The replacement screen assembly was from Amazon, most likely a Chinese 3rd party supplier. I have noticed that I everything works great but there is some backlight bleed on the top of the screen where the microphone and faceID sensors are. I am wondering if I have tightened the screw too tight or if one of the components is pressing on the screen. I also noticed that if I don’t open the screen for longer than an hour, it opens up black. After more power ups though, the screen opens fine with no issues until it lays dormant again for 1 hr+. Is that an issue with the screen or a flex cable connection?
Also if I were to reopen the screen again, would the water proofing from the new adhesive that I installed be compromised and need another replacement?

However, yesterday the screen started to glitch and I could feel it overheating near the camera. It was still functioning, but every time I went to open the camera it caused my phone to restart. After an hour or so the entire screen turned black and the screen would appear green when I tried to restart it.
There is not one single dent, scratch, or even crack on the screen, except there was what appeared to be a small black blob on the upper right hand corner. I immediately took it to the Apple store thinking it was a defect or internal malfunction, but upon further inspection the associate told me there was a hairline crack on the LCD which caused the screen to internally bleed and that this is not covered under their limited warranty. I was told, since it was a complex situation they would have to send it in for further analysis and the process would take anywhere between 3-5 days, but I would have to pay for the cost of the phone (anywhere between $250-$500).
Is this crazy? A single hairline fracture on my LCD caused the blob to bleed, but would not be covered under warranty? There is literally no point of impact or external damage in any way, not even a scratch! They said it could have been due to pressure or something that impacted the screen in some way, but are their screens not equipped to handle being inside a purse or even in a back pocket?
Damaged phone screens usually come in the form of a cracked or chipped screen. However, ink blots and bleeding pixels can equally be a problem for your Samsung. Find out what you can do when you are faced with a bleeding screen.
According to Samsung, a broken LED screen can also suffer from ink blots and bleeding pixels. Blacklight bleeding can also be an issue with a broken screen, Mobile Screen Fix added.
Ink blots are the round spots of dead pixels in the screen that may have been subjected to a more gradual pressure that did leave the front glass intact but damaged the screen underneath, Samsung explained.
Bleeding pixels usually show up after the device sustains impact to the edge, and it causes rows or columns of pixels to glitch and displays black or oddly colored lines.
Blacklight bleeding can be a more subtle sign of screen damage but can escalate to a very obvious problem. This happens when the LCD screen is not perfectly adhered to its frame anymore, It Still Works explained. The light shines through the edges of the screen and can be visible when viewing darker images or displays. Blacklight bleeding may not be as obvious when viewing lighter images.
Pixel bleeding and ink blots can worsen over time, per Mobile Screen Fix. The LCD has sustained a lot of damage, and it can "spread" to other parts of the screen. Blacklight bleeding has not been found to worsen over time. However, it can affect the way you view certain images or displays. It is also a clear indication your phone has been damaged, and until diagnostics are run, it is unsure just how far the extent of the physical damage is.
Broken LED screens can suffer from ink blots and bleeding pixels, aside from cracked and chipped glass. Blacklight bleeding can also be a problem with a broken screen. Pixel bleeding and ink blots can worsen over time and repair is required the soonest.
Unfortunately, turning the device on and off or rebooting it will not help fix the problem. The screen is physically damaged, and therefore a physical replacement of the screen is required.
Urgency required more so for those screens suffering from inkblots and bleeding pixels since the problem does worsen over time. For Samsung phones suffering from backlight bleeding, the phone owners can still choose to continue using the phone if they wish. However, do note that the seal around the frame or cracks on the screen from the impact can still very much compromise the rest of the phone"s housing and interior.
For screen replacements, have it done by a professional like Samsung Authorized Service Centers such as uBreakiFix. It is also best to check the phone"s service contract and warranty to see if you can get a discount on the repair.

Samsung Display has the most sophisticated OLED manufacturing capabilities, which is why it has sometimes been the sole supplier for certain iPhone screens. Fellow Korean company LG has long been Apple’s secondary supplier.

