The Nissan Titan is a full-size pickup truck manufactured in the United States for the North American market by Nissan. It was named for the Titans of Greek mythology.
Development of the Titan began in September 1999, with design work under Diane Allen. Giovanny Arroba"s TA60 exterior was chosen in late 2000, with a final production freeze in July 2001. The design language of the future truck was previewed by the 2001 Alpha T concept shown at the 2001 Detroit Auto Show, which had previously developed through November 2000.
Production began on September 21, 2003 and sales on December 1, 2003.F-Alpha platform. This new platform was shared with the Nissan Armada and Infiniti QX56 SUVs, with all three manufactured in Canton, Mississippi, United States. The first generation Titan continued without a major redesign through 2015.
All models came standard with a 32-valve, 5.6-liter engine, VK56DE, which generates 317 hp (236 kW) (305 hp or 227 kW on 2004–2007 models) and 385 lb⋅ft (522 N⋅m) of torque. The first generation Titan came equipped with a fully boxed ladder frame and was available in either rear-wheel drive or a shift-on-the-fly four-wheel-drive system coupled with a five-speed RE5R05A automatic transmission. An automatic brake-limited slip (ABLS) system was available on all Titans. The first generation was available as a King Cab (extended cab) or a crew cab with a full-sized back seat, with no regular cab being offered. The King Cab featured a 6-foot-7-inch (2.01 m) bed, while the crew cab had a 5-foot-7-inch (1.70 m) bed. In 2008, a longer wheelbase model was offered with either an 8-foot-3-inch (2.51 m) bed on the King Cab or a 7-foot-3-inch (2.21 m) bed on the crew cab. There were originally four trim levels available: the S, SV, Pro-4x, SE, and LE. The SE and LE trim was eventually replaced by the luxury SL trim. The S was the base model, the SV a mid-level model with more features, the PRO-4X was the off-road-oriented version, and the top level SL was offered with features like 20-inch alloy wheels as standard equipment.
The first generation Titan carried a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for driver frontal crash, and a four-star rating for passenger frontal crash.
The second-generation Titan was to be a lightly reskinned, rebadged version of the Dodge Ram, but those plans fell through with the 2008 worldwide financial crisis.
The standard engine is a 5.6-liter V8 gasoline engine.automatic. Additionally, through the end of 2019,Cummins 5.0-liter turbodiesel V8 that produces almost 555 lb⋅ft (752 N⋅m) of torque. The engine is referred to as the ISV.
The second-generation Titan is available in two forms, regular and XD. The XD version is built on a heavy-duty frame based on Nissan"s commercial vehicle line and includes the Cummins diesel engine as an option. The platform is shared with the Nissan NV.
Three different cab styles are offered for the Titan and Titan XD: a two-door regular cab, four-door King (extended) Cab, and four-door crew cab. The four-door crew cab models were the first trucks to debut, followed by the King Cab and regular cab. Trim levels for the Titan and Titan XD are S, SV, Pro-4X (4X4 only), SL, and Platinum Reserve. The regular cab was only available with either S or SV trim levels, while the King Cab was only available with S, SV, or PRO-4X. The crew cab was available with all trim levels.
All Titan and Titan XD models come equipped with standard equipment such as Bluetooth for both hands-free calling and wireless audio streaming via A2DP, air conditioning, keyless entry, power windows and door locks, push-button ignition, and a rearview backup camera system. Options include a touchscreen audio system with GPS navigation (standard equipment for 2019), SiriusXM Satellite Radio, keyless access, an electronically-locking rear tailgate, remote start, alloy wheels, leather-trimmed seating surfaces with heating and ventilation, power front seats, a premium audio system, wood interior trim, a trailer tow package with integrated trailer brake control, and chrome front and rear bumpers and front grille.
For 2019, all Titan and Titan XD models received a new infotainment system as standard equipment, featuring GPS navigation, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, and a seven-inch color touchscreen display, and the optional Rockford-Fosgate premium audio system was replaced with a new Fender premium audio system. This marks the first time a Fender audio system is available on a vehicle from a manufacturer other than Volkswagen.
For 2020, Nissan unveiled a refreshed Titan and Titan XD. For 2020, the regular cab model was dropped from both the standard and XD lines, and King Cab models of the Titan XD were no longer available. The 5.0 L Cummins turbodiesel V8 engine that was available on the heavier-duty Titan XD was also discontinued, leaving only the 5.6 L "Endurance" gasoline V8.
In August 2020, Nissan announced that the Titan lineup would be discontinued in Canada after the 2021 model year, citing low sales figures as the cause.
