to add, B) The number of engine revolutions during which fuel is added, C) The sensitivity of throttle movement under which the accelerator pump is activated.

The Ignition Module is connected to the PCIII USB with it’s built in expansion port link and communicates via a CAN interface. As in the case of the Power Commander, the Ignition Module uses OEM style connectors to plug in-line of the stock ignition harness so no cutting or splicing is required.

The Ignition Module uses “direct coil driver technology” and allows a high degree of timing adjustment. In the Power commander Control Center Software the user is able to advance or retard the ignition curve up to 10 degrees based on throttle position and RPM. It is also possible to alter the timing for each cylinder individually if necessary.

The Mult-Function Hub allows users to access advanced expansion features. Several optional harnesses are available to permit both input and output to/from the module

Rolling off the throttle, even slightly, slows your times and can be the difference between winning and losing. The Dynojet Quick Shifter (DQS) allows full throttle, clutch less shifting. This is done by momentarily cutting the fuel and or ignition, which unloads the transmission. During this time, the rider can shift up to the next gear without rolling off the throttle or using the clutch.
