If you set Touch control to Disable, then Touch Shutter is always off and the button for it won"t appear. Touch control is on the 3rd wrench menu. You can set Touch Shutter to Enable, and then use Touch control: Enable/Disable to toggle it on or off.

That is one way to assure that Touch Shutter is always off. However, that means you can"t use Touch control for anything else. I think I prefer that for general use anyway, although I can see where Touch control has some advantages.

Anyone know if the 80D has the same problem? I"m never going to use touch to focus. It drives me nuts when I accidentally hit it without realizing and take a wonderful picture of the floor. I guess you could hide all settings on the LCD screen, or use the viewfinder every time, but still.

Julzilla - I recently sold my 70D for an 80D. In addition to disabling "Touch Shutter" in the camera"s menu, I notice that when shooting in Live View with the 80D, in the lower left corner of the LCD is a Touch Shutter button. When I tap that it toggles between on & off. The 70D had the same feature but the difference i notice is, when I switch out of Live View or turn the camera off, the 80D remembers the last toggled state of the Touch Shutter button. The 70D I had didn"t and always defaulted to the "on" state when I turned the camera off and on. Touch to Focus is quite useful as is the touch screen capabilities in general. But Touch Shutter in Live View is not useful for the way I shoot.

I cracked my top LCD display last year while traveling, and was wondering if anyone knew how much it might cost to replace. I called Canon and they told me I would have to send it in before they could assess the damage/cost. It"s not just the plastic, either, seeing as the display itself has broken, unable to give information. See below. Just looking for an approximate cost; not sure if it"s worth the replacement.