For the second year in a row, Apple’s most exciting new iPhone is its cheapest. The confusingly named iPhone 11 replaces the iPhone XR and, pound for pound, it blows the socks off the iPhone 11 Pro, the confusingly named successor to the iPhone XS. This is why.
Apple made a song and dance about the iPhone 11 Pro display, but in truth not a lot has changed from the iPhone XS while the iPhone 11 appears identical to the iPhone XR. Can you spot the differences?

Here’s a helping hand: the iPhone 11 Pro has doubled its contrast ratio (hence ‘Xtreme Dynamic Range’ - the same marketing used on Apple’s premium monitors) while making it 15% more efficient. Against that, the Pro actually has a slightly lower screen-to-body ratio than the iPhone XS (82.9%) and it has lost 3D Touch, Apple’s class-leading, pressure-sensitive input technology which has been replaced with plain old haptic feedback. This is the same tech seen on the iPhone 11 and last year’s iPhone XR.
As for the iPhone 11, it is like for like with the iPhone XR so it still only has an HD, not Full HD, capable panel. That said, the XR displaysurprised a lot of peoplelast year and it"s more than ‘good enough’ so the fact that the iPhone 11 Pro now shares the same haptic feedback means the gap will have actually closed in the eyes of some buyers. Both phones also receive a new generation of Face ID, which Apple states is 30% faster than last year.
Omissions? The big one is the iPhone 11 Pro skipping a 90/120Hz High Refresh Rate panel likemany of its rivals. HRR is, arguably, thebreakout techof the year so that"s a real shame.
Now in its third year, the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro carry the same polarising notched display as the 2017 iPhone X. But this year, Apple has made the Pro heavier and the back of both models uglier. The good news is these downgrades are for good reasons.
Having jumped 11 grams, the 5.8-inch iPhone 11 Pro is now almost the same weight as the 6.1-inch iPhone 11 but justifying this is superior build quality (stainless steel Vs aluminium chassis) and a big battery upgrade (more later). A further iPhone 11 Pro improvement is enhanced IP68 water resistance (it survives 30 minutes at 4 metres Vs 30 mins at 2 metres), but this is not going to be a game-changer for most people.
In terms of finishes. The iPhone 11 is more interesting with Product(Red), black, white, yellow, green and purple options while the iPhone 11 Pro is limited to more sober space grey, silver, gold and a new dark (“midnight”) green.
Stepping up its camera game this year, Apple has fitted bulky rectangular camera humps to both iPhones which polarise opinion but the company has also done a lot to justify it:
Yes, Apple has added an ultrawide camera to both the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 but the latter does not get the telephoto lens which has been a staple of premium iPhones since the iPhone 7 Plus in 2016. It also means the iPhone 11 Pro is likely to retain an advantage with Portrait Mode shots as the telephoto lens is central to this. Both phones do, however, share a brighter True Tone flash than last year.
From a feature perspective, both phones also get a new Night mode as Apple plays catch up with rivals but the real headliner is video. Here Apple has enabled all cameras to record simultaneously, allowing you to smoothly zoom in or out from a subject and adjust video in real-time. iPhones already set the benchmark for video and this is a big step up.
In terms of differentiators, Apple briefly teased the iPhone 11 range"s new U1Ultra-Widebandchip. Apple claims U1 is “like adding another sense” to the phone and it enables incredibly precise location data to be shared between U1-equipped devices. The only example of this functionality given so far is the ability to point an iPhone 11 at another iPhone 11 for file transfers with AirDrop, but Apple isbeing intriguingly vague.
As for networking, the iPhone 11 actually gets network performance parity with the iPhone 11 Pro. Last year the iPhone XR has an inferior chip to the iPhone XS but the new models will both support 1Gbit (theoretical) LTE performance. The risk, however, is Apple has skipped 5G. This not may be a dealbreaker for customers in 2019 but it may lead to some regret later on with the average length of smartphone ownershipapproaching three years.