In early 2019, Nissan announced to reduce production shifts of Nissan Titan and Frontier pickup trucks from three to two in order to match demand and adjust inventory.

Nissan"s purpose-drivenCalling All TITANs campaign continues with first official TV spot, led by renowned directors Shawn Levy and Stephen Campanelli, airing tonight on ESPN
DALLAS – With the Texas sun shining and deep fryers frying, Nissan returned to the heart of truck country – the annual State Fair of Texas – today to reveal the 2019 TITAN, the most refined TITAN yet. Following a rockin" performance from Fender® artist Eric Johnson, the new pickup was introduced by Fred DePerez, vice president, North American LCV Business Unit, Nissan North America, to a group of the nation"s top truck, auto and lifestyle media a day before doors open to an anticipated 2.5+ million fair-goers.
"The 2019 TITAN will be our most refined truck yet," said DePerez. "Backed by America"s Best Truck Warranty2 – featuring bumper-to-bumper coverage of 5-years/100,000-miles – the 2019 TITAN and TITAN XD will build upon today"s strength and capabilities by adding advanced technology, new safety features and an awesome new audio system to provide the soundtrack for all the amazing adventures ahead of you."
In addition to the 2019 TITAN and TITAN XD unveilings, DePerez provided media with a look at the first official TV spot in the purpose-driven Calling All TITANs marketing campaign. Nissan and partners American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity and National Park Foundation first announced the campaign on Sept. 5 and will set another milestone when the spot airs tonight during the North Carolina vs. Miami college football game on ESPN.
"At Nissan we believe America needs more TITANs, so today we are celebrating the TITANs of the Community, TITANs of the Neighborhood and TITANs of the Outdoors with the launch of the first TV spot of our purpose-driven Calling All TITANs campaign," added DePerez. "The commercial, led by the outstanding directors Shawn Levy and Stephen Campanelli, highlights the inspirational work of the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity and the National Park Foundation – three national organizations we are proud to call partners."
New for the 2019 model year, TITAN and TITAN XD models add the "emotion of a live performance" created by the new, segment-exclusive Fender Premium Audio System. The system features a 485-watt, 9-channel amplifier and Panasonic"s proprietary Acoustic Motion Control™. It is offered on four 2019 TITAN and TITAN XD Crew Cab grade levels and one TITAN and TITAN XD King Cab model.
Other 2019 model year refinements include a new standard 7.0-inch touchscreen audio/IT display with NissanConnect® featuring Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, and Nissan"s exclusive Rear Door Alert system1. Also added for 2019 are additional USB media and charge ports for the front and back seat passengers and two new exterior colors – Moab Sunset and Midnight Pine.
The Rear Door Alert (RDA) system is now standard on all King Cab and Crew Cab TITAN and TITAN XD models. The system uses the vehicle"s door sensors, horn and message display to help remind drivers to check the back seat after the vehicle is parked. Nissan plans to have RDA standard on all four-door trucks, sedans and SUV nameplates by model year 2022.
"In addition to being the traditional workhorse in the stable and hauling cargo, pickups today are used for hauling families – the most precious cargo of all," DePerez said. "With Nissan"s Rear Door Alert system, TITAN drivers can feel even more confident whenever they leave their truck."
All 2019 TITAN and TITAN XD models are assembled in Canton, Mississippi and covered by "America"s Best Truck Warranty"2 – featuring bumper-to-bumper coverage for 5 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Vehicles covered by the new warranty, which includes basic and powertrain coverage, include all TITAN V8 gasoline-powered models and diesel and V8 gasoline-powered 2019 TITAN XD models.

CHICAGO – Nissan today revealed the new 2017 TITAN and TITAN XD King Cab models, completing the lineup of innovative new full-size pickups. The world debut announcement came during a media event at the Chicago Auto Show. Also on display at the show, which runs at Chicago"s McCormick Place from February 11-20, are a specially built Nissan NV Cargo X and two specially modified TITAN PRO-4X models.
"The launch of the new King Cab body is the last step in a journey that began in December 2015 with the debut of the breakthrough TITAN XD, which continues to carve out a unique white space between competitors" heavy-duty and half-ton trucks," said Fred Diaz, division vice president and general manager, North America Trucks and Light Commercial Vehicles, Nissan North America, Inc. "Now, with the addition of a half-ton TITAN, our new Endurance® V8, three body configurations, three bed lengths and a range of grade levels and equipment packages, we"re covering nearly every segment in the personal and commercial full-size truck markets. Add to that the industry"s best 5-year/100,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and the TITAN family is even more compelling."