Last year, Apple made the welcome but strategically questionable decision to give the iPhone XR longer battery life than the iPhone XS and XS Max. This year, Apple has fixed that mistake but I doubt iPhone 11 buyers will be complaining:
While the iPhone 11 has had a minor boost over the long-lasting iPhone XR (Apple claims it will last an hour longer), the iPhone 11 Pro has received a 20% capacity increase so it will last “up to 4 hours” longer than the iPhone XS and “up to one hour longer” than the iPhone 11.
Apple has also finally given the iPhone 11 Pro an 18W faster charger in the box. This is still dwarfed by the45W charging of some rivals, but it’s substantially better than the woeful 5W charger you still get with the iPhone 11.
There’s also bad news when it comes to wireless charging. Apple failed to mention any improvements to the sluggish 7.5W wireless charging speeds of the iPhone XS and iPhone XR, while the long-expected‘reverse’ wireless chargingfailed to materialise. Reverse wireless charging (which allows a smartphone to wirelessly power devices placed upon it) has been a hit for Huawei and Samsung, so its omission is disappointing.
Yes, while the iPhone 11 Pro is identically priced to the iPhone XS, the iPhone 11 is $50 cheaper than the iPhone XR at every price point. Storage capacities also remain unchanged from last year, but the fact a 64GB iPhone 11 is $300 cheaper than a 64GB iPhone 11 Pro is mind-bending.
Personally I can’t see how a stainless steel chassis, an OLED display, a telephoto lens, a fast charger and one extra hour of battery life is worth $300 more. Especially now the iPhone 11 Pro has lost 3D Touch, gained some weight and missed out on reverse wireless charging, a high refresh rate display and 5G. Moreover, for those who like to live on the bleeding edge, we know Apple has somethingfar more radical coming next year.
An LED-backlit LCD is a liquid-crystal display that uses LEDs for backlighting instead of traditional cold cathode fluorescent (CCFL) backlighting.TFT LCD (thin-film-transistor liquid-crystal display) technologies as CCFL-backlit LCDs, but offer a variety of advantages over them.
While not an LED display, a television using such a combination of an LED backlight with an LCD panel is advertised as an LED TV by some manufacturers and suppliers.
The local dimming method of backlighting allows to dynamically control the level of light intensity of specific areas of darkness on the screen, resulting in much higher dynamic-contrast ratios, though at the cost of less detail in small, bright objects on a dark background, such as star fields or shadow details.
A 2016 study by the University of California (Berkeley) suggests that the subjectively perceived visual enhancement with common contrast source material levels off at about 60 LCD local dimming zones.
LED-backlit LCDs are not self-illuminating (unlike pure-LED systems). There are several methods of backlighting an LCD panel using LEDs, including the use of either white or RGB (Red, Green, and Blue) LED arrays behind the panel and edge-LED lighting (which uses white LEDs around the inside frame of the TV and a light-diffusion panel to spread the light evenly behind the LCD panel). Variations in LED backlighting offer different benefits. The first commercial full-array LED-backlit LCD TV was the Sony Qualia 005 (introduced in 2004), which used RGB LED arrays to produce a color gamut about twice that of a conventional CCFL LCD television. This was possible because red, green and blue LEDs have sharp spectral peaks which (combined with the LCD panel filters) result in significantly less bleed-through to adjacent color channels. Unwanted bleed-through channels do not "whiten" the desired color as much, resulting in a larger gamut. RGB LED technology continues to be used on Sony BRAVIA LCD models. LED backlighting using white LEDs produces a broader spectrum source feeding the individual LCD panel filters (similar to CCFL sources), resulting in a more limited display gamut than RGB LEDs at lower cost.
A first dynamic "local dimming" LED backlight was public demonstrated by BrightSide Technologies in 2003,Sony in September 2008 on the 40-inch (1,000 mm) BRAVIA KLV-40ZX1M (known as the ZX1 in Europe). Edge-LED lighting for LCDs allows thinner housing; the Sony BRAVIA KLV-40ZX1M is 1 cm thick, and others are also extremely thin.
LED-backlit LCDs have longer life and better energy efficiency than plasma and CCFL LCD TVs.mercury, an environmental pollutant, in their manufacture. However, other elements (such as gallium and arsenic) are used in the manufacture of the LED emitters; there is debate over whether they are a better long-term solution to the problem of screen disposal.
Because LEDs can be switched on and off more quickly than CCFLs and can offer a higher light output, it is theoretically possible to offer very high contrast ratios. They can produce deep blacks (LEDs off) and high brightness (LEDs on). However, measurements made from pure-black and pure-white outputs are complicated by edge-LED lighting not allowing these outputs to be reproduced simultaneously on screen.
Quantum dots are photoluminescent; they are useful in displays because they emit light in specific, narrow normal distributions of wavelengths. To generate white light best suited as an LCD backlight, parts of the light of a blue-emitting LED are transformed by quantum dots into small-bandwidth green and red light such that the combined white light allows a nearly ideal color gamut to be generated by the RGB color filters of the LCD panel. In addition, efficiency is improved, as intermediate colors are no longer present and do not have to be filtered out by the color filters of the LCD screen. This can result in a display that more accurately renders colors in the visible spectrum. I had my screen recently replaced, cost me €109, I"d suggest to also check some local stores and see for how much they would do it. (if you know and dare to do it yourself it"s ALLOT cheaper, you can find the oneplus 3t display on ebay with tools to fix it for $65 USD)
You just have to ask yourself, do you want to invest in those tools and be ready for almost any screen replacement or any other types for DIY fixes? Or is it just going to be a one time use thing? Unless you"re always working on electronics, whether it be due to work, a hobby, or you"re just handy with them and the go-to-guy for friends and family, I would say just get it replaced by a shop. Also, I"m sure they"ll have some type of warranty, whether it be 30 days or one year.
AMOLED burn-in on screens and displays is permanent. Fortunately, you can slow it down and reduce its visibility by using a few simple tricks, which can also increase battery life.
Everyone with an OLED display has some burn-in. But often, it"s not fully visible unless you display a solid color at maximum brightness. The Android operating system has access to many apps that detect burn-in damage. The best of these is Screen Test.
Screen Test is ultra-simple: install and run the app. Touching the screen shifts between colors and patterns. If you see a persistent image impression or blotchy coloration, you have burn-in.
For my AMOLED phone, I"ve taken every precaution against screen burn-in. Even so, the display is still a little blotchy after over a year of use. Fortunately, there are no indications of burn-in where the navigation buttons are.
Android made it possible to get rid of the navigation bar in Android 10. Once enabled, gestures allow navigation by swiping your finger on the screen. You can enable Gesture mode by doing the following:
Some might notice that the stock wallpapers in Android aren"t usually suited for OLED screens. OLED screens consume very little energy when displaying the color black, and they do not burn-in when displaying black. Unfortunately, older Android versions don"t include a solid black wallpaper option.
If you don"t have Android 10 or newer, the default Android Launcher isn"t OLED friendly. In Android 5.0, it forces the App Drawer wallpaper to white (the worst color for OLED screens). One of the best launchers for darker colors is Nova Launcher. Not only is it more responsive, it offers better customization options.
Minma Icon Pack changes your bright, screen-damaging icons into a darker, OLED-friendly palette. Over 300 icons are available, which cover the default icons as well as many others.
There are a few other burn-in repair tools, but I don"t recommend them since they either require root access and/or can increase screen damage. However, for reference, you can read about them below and why using them is a bad idea. They fall into two categories:
I do not recommend using this option unless your screen is already trashed. It will cause additional damage but may reduce the appearance of already existing on-screen burn. Inverting colors simply reverses the colors displayed on your screen. Whites become blacks and vice-versa.
Several tools claim to reduce the appearance of burn-in by attempting to age the entirety of your OLED panel. These screen burn-in tools flash red, green, and blue (or other) colors on your screen.
None of these methods will stop the inevitable and slow destruction of your device"s screen. However, using all the recommended options in this article will dramatically decrease the rate at which it decays. That said, some of the oldest AMOLED phones have very little burn-in. The decay of organic LEDs is almost entirely aesthetic, particularly on newer phones.
